I had 2 Punch pro 12s back in about the mid 90s with a Phoenix gold amp, I liked them so much i ended of blowing them at my own fault. I was so devastated that i had them rebuilt. They were supposed to put back the center dust cover but they didn't. They were still very good but never the same. 10 years or so later i cleaned out my mothers house and ended up putting them at the street for trash collection. I regretted it that the same day i did it. Brings back memories . Thanks for the video
Rockford Fosgate needs to re-release these subs with their Punch series amps. They'll make a fortune. But under one condition, it has to be made and assembled in the good Ole US of A.
I had two of those in 1990 but mine were 18". Pushed on a punch 150 from the same time. I didn't make much money back then but it all went to car audio! Thanks for the memory!
First subs I ever owned. I had 2 12" subs. The car audio shop had them on sale. I was 17 yrs old. My car only had an AM radio and that's what I went to the car audio shop to buy. A new deck as that's what we called em then. Nobody knew what a head unit was. I went there to buy a CD player and instead walked out with 2 subwoofers. Go figure. I've always been attracted to subs for some reason. More than anything else in car audio. I didn't even have a deck to run them so I borrowed an amp from one friend and a prefab box from another then used a discman as a head unit. I used a cable that had RCA plugs on one end and a headphone jack on the other. It was a totally ghetto setup and I absolutely loved it. I was a Rockford Fosgate fan for life. I still have 2 HX2 15'S in a custom box sitting in a closet. I bought them new about 14yrs ago. They're still in mint condition.
+RYTHMIC RIOT I saw people do this all the time back in the day (portables instead of decks). Biggest amp and subs you could afford...guess it's the same for the kiddos today. They just have a LOT more affordable choices than we had

I always have an attraction to this same exact Rockford Pro Punch 12 inch subwoofer. It was in the first issue of Car Stereo Review I ever purchased from the magazine rack of Shop Rite. A 1991 issue. They had instructions for a downward firing ported enclosure inside. I was scared of tools (14 years old), but was inspired to work with my best friend to install full car audio systems. I remember how heavy these subs were for the time. Three years later we put two 15 inch versions from same year in a 1991 Ford F250 diesel. Third loudest truck in high school. A white 92 Typhoon with 2 Earthquake 12s in a 6th order plexi neon lit bandpass took honors (father was a MD, $$$). He had a Hifonics Colossus too. I saw three red, vertically mounted Linear Power 8002's in the back of a winning IASCA capped mini pickup truck in this issue too. I have all magazines still. CSR, Car Audio, some alarm and audio magazines too. Also Hifonics Series VII and VII brochures, PPI, plus two different Kicker brochures (Seeing a SoloBaric 12 dustcap made my nuts move back in the day). I was always weird and bought Phoenix Gold M series and Hifonics with Audio Control and Kicker + JBL. Anyway, love this video. Sorry for dumping memories. I was 15 to 18 from 1991 to 1994. Seeing the Punch Pro caused vivid memories.
Yeah man, the CV's were sick and efficient subs in the day. I'm sure I'll run across some. It never ceases to amaze me what treasures I come across (thanks in most part to my viewers, friends and colleges). I recently did a video of the Kicker F-12 Freeair subs from the same era as the 8" solo barics I recently showed off. I'll get it online soon

I settled for MTX Blue Thunders...and was very happy with them for 120/pr with a 10yr warranty! My buddy had 10" series 1's, 4" and soft dome tweets all powered by a Punch 45. It was impressive for such a modest system
Nice sub!! Up till 9 mos ago I had a SPP-184 AKA PRO-184. Needed re-foaming, and when I moved I forgot to bring it. It was a nice sub, and the 1st 18" I ever owned
Sorry to hear about your home. I've not tried the Pro 18" myself, so I have no way to compare it. The 12w6 is a super sub. I bought my 8w6v1 surround kits from springfieldspeakerrepair-com and they worked perfectly

A 10lb magnet structure in a subwoofer in the late 80's was not common at all. These subs were over $300/ea, comparable to 600 or more in today's money
I just picked up in mint condition a ax pro 1000.1bdp for 80 bucks ha .I blows My newer 1000.1 punch amp out the water . Man I love subs from this time I have some pioneers with cabin fiber dust cap with similar build takes more watts and hit cleaner then a new p3 I paid 60 for the set great time to be alive with so many Poeple with no clues what they have ha
Nice Find! I know what you mean about the foam surround. I recently bout a new 10' RF XLC RFP2410 for 50 buck... I was so happy, till I got it. It was new, but it had the original surround and it was so fragile that when I touched it, it tore.
Cool woofer, surprised fosgate had woofers like that in the 80's since it looks just like something you would buy from a car audio store today to put in a smaller sealed box. I bet it produces a lot of spl too.

My uncle had two 18" of these back in the 90's that were sold to him cheap due to being very scratchy voice coils. I don't remember why but for some reason they were thrown into the trash.
Yeah I had plans to re-foam it. I lost my home and had to leave un-expectedly. I didnt get to take all my things. It was a great woofer, but not the best for frequencies above 50hz in my experience. Although I never ran it in a sealed enclosure, so maybe not a fair evaluation. I still have my 12W6 V1 that I plan to re-foam though.
I remember not having near enough power no matter what amp I had I had them hooked up to the Orion 250 HCCA impedance very low I believe there 2-four ohm dvc Its been 20 years you don't have any to show do you or test?? About 10 years ago why I got a mini truck that was walled off but you couldn't see the woofers there was like slot ports everywhere and holy cow loud super loud I regretted getting rid of them from that point on till this day it cost me 7 and I remember barely being able to cary

They are in amazing shape. I was a car audio installer for about 16 years at my local car audio shop here in Wenatchee and I bought them all direct from rockford back in 96ish. I completely forgot about them as I had them all packed up and in storage for that past 15 years. If your interested let me know?
I was wondering what ohm dvc sub do I get for this amp? I am planning on running it bridged, and I know it is 2 ohm stable bridged. So do I get a 4 ohm dvc or a 2 ohm dvc. If I got a 2 ohm and wired it in series it would go to 4 ohms then when I bridged it, it would go down to 2 ohms which is stable. Or can I get a 4 ohm, run it in parallel to get 2 ohms, and then bridge it to get 1 ohm?I'm not sure if this amp is 1 ohm stable bridged, because it already gets pretty hot at 2 ohms. Thanks, Caleb

definitely love to get a pair of these this sub here would be the 2nd rockford sub iv ever held first 1 was a 10in series 1it was either late 80s or early 90s and like 10 years later iv argued with my friend that we both been into car audio sence early 90s i told him if you ever see a pair of old school rockford pro's let me know he sed they never made pros only powers id say this woofer was probly the most heaviest and the motor is wide as heck back in the early 90s i never owned them couldent aford them but had 3 other friends that had them iv seen 2 150 amps on a pair 12s in like a 5 cube box with like 4 or 5 inch ports and iv seen punch 200s on them and thats what got me hooked on rockford they hit lows so good people thought they were 15s they were killing it in bay city michigan the kicker guys couldent understand it unfortunately all i could aford is black 12in pioneer subs at the time but i do have a pair of 12in power dvc's now and pair of dvc's just need to get a pair these and a pair of powers and ill be good on old school rockford subs lol

My brother had a set of the 8-ohm versions in a bandpass the basement flooded and he had to throw them away as well so devastating
