Received my temporary residency card today in Queretero thanks to Mariana and the Mexican Relocation Guide. Worth every penny. Thank you so much! Saludos!
I moved to Ensenada 2 years ago and even though I did vote, I'm still so glad I'm here because I'm terrified for what it's going to be like for people in the US going forward!
I really appreciate the energy here, and that you are basically flagging you are on the right side of history, and I super appreciate you. I look forward to moving to a culture, where people inherently look towards communal ideas, practices, where people look to take care of each other first, not to turn away from one another. Thank you for all the info and hard work!!
I moved to Cabo San Lucas in 2022 from Tempe, Arizona and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I absolutely loved Phoenix I spent most of my life there but Cabo is truly a special place. It's like San Diego in the 1980s. They have some of the most amazing beaches in the world. I love the culture, people, food, the ocean, the mountains but it definitely lacks infrastructure and this is something you're going to have to adjust to. We have power outages frequently, lack of water, and half the roads in town are dirt. It's the most expensive city in all of Mexico even under all these conditions but I do truly love it because the average daily temperature is 82° and it has 350 days of sun.

Run people we started the process years ago; we suspected he would run again. We now have permanent residence. We live in Cuernavaca, bought a fixer upper, hired an AMAZING architect/contactor, and are now getting my dream house in a beautiful climate year around. The Mexican Relocation Guide has been very helpful.
We're running...and so are a lot of people we know. I will purchase The Mexican Relocation Guide. Happy to hear that you can actually purchase a house and property.
@josielogan3325 you absolutely can, if its along the ocean, you have to put it onto a trust, but anywhere else, it's just like the States. We know a lot of expats, another great resource is Eternal Spring here on TH-cam. The Thurotts give a lot of info on getting residence and they bought a condo.
Thanks Mariana for another great video!! I’m so grateful my partner and I got our temporary residency earlier this year in Merida in preparation for our permanent move to beautiful MX🇲🇽
I retired about 9 years ago and began traveling to Mexico in the winters and after several years I started to think this would be a great place to live! So about 4 years ago I started exploring all the top retiree cities around Mexico in areas that had the nice year round weather as a home, which limited it to places in the central mountains, cities like SMA, Queretaro, Guanajuato, Morellia, Chapala/Ajijic, and many more. There are so many great places so make a checklist of what most important to you, watch the videos on this site and then go explore and find your dream place!
Sounds like you’ve been doing your homework! We agree- and if anyone is wondering we’d love to show you a city with our Private relocation tours - mexicorelocationguide.com/tours/
I received permanent residency in 2022 and it only took a couple hours. I made my appointment online in advance but the overall appointment went very smoothly. Make sure you bring in all your bank statements and liquid assets for the past 24 months. I purchased a property in Cabo San Lucas 2 months before my appointment so I had a vested interest in Mexico already because I purchased a $750,000 home here. They knew I was not going anywhere and was a good candidate.
I received my temporary residency earlier this year, my husband will apply in January and hopefully we'll be ready to move to Mexico within a 1 to 2 years and leave Canada to truly live life to it's fullest.
I am 90% of the way there to moving to Mexico at least part time. Just concerned about my lack of Spanish language skills. I will be visiting a few places as a tourist for 6 weeks in Jan/Feb so I'm hoping to feel it out to see if any of the spots would be feasible for me. Fingers crossed....
I am also learning Spanish. There are a bunch of Spanish schools in various cities in Mexico. I’ve been listening to Spanish While You Sleep vids and while I’m prob not learning much, I’m hearing the sentence structure. That’s how we learned as babies.
@tootietatum8737 I knew NO Spanish when we moved. I'm now a year later okay. I get better every day picking up a new words daily. Today, it was Malinchismo, and it doesn't really translate. Just do it and make an effort to learn they are very kind to me where we live about my broken Spanish. There is English speaking communities in every large city so you can make friends who speak the same language.
I am considering Mexico for a number of reasons but primarily because of its closeness to LA California. My goal is it spend 2-3 weeks per month in Mexico. I was hoping to become a monthly visiting tourist. My main reason for this monthly return to LA is because I have an 8 year old granddaughter that I can't bare spending to long away from and I have a unique way of teaching that her father wants her to learn from, as he did. I have no qualifications issues that I am aware of. I want to visit many places in Mexico and use Mexico as a staging area to many other nearby countries. Based on what you are saying I may need to apply for a temporary residency rather than going going the tourist route. My time frame will began in about April of 2025.
Glad I did this earlier in the year and have settled in Puerto Vallarta. I moved here permanently in September. I have a feeling that there is going to be a big spike in people wanting to come to Mexico as an option. Best decision I could have made and now wish I did it 20 years ago.
I just wanted to hop in here for anybody who is considering this to say that the Mexico Relocation Guide is the best investment I've ever made. My wife and I were planning to retire to Atlixco BEFORE this election crap. We already have our temporary residency and will be doing our 3-year renewal in December. Our move timeline may have just moved forward. Without Mariana and MRG, this would have been *very difficult* to do. Using the guide, this was a smooth process and I'm proud to say that we're official residents of Mexico (not to mention that it's a bit easier to get through the airport in Mexico City when we fly in - that's not a joke haha) Oh - and do the relocation tour. And hire a guide. Worth their weight in gold!
Me encantan tus / sus videos Mariana! Yo estudié en SLP, me encantó verlo en este video. Este próximo año me iré regreso 'pa'llá', no sé si a SLP, Querétaro o León. Saludos!
I am planning to move to Mexico of 2027 or sooner, 😂, especially after this week. Mexico was my top choice because of the proximity to the US, but familiarity, in addition to lower cost. I’ve been working on my Spanish as I think it is very important to learn the language.
Hi. My wife and I live the United States. We are in our late 30's and purchased a home in Mexico last year. For now it is a vacation home. In the future it will serve as a retirement home. We will likely spend half of the year in Mexico and half in the USA. I can attest to the fact that Mexico is a welcome reprieve from the political climate in my home country. I am among the politically exhaused crowd looking for an escape as often as possible. When in Mexico we walk miles and miles each day. To the market, the park, downtown etc. Our home is visited by butterflies and hummingbirds. We have planted flowering vines to grow up the wall of our home outside. I LOVE IT! Is it perfect? No. Do I miss some of the comforts of my home in the USA while there? Yes. I am not fluet in spanish and that proves challenging to navigate the world. I rely on my wifes assistance quite a lot and that can be tiresome for her. I continue to study and practice but wonder IF I will ever be fluent. Immerson is critical. Anyhow, thanks for the video. Buen dia.
Quick question regarding the purchase of your home in Mexico. What's the process? I have heard horror stories that the Mexican government can take your property if they chose to do so. Do you have to be a citizen? We;re looking to move to Mexico in the next 6 months to a year and could use some insight. Thanks.
@@josielogan3325 The rumor that the Mexican government can "repossess" or "steal" homes from foreign property owners is a common concern, but it is largely based on misunderstandings or exaggerations of Mexican property laws, particularly those related to the restricted zones. Restricted Zones and Trusts: Foreigners cannot directly own land within 50 kilometers (31 miles) of the coast or 100 kilometers (62 miles) of the border. However, since 1973, foreigners can purchase property in these restricted zones by establishing a bank trust (known as a fideicomiso). In this arrangement, a Mexican bank holds the title to the property on behalf of the foreign owner, who retains all rights to use, sell, or pass the property to heirs. Rights and Protections: Properties purchased legally in Mexico through the appropriate channels are protected by Mexican law, and the property rights of both Mexican nationals and foreigners are safeguarded by the Constitution. The government does not have any particular practice of taking back property or repossessing homes without due legal process. Expropriation Possibilities: As in any country, there is a legal process called expropriation where the government can acquire private property for public use, similar to eminent domain in the United States. If this happens, the government is required by law to compensate the property owner fairly. Expropriation is very rare and is used for public works projects, not random property seizure. If you’re considering purchasing property in Mexico, it’s wise to work with a reputable lawyer to understand all local laws and ensure your investment is secure.

Hi Marian, My wife and I are really wanting to get permanent residency in Mexico. Your email and You tube channel are excellent for either the reader or the person who does better with watching. (I’m sure you know this already 😄). We live in Nashville and I”m wondering where is the best place for us to start the residency requirements. We have friends living in the Lake Chapala area that really love it. I know you have said that different consulates have different aspects to them. It looks like Atlanta is the closest one to Nashville. Is this accurate. Thanks for your help.
When it comes to the manaje de casa is it ok if i move half when i move to mexico and then the rest of my things a year later? Would both shipments count as manaje de casa as long as i have temporary residency visa?
It is getting very hard to get permanent visas and are very expensive. I am Mexican, my husband is American and is been a hard road to get his permanent visa.
I have a passport card, it says I can travel to Mexico or Canada, just cant fly over seas, can I travel to Mexico with that card only or do I need to get a book passport?
@MexicoRelocationGuide I've personally overheard Mexicans in Mexico City talk about me. None of them will say it to my face but they will speak under their breath and a lot of online hate.
Ty you Marian. So my mom is from Mexico so I would like to get my residency through her. But she is no longer alive and I do not have her birth certificate, but what I do have is her Mika green card who do I contact to be able to get her birth certificate thank you.
Without her birth certificate you won’t be able to apply for dual citizenship in mexico. But we have a couple of contacts that have helped our customers find their parents birth certificates in Mexico. See this blog post mexicorelocationguide.com/how-to-become-a-mexican-citizen/
I have never been to mexico I am from texas, what is a good place to visit that is like the US but low costs as a tourist before making the decision to move there? I do like beach areas
I hope you mean here in Mexico with the new woman President and growing economy? Problems in the US with the new Government are just going to get way worse. Heck Mexico is going to have a massive US immigration issue. Sure hope they can handle it!
I remember in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico around 2017 they were burning an effigy of Trump during a fiesta in the main square. It was all just clean fun, not a big deal to anyone. I supported some of Trump's positions and nobody cared.
Thanks for watching!

Try a temporary visa first then apply for permanent visa.
I have a passport card, it says I can travel to Mexico or Canada, just cant fly over seas, can I travel to Mexico with that card only or do I need to get a book passport?
You need a passport book to travel to Mexico- unless you live at the border and are just crossing for the day
A passport card only works for land crossings, though I believe that you are not limited to day trips. To fly to Mexico you need a passport.
Moved to Mexico in June 2024. I love it a lot but one thing I really dislike is the amount of people who hate Americans
Have you been personally mistreated or are you referring to what the media is saying
@MexicoRelocationGuide I've personally overheard Mexicans in Mexico City talk about me. None of them will say it to my face but they will speak under their breath and a lot of online hate.
Really? Where in Mexico did you move?
That’s the first time I’ve ever heard this.
Hello Mariana. Was that you with Andrew Henderson in Kuala Lumpur? If not you have a twin. Thanks for the video.
Ha! Not me 😀 although I do love Kuala Lumpur
There is no place that is like the USA - this is Mexico 😀
If you want USA but affordable look into south Texas 😊
Love the recent election results.
I hope you mean here in Mexico with the new woman President and growing economy? Problems in the US with the new Government are just going to get way worse. Heck Mexico is going to have a massive US immigration issue. Sure hope they can handle it!
Now that Trump won, perhaps many Americans will now return to the U.S lol
I think it will be quite the opposite
I remember in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico around 2017 they were burning an effigy of Trump during a fiesta in the main square. It was all just clean fun, not a big deal to anyone. I supported some of Trump's positions and nobody cared.
