      Anakin's strength as a jedi was his compassion and how much he cared for others. It was also his downfall and ultimately what led him to become Vader. That was still there as Vader, and knowing his son was there and said there was still good in him (like Padme said too in episode 3) that sort of flipped a switch in him

  • @isaiahpavia-cruz678

    The musical track accompanying that final lightsaber battle was called the Duel of the Fates. It’s been explained by Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm producer, that the “fate” of the boy rested in that fight. Qui-Gon was to be the father figure that was missing, and due to his death, Obi-Wan was reluctantly tasked to train him to the promise he kept to his master. Thus, the fate of Anakin was altered and started his path to becoming Darth Vader.

    • @SofaandChill
      @SofaandChill  3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Ahh yeah that's a great point. Qui-Gon would have definitely treated him like a son and that death is a huge turning point.

    • @LeChaunce
      @LeChaunce 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SofaandChill For the FULL transformation -- and it's up to you if you want to react to it -- you should watch the Clone Wars animated series between Episodes 2 and 3. The show IS canon, and after the second season becomes some of the best Star Wars content available.
      If you do decide to watch the show, I recommend watching it in the chronological order listed on the official Star Wars website, and don't watch the final four episodes until after watching Episode 3. If you decide to react to it, I recommend grouping story arcs into a single reaction video.
      The animated shows -- Clone Wars, The Bad Batch (which is still ongoing, they're producing season 2 now), Rebels -- set up a LOT of content that shows up after the original movie series (episodes 4-6 and 1-3) finished up. There's also upcoming live action shows for Disney+ that will feature live action versions of a number of characters that previously only showed up in those animated shows.

    36:25 The thing is, the Jedi Council kind of made a Self-fullfilling Prophecy regarding Anakin. Notice how Yoda explains to Anakin, that " *Fear* is the path to the Dark side"? Yet, when discussing Obi-Wan taking on Anakin as an apprentice, he says "Grave danger I *fear* in training him"? Yoda, and the Jedi Council at large are acting like hypocrites, and this is not the only instance through-out the trilogy. By continually showing distrust towards him, they gave no reason to Anakin to trust them. Which was exploited by Palpatine quite brilliantly.

    • @SofaandChill
      @SofaandChill  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah he did use the Jedi council by making them out to be hypocrites. Always playing to his ego and then telling him he could learn how to cheat death. The one thing Anakin always wanted, he even said it to Padme

    When it comes to Midi-chlorians, I believe that the higher amount of them you have, the more powerful you can POTENTIALLY become.

    The actor who played young Anakin was Jake Lloyd, who played the kid in "Jingle All The Way." After the film released, it gained mixed to negative reviews. Jake suffered severe bullying at school and quit acting all together. He was later diagnosed with schizophrenia and was involved in a high speed road chase keeping him behind bars before being moved to a psychiatric facility.
    The actor who played Jar Jar Binks is Ahmed Best. He was also blamed for the negative reviews of the film. He even almost committed suicide but didn't.

    Midichlorian count is basically "channel strength." It's not power in the force, and not even strictly speaking potential. It's how easily/freely you can sense it. Think of ones ability with the force like a radio, and Anakin was born with a particularly strong reciever. And like is typical with tech, if part of it is top of the line, the rest is liable to be of high quality as well. So it's a very strong indication of his force potential. But there are likewise beings with a high midichlorian count, but who can't use the force.

    (long reply coming) I was 10 years old when "Star Wars" came out(at the time, it wasn't subtitled "A New Hope"... that came later, once the movie was a success). Unlike many OT(Original Trilogy) fans, I actually enjoyed Episode I. I have ever since I saw it in theaters. The version of Episode IV, V, and VI that you saw, were the "Special Edition" versions. You can get "Despecialized" versions of the original movies(if you can find a place to download them from), that basically have the original effects, but upgraded to 4k. It's also possible to track down the VHS versions of the OT... or at the very least, you can check out some videos detailing the differences between releases. I recommend doing so... that way you can get a feel for what we actually saw in theaters back in '77, '80, and '84.
    Anyway.... I'm glad you have so far watched them in release order. That's how we got the story back then. But, from here, you can watch everything chronologically(even though some was released outside of chronological order). That includes the animated series'.... which I will detail later in this reply.
    Obi-Wan Kenobi is just a Padawan here.... his Master(teacher) is Qui-Gon Jinn(Liam Neesen).
    OH! While I'm thinking of it(4:00 in).... turn on Subtitles. It will help you with some terminology and speech patterns. Not to mention character names.
    6:10 - You like Jar Jar Binks.... (not so) fun fact: MANY Star Wars fans HATED the character when this movie was released. Ahmed Best(the actor who played him) got a LOT of hate, which honestly, I think was unwarranted. Both he, and the young actor who played Anakin(Jake Lloyd) got a shitload of hate mail, and fan backlash. It's really sad, to think about.
    10:20 - Remember, even Adolf Hitler was a child once...
    13:29 - This plot point got a lot of people riled up. I don't want to post spoilers... but IF you pay attention(as you have been doing so far), you'll figure it out. While I haven't replied to your pervious videos, I have watched them. A lot of people call him "Space Jesus"....
    14:07 - Midichlorians were another "controversial plot point". Lucas actually had them written about in his original draft for the overall story... so they aren't exactly new. They weren't mentioned in previous movies, however. Basically what Obi-Wan is saying here, is that Anakin is more powerful in The Force than even Master Yoda(who, at this time, is the "Grand Master" of the Jedi Order).
    15:43 - Yep. That's the whole point. In the back of your mind, you KNOW what's going to happen.... but as you watch it, Anakin is so "nice", that you forget about it consciously.
    16:00 - Holy Hell... I absolutely LOVE your slang! I'm assuming you're British from the accent... and I'm familiar with much of the slang you use. I just find it funny as Hell, as I'm an American with a good amount of "worldly knowledge".
    21:04 - Originally, Yoda was a puppet like he was in Empire, but being honest, the puppet looked like shite. When the VHS/DVD came out, he was replaced with this much better CGI version. Which looks a LOT more like a younger version of Yoda than the puppet did.
    21:10 - Also, notice that just right of Liam Neesen's character... there is another one of Yoda's species sitting on a chair. Her name is Yaddle.
    21:48 - Pause it here, also... and notice that one of the aliens of the Senate are from Steven Spielberg's "E.T."... this was intentional.
    23:02 - When Qui-Gon says that Obi-Wan is "ready for the trials", he means the "test" which will take him from being a Padawan Learner to the level of Jedi Knight. Thing is, the "Trials" effectively tell the Jedi Council not only IF a Padawan is ready to become a Knight, but also where they can best serve the Jedi Order. While Obi-Wan never actually takes the "Trials"(as they are different for each Padawan)... him defeating Darth Maul later on becomes his "Trial Test", thus granting him the title of Jedi Knight.
    23:40 - Oh, my friend... not just "a scrap".... but one of the finest pieces of "classical music" ever written to go along with it.
    34:47 - Well, it's you're opinion, and unlike what many would say, you're entitled to it. The thing is, Jake Lloyd(who played a 9 year old Anakin) had a decent chemistry with Natalie Portman, and he had the look of a very young Luke Skywalker. I think he did a decent job, especially when you consider how Lucas was as a director. He, more or less, would only tell the actors if they did something he didn't like, rather than actually direct them in how he wanted things to go. In other words, he allowed the actors(young and older) to do their job, and only said something when he felt their acting was "out of character" from his vision.
    35:20 - Minor spoiler here; Maul survived being cut in half. He reappears in the Clone Wars animated series, with "droid" legs, and lower body. Part of the reason for this is that Lucas highly underestimated the popularity of the character, thus figured out a way for him to survive his injuries. But yes, Maul WAS the Apprentice to Darth Sidious(I use the name, as it was spoken in dialogue in this movie, so not a spoiler). So, again, after watching Episode II, I recommend watching the Clone Wars animated series(right up until the final 4 episodes)... you will learn a LOT of backstory about the characters you've grown to like, as well as being introduced to some new major characters who factor in heavily further into the timeline. Some reactors do videos on the animated series.... some don't. Either way you decide to go, I do recommend watching them anyway.
    Chronological order: Episode I, Episode II, The Clone Wars(animated series), Episode III, The Bad Batch(animated series), Solo, Rebels(animated series), Rogue One, Episode IV, Episode V, Episode VI, The Mandalorian(live action series), (in December of this year, we get "The Book of Boba Fett", which takes place right after The Mandalorian season 2), Episode VII, Episode VIII, and Episode IX. I have to point out that the final 4 episodes of the Clone Wars series(season 7) take place "in sync" with Episode III, so you should skip those final 4 episodes until after you've watched Episode III. But the rest of the series leads up to that. The animated series are also part of the story.... and while you don't have to do reaction videos to them.... you should at least watch them. As well as the live action series The Mandalorian. I realize it's a LOT to take in.... but everything relates to everything else in some way or another. Which is why I recommend watching all of it.
    As far as the timeline goes.... Episode I takes place 34 years before the events of A New Hope(which is considered "Year 0").... when the first Death Star is destroyed, that's the "Zero Hour", and everything prior to it is considered "BBY"(Before the Battle of Yavin), and everything after is considered "ABY"(After the Battle of Yavin). So, Episode I takes place is 34 BBY, Episode II takes place in 24 BBY, Episode III takes place in 20 BBY. Solo takes place in 10 BBY, Rogue One leads directly up to the events in Episode IV(which is 0 BBY), Episode V takes place in 1 ABY, Episode VI takes place in 3 ABY, The Mandalorian takes place in 13 ABY, Episode VII takes place 30 ABY, Episode VIII takes place directly after Episode VII, and I'm not sure exactly what year(ABY) Episode IX takes place.
    One or two last things: I'm enjoying your videos, and have a habit of giving lots of information related to what you(the reactor) already know.... yet I do my best to NOT post spoilers. Also, I recommend watching not only the animated series, but you SHOULD do reaction videos to The Mandalorian(if nothing else).... those videos are VERY popular, and it would attract more long time fans to your channel. I only found it this morning, and marathon'd your Star Wars videos. I didn't reply to the older ones, as you've already learned what I would say anyway. But this one is new, so I thought I'd chime in. I've been a Star Wars fan since it's initial release in 1977. I loved it so much that I delved very deep into the lore, which is why I tend to leave such long replies. That said, I also try my best to not spoil things(with some minor exceptions here and there, only to encourage you to delve deeper yourself).
    Have a great day, and I look forward to your video on Episode II!

    You ready to have mind blown? Wanna know why the song, played during the Darth Maul fight at the end of the movie, is called Duel Of The Fates? They are dueling for the fate of Anakin, because if Qui-Gon lived he would of trained Anakin, and he would make sure and help Anakin with his premonitions about his mom and Padmé; and that means Anakin wouldn't turn into Darth Vader.
    Mind blown?

    Fun fact: qui gon only had two apprentices in his time one that turned to the dark side. After the first he didn’t want another apprentices. And refused to take any. Obi wan was by his side for quite some time before he was Qui-gon’s apprentice. Later obi became an apprentice. This quick move that qui-gon would want Anakin to become his apprentice shocked the Jedi council, and showed them how much this meant to qui-gon as this wasn’t going to be easy.

    I was 16 when this movie came out and I loved it then, and I love it now. The hate is exaggarated (and while it did get a lot of hate from the media and some aspects of the fandom, there were plenty of people 'in real life' I knew that also really liked it).
    Certainly it's not flawless, and I will absolutely poke fun at the prequels (especially AOTC) but plenty of people love them and always have and I think they tell a really interesting story about how people (and institutions) fall. In some ways it's best to look at these movies as something like an opera - striking visuals, music and broad tropes/archetypes - but not exactly super sophisticated diologue, etc.

    I remember just before Episode 1 came out. I was working in a clothing factory that made pjs and we were making Episode 1 outfits for kids. I initially thought Liam Neeson was Obi-Wan and Ewan MacGregor was Anakin before watching the movie and I didn’t think much about the guy with the helmet and goggles because I was focused on the Jedi characters. I was surprised that started when Anakin was so young.
    People criticize this movie, but the “Duel of the Fates” between Jedi and Sith at the end is my favorite sequence of any Jedi fights I’ve seen. Short but awesome.
    But, Lucas should have asked the fight choreographer for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to direct that sequence. Those fights make the Jedi sequences look amateurish by comparison. More intense, faster and they look more authentic.

    As a child, seeing this film in theaters, I loved it. As I got older, I went through a period of hate because I felt we were cheated because we believed the prequels were the last helping of Star Wars we would have for the rest of our lives. Obviously, that proved to be false with the Disney purchase. Now, with thr seeming never-ending cycle of Star Wars we have, the prequels can be viewed as serving a purpose and moving the story along just fine, unlike the sequels, which I'm sorry, cannot be redeemed. I hated them as I watched them and cannot make it through a viewing without large quantities of alcohol because they are woke clusterfucks with thr sole objective of throwing out all old Star wars like a bag of trash.
