It's true Derek Brown is an extremely talented and focused musician. But it's wrong of someone to imply that some of the techniques that this performer is using is somehow lifted from Brown's act. Knowledge is power and Derek Brown was NOT the first act to ever incorporate these techniques. Mr. Brown has generously posted some youtube fundamentals that I have found to be extremely useful, and I thank him for that. I'm not an expert, but I would give the performer enough credit to believe that this is just as an original expression as his act. Mr. Brown is also a soloist, and a very good one. This clearly is an ensemble performance. Wonderfully done!

I agree with you that Derek doesn't own this technique or style. BUT he did an arrangement extremely similar to what this group played. It was clearly heavily inspired by his work and I personally would have given him a shoutout.

The beauty in this isn't just the techniques inspired by Derek Brown, but the arrangement they made (in a short period of time) with the ensemble. You don't need to tear this down to build Derek up. Furthermore, this speaks volumes about military music and how they are legit musicians staying relevant. I think it is all good stuff
