Thank you for nice clear instructions. I have just started a Haapsalu shawl with nupps. I struggle with the nupps. I will do your #2 method, but probably settle with #3 crochet hook method.
Using the crochet hook would be so much easier. I find it difficult to pull the working yarn through the blob of stitches for this. Thank you. I always enjoy your videos and find them helpful.
This was an excellent video! You explained things very thoroughly! I especially appreciated learning that nupp means bud! And that nupps were developed by Estonian knitters! I liked how you expressed the subtle difference in appearance between Way #1 and Ways #2 & #3. I like Way #1 nupp the best because it's flatter. It isn't bobbley. Thank you!
Indeed :-) I love these little nupps even more because they are more delicate than bobbles. In fact, I can't stop playing with them - my latest whim is to make them colourful :-)
Is there any guideline on crochet hook size with the size of the knitting needle for method #3? Should they be similar or the crochet hook slightly bigger? Thank you for the great video.
I used the hook in the same size (in mm) as the needles and it worked fine. I didn't experiment with other sizes. If you decide to test other combinations of needle / hook sizes, let me know the results. Thank you :-)
Hi Susan. Generally, nupps are made with 7 loops, but you can also make them smaller with only 5 loops. Or, you can make them puffier with as many as 11 loops. Happy knitting :-)

You are most welcome, Inge 🙂 Good luck with the shawl!
Thank you, I’ve been struggling with my nupps now you’ve made it clear and your instructions are different. Brilliant
Thank you :-) I am happy I could help.
Thank you for your excellent tutorial on Estonian Nups. I found it so helpful especially using the crochet hook version.
Adorable and easy to fit any old where. Can't wait to try it on a doll sweater. I can picture small nupps making an "outline." Thanks so much, Maryna!
Nupps would look amazing on a doll's sweater. What a great idea! Please, send me a photo of the sweater once you finish it - I'd love to see it :-)
Thank you! I love your techniques and will definitely try the 2 and 3 way methods.
Thank you :-)

Using crochet hook is stunning.
Wow, three ways of doing the same thing again and explained so easy to follow. Thank you for Montana U.S.A.
My pleasure :-)
Little boy this is about knitting, not about how your dirty mind works. Please do not insult my last name, thank you.
Denise, I've just removed that comment. That was absolutely uncalled for :-(
Thank you very much!
Love this tutorial! Thank you.
Again , you're such a very good teacher. Thank you

I agree - there are so many different ways to use these little cuties in knitting! Have fun, Cynthia :-)
Bobbles are fun to make.

Thanks again🌸🌼🌹
Wow thanks! That was concise and interesting. I will check out your links, and I subbed your channel.
Fabulous! Would it be possible to make a smaller nup using only 5 stitches?

Very fun 😊!
Fun it is! Thanks for the comment, Bonnie :-)
Many, many thanks !
Thank you.
You are most welcome, Tina :-) Let me know if there's some other technique you'd like to master, and I'll do my best to make a tutorial about it.
