Sorry to all other PokeTubers, I love y'all for different reasons but you can't beat Lockstin on cleverness 😅 Keep it going, Austin ! (I realize I sound like an overproud mom, but believe me I'm just a regular guy)
the story of the Galapagos tortoise and Dodo always angered me. Not because they went endangered and then extinct, but because they didn't even bother domesticating what would have been comparatively easy to manage foodstock.
Do oyu know what angered me. the fact that the galapgos tortois does not play any role here. Quite possible did a galapgo tortois and a dodo never met in history. But the extict marutius tortoise which is native on Mauritius..... the *SAME ISLANS* as the dodo and the Seychells tortoise from nearby. British sailors were pretty much never on the galapgos islands. It was mostly on the Spanish routes. But did you know were the british sailed to Mauritius and the Seychells.
Even despite not being british at all, i still can't believe you made an entire video talking about a turtle and its' connection to ships without mentioning the korean turtle ships even once!
I feel that with everything lockstin said about drednaw, I have a feeling that the chewtle line are NOT actually from galar but might have been brought over due to an exotic pet trade and adapted to be "Galarian" forms that we see. Along with that, they might either be from unova or from regions based on the deep southern U.S.A or even from Texas if the U.S.S Texas is part of the inspiration and the original forms of these pokemon might either be (ground/water) due to snapping turtles being found on and hunting near the muddy swamp floors, (water/steel) due to being based on IRONCLADS or (ground/dragon) due to snapping turtles have a draconic terrapin like appearance to them🚢🐢⭐
surprised you didnt mention Gamera with the g max form. of all the g max's , it and duralodon feel the most like directly inspired kaiju g max forms. also along with his mouth being like a bear trap, i think its also supposed to look like an industrial rock crusher, which aids in his rock type. should still be steel water though imo
4:29, "[Hard tack is] super dry and gross" not to mention it was so hard that it would likely damage your teeth if you go into it like a normal cracker.

Love turtles and tortoises. Drednaw is definitely one of my favourites from Galar. Took Franklin with me from start to finish. And Chewtle is just so cute!
Here is a video idea. I might be simple but I can't find a video of you doing it so I might as well say it. What is the smartest pokemon? Most people would probably say Alakazam or Mewtwo, but there is a lot of high intelligence pokemon out there like Beheeyem, Lapras, and Oranguru. Ranking them would probably make a good video.
Like Cufant, I saw this -mon and loved its coloring before the design registered. And while I could have known about the ironclads somewhere in my head, I don't remember, so I did learn something new today. Thanks!
7:35 And yet the Galapagos tortoises managed to survive. Their current conservation status on the considerably low ranking of "vulnerable" according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
Hey Lockstin. Great Educational video disguised as Pokemon video. I love those, keep it up! Wanted to add something (especially since you also seemed interested in spider ball pythons in the Sandaconda vid. The spikey shell thing is called pyramiding and it's a sign of improper care in pet turtles and tortoises. Tortoises are usually not "bumpier" than freshwater turtles can be. I think the shell of dreadnaw is more a stylized version of an alligator snapping turtle shell.
Drednaw’ rock typing may come from the fact that Alligator snapping turtles use their shells for camouflage in addition to defense. A snapping turtle shell covered in algae can look very similar to a submerged rock. Also, most tortoises can float pretty well even if they can’t swim.
The Battle between the USS Monitor and the CSS Merrimack was kinda funny in retrospect. The two battled for hours not really being able to damage each other and both eventually rather unceremoniously
I mean, while the Galapagos Tortoise was responsible for the Dodo’s extinction, that whole thing was also responsible for the complete endangerment of that species of tortoise too
Bro alligator snapping turtles are alot more wide spread than that map. I've personally seen them in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Texas. They are everywhere in the south bro.

Easy. Drednaw's a cool turtle
Fair
It is a rough squirtle
*VERY cool turtle
I love that a random big tortoise from a small island off the coast of an exotic continent tasted great with a random big bird from a small island off the coast of an exotic continent, but a completely different small island off the coast of a completely different exotic continent.
You're just the most well-thought-out, smart and deeply interesting Poketuber.
You keep amazing me with every new video, and I can't get enough of it.
Not only are you delving deep into Pokemon's designs (and moves, and types and whatnot), but recently in your Fakemon Region you've shown you're capable of just as much creativity and thought as Game Freak on your own designs.
Sorry to all other PokeTubers, I love y'all for different reasons but you can't beat Lockstin on cleverness 😅
Keep it going, Austin !
(I realize I sound like an overproud mom, but believe me I'm just a regular guy)
I bet the Kascade region could have a Kascadian Dreadgnaw. It would probably be Iron Water type.
the story of the Galapagos tortoise and Dodo always angered me.
I can’t lie, I sometimes recycle and reuse old joke / comments.
u do multiple on the same video to
'"Lockstin, you sexy devil!' you say'
I feel so called out
Even despite not being british at all, i still can't believe you made an entire video talking about a turtle and its' connection to ships without mentioning the korean turtle ships even once!
4:29, "[Hard tack is] super dry and gross"
not to mention it was so hard that it would likely damage your teeth if you go into it like a normal cracker.
I’d love to see a video explaining why they haven’t made the little Pokémon in Kangaskhan’s pouch it’s own separate being. Cause it makes no sense why a full mother and child spawn out of the same egg
Love turtles and tortoises. Drednaw is definitely one of my favourites from Galar. Took Franklin with me from start to finish. And Chewtle is just so cute!
No need to think up more jokes, your awkward pauses are still funny x
Hey Lockstin, there is also the connection of turtles to ships with the korean admiral yi sun-sin
Thanks!
Drednaw is my favourite they combine cool and cute to make the best pokemon
I like dreadnaw and hate the pre evo but I haven't gotten to play the games yet
Honestly learned a lot more than what I thought I would 😳😳 This was Awesome!!!
Pokémon trainer: Why do eat rocks???
Drednaw: Yes.
7:35 And yet the Galapagos tortoises managed to survive. Their current conservation status on the considerably low ranking of "vulnerable" according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
He protek
He attac
But most importantly
He was cooked with dodo as a sailor snack
This video is insane high quality..
Drednaw is one of my favorite gen 8 pokemon. Nice vid
More kaskade region PLEASE I'm designing my own region on my own and it keeps me sane
Same here lol but it takes a while for the artists to draw the Pokémon and to research the design elements
@@soup2865 I fully appreciate that, I just want more
I was just watching the urshifu vid then you came awesome!
Drednaw’ rock typing may come from the fact that Alligator snapping turtles use their shells for camouflage in addition to defense. A snapping turtle shell covered in algae can look very similar to a submerged rock. Also, most tortoises can float pretty well even if they can’t swim.
Many drednaws probably died because their trainers thought they could swim.
The Battle between the USS Monitor and the CSS Merrimack was kinda funny in retrospect. The two battled for hours not really being able to damage each other and both eventually rather unceremoniously
To quote one amazing comedian woman I love..... "tortises are the 'clomp clomps' turtles are the 'flip flips'"
I mean, while the Galapagos Tortoise was responsible for the Dodo’s extinction, that whole thing was also responsible for the complete endangerment of that species of tortoise too
also the spike on it´s head looks like the bows of most ramming able ships like battleships had in the front making it like a complete battleship
Bro alligator snapping turtles are alot more wide spread than that map. I've personally seen them in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Texas. They are everywhere in the south bro.
so fun fact the scorched earth tactic plays a part in why parts of Georgia has such fertile soil
Also the Galapagos Tortoise had a bladder that held a few gallons of freshwater. So that was also very convenient for sailors
I used Drednaw as one of my Champ team, and it will always be one of my favorite Galar Pokemons.
