- Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the opposition of trying to silence him during his speech in Rajya Sabha where he was replying to the Motion of Thanks on President’s Address. “I remember the incident from last years. We used to sit in that building and attempts were made to stifle the voices of the PM of the country...Today too, you have come prepared to not listen. But you can't suppress my voice. People of the country have strengthened this voice...I too have come prepared this time,” PM Modi said in Parliament.

I'll tell you why: the obligatory function of a government is to protect its geographical boundaries. We have great dangers from the southern side especially now when Maldives is no longer a friend. So for security our navy and coast guards need ports where they can go to and dock for some time. This is where Adani comes in, Adani ports make a necklace around the subcontinent having ports situated at different places in such a way that if tomorrow there is war, the navy would need his ports.
If the ports were only in India, it would've been fine, but he also has them outside India. So you can't get around just by putting a clause in the port agreement that "you have to help the Indian Navy in war situations" because it is out of your jurisdiction. So you have to do things to keep him happy!
