- I realized I never showed you guys this. Here it is.
The variations on my school uniform.
This is the uniform for my High School in Japan. Ageo Koukou.
A typical uniform style for Japan, it's not really a sailor uniform but it is still called a "seifuku" 制服.
I love how Japanese school uniforms look especially the sailor uniform 😂

I wish our uniform was like that there are so much more comfortable the Japanese strategy of school is pretty smart I really like it I wish all schools were like that

I know this is from 5 years ago but I’m guessing it’s still pretty accurate for today. man i go to a unfiorm school but they're not as complicated I'm going to study abroad in japan ( student exchange ) but its cool to see the uniforms in japan.

How do Japanese girls feel about wearing knee socks year round? In the heat of summer or even going to gym class, it would appear that long socks would be a bit cumbersome. I do like the way they look with the uniform however. Very sharp.
I always loved the idea of wearing a school uniform and though at first id love it and find it cute and stuff and feel special and feel as if i'm a part of the community and feel confident and professional and feel responsible it would soon become extremly boring wearing the same thing not being able to express myself and be who i am and try different outfit's and i'd soon burn out of it and would love it and hate it at the same time and it'll make me feel more mentally drained or depressed and it would make the abuse i'm going through at home much more worse due to having to buy me new uniforms since uniforms cost alot and my parent's would've been stressed out and probably take it out on me even more.
I got myself a school uniform though since it's and cute and i'm Transfluid
And i live in the US so i'd look very stupid wearing a school uniform in school with kids who wear whatever they wanna wear and you'd get very bullied and picked on if you did😂
But fuck them cause it's something that *I* want to do!

i wanna live in japan too :( its so beautiful ... and the schools are so cool :/ im 14 an live in germany ... its very boring here . you can wear all what you want to school but when you dont wear the 100 euro tshirt all people laught ... its not very cool ._. im finaly finish with school in 1 year and then i make an au pair or an work an travel at japan ... i want it sooo mutch :(

If someone hasn't answered yet: Most programs I've looked at have the school expenses included in the money you pay [that program] or it's already payed for.

Wow very informative, I had no idea that they limited that much - especially the make up! Do you know what the requirements would be for a teacher? I'm considering teaching in Japan and I was wondering if they would make me dye my hair so dark or not allow me to wear makeup or what type of outfits are appropriate. Please let me know of any recommendations :)

+livinghappyisachoice Teachers are a different matter all together. As far as I know, you don't have to do anything to change your appearance to be a teacher in Japan. Besides looking professional. There was an ALT (Foreign english teacher) at my high school and she didn't have to change her hair or makeup.

Wait a minute...but what about BB/CC cream, concealer, or tinted sunscreen? I imagine some might try to use it regardless of the rules to cover up really bad acne scarring. Has anyone gotten in trouble for using such products at school?

No, you don't have to dye it usually. They let you keep natural hair colours.

Guinevere Bloch No! if you die you're hair usually you have to die it regularly because you are supposed to have your natural hair color.
lol girls still wear the really short cute school uniforms like anime but not at school but outside on saturday and sunday, which can flip up at any moment xD. I don't know how they do it I would be too embarrassed to wear it so short (even shorter than she had it in the video) . Though they definitely do not wear booty short shorts, and I hope it wont get into style either that would be terrible Dx

Can gals wear slacks for school uniforms? Or are you stuck in the 1960s with the short skirts? I'm referring to non-gym wear ones.
There's some schools that OFFER slacks but the girls almost never wear them because they think they're really lame and not cute to them. X3

A bit worried as to if I'll get a response, but I have naturally brown hair - Medium brown with dark chocolate base.
I dye my hair, pretty regularly. It has been red for a few years, but it is now black.
My hair grows out slow enough that dyed red hair manages to fade to giving me lighter looking hair, now with black hair if I was to go to Japan, my hair grows slow enough that I would get there with lots of black, not much brown.. but, if my hair was red at the time-- would it be an issue if I went with my red hair, of which would sooner or later start to show roots.
All as well, with halfblack/halfbrown hair?

+GaijinMint Generally they prefer you to have your natural hair color while you are in the school, this means if you are foreign then you can keep your natural hair color. If the red hair looks like a natural red color then they may not have a problem with it. But they might ask you to change it if your hair is too unnatural looking.

If you bought them yes. If you rented them then you have to return them.

where did you get the outfits with the sweaters?
The Skirt/White shirt/Blazer and shoes came from a store in my town that specifically sold school uniforms. The socks, sweaters and vests came from a store called 'East Boy'.

You can buy cosplay uniforms but i dont think you can buy an actual Japanese uniform. Most uniforms cost so much and are sold by a local uniform store in Japan.

I don't think you have any idea. It's not all cute uniforms, bento box lunches and going to anime club meetings. It's a hellish grind of lectures, testing, rwnkings, cramming and competing to get into the best university you can. If you can hack the academics or are not likely to get into a good Japanese uni, Japanese high schools are NOT for you.
