@@theeternalsuperstar3773 Kinda hard to know about it. He's not an easy boss, even if he's a bit easier than Jevil was, and you'd be expected to have used some healing items during the fight. Kinda cool they did that little bit of dialogue for a perfect run with a full inventory.
I love how the “YOU CAN CARRY LIKE 48 ITEMS” line has none of his normal glitchy speech, like he’s so upset that he snaps to normal for a brief second.
“I’ll surpass that [clown around town].” That’s obviously Toby referencing Jevil’s popularity in the past couple of years, and to be honest...he’s absolutely right.
It's referencing Jevil but not his popularity. Jevil was the strongest enemy in chapter 1 and Spamton was saying he'll surpass him in power. But unlike Jevil he actually wanted to do something with his power not sit in a cell.
I like to think that Jevil exists throughout the dark worlds, but only in his cage. Everyone can reach him but he can never be free. Spamton met him in his fit of insanity, living in the darkest parts of the world, and is determined to do what Jevil never could.
I think what I like most about this version of Spamton's voice is that the interruptions don't sound like a robot (as many people made him sound), they sound like other advertisers breaking into his speech, which is what I personally thought was happening. It gives him a really unique way of talking and it suits him perfectly.
Really makes him sound like a [Real Boy!]. I really like the [Number1RatedSalesman1997] impressions with expression in them! And,let me say, Holy [Cungadero] is this a good example of SPAMTON. G. SPAMTON!!
I also think so. Some of the cut-ins sound like they would be in actual adverts. There is one thing I'm noticing though. "Big" and "Big Shot" are always said in Spamton's voice, they don't cut to a line from an ad. That makes me think that those are lines from Spamton's own ads from before he... well... stopped getting calls from G. The "Mike" one is a bid harder. Maybe that was Spamton's name before everything went wrong. Maybe his name was Mike G. Spamton or something like that. Maybe it's someone else who advertises. I don't look that much into the lore of it all that much though, and all of this is just speculation since he doesn't have any audible dialogue in the actual game.
The unintelligible laughter at around 3:18 is so genuinely unsettling, perfect representation of what's probably going through Spamton's head about 50% of the time.
also "WHAT ARE THESE STRINGS!? WHY AM I NOT _BIG_ ENOUGH!?", "SO BIG WE'LL STAND UP TALL AND SEE PAST THE DARK", "I. JUST NEED. THAT. LITTLE. _SOUL._ YYYOU! HAAAVE!" and "I'M SO _PROUD_ OF YOU, I COULD _KILLED_ YOU!"
I like how Spamton's calmed his shit after the fight. Even though it's kinda sad that he won't get the freedom he desperately craves, hearing how calm and accepting he is almost makes up for it.
The delivery of "WATCH ME FLY, [MAMA]!" is surprisingly heartrending; it sounds less like a standard intensifier and more like Spamton's actually calling out to his mother. Really does a lot to emphasize how _broken_ the guy is and how that plays into what makes him such an unsettling figure in Chapter 2.
Fun fact: I based the delivery of “MAMA” off the bit from Pinocchio where the one kid cries out for his mother as he becomes a donkey. Couldn’t resist, what with all the puppet symbolism here.

He looks you in the eye and says exactly what he means just there. And it’s captured perfectly. Chills down my spine.
Totally out of the box thought, but what makes this even more chilling to me is the thought that Spamton's out of character cry for help wasn't from him, but.. From Kris. We don't get to hear any of their thoughts since the player is almost always in control, and given the similarities between Kris's forced reliance on us and Spamton's wires keeping them both alive, it kinda makes sense if he could somehow read into not us, but Kris. The thought of him echoing back their cry for control back at us, and then *staring us in the eyes when he says that was addressed to us?* Yeah, chills down the spine.
I know I said Jerma's voice interpretation was a good one and pretty accurate too... But this is definitely the canon voice of Spamton for me XD And I'm SO happy we finally have an entire compilation of Alex' voice interpretation here in youtube :)
Apart from how perfectly you capture the vibe of the character in general, it's all the extra attention to detail that gets me. Every single time there are brackets in his dialogue, it's clear you put a bunch of thought into how it should sound. Like, what sort of commercial would have these words in it? Or (on occasion) should it be a reference in some way? And he has SO MANY of these, and it never starts to feel old or samey!
Here are all the references I caught: 1:59 Hillary Duff 2:10 Disney’s Haunted Mansion 2:58 CDI Zelda 7:09 Braveheart 8:39 Jesus Christ Superstar Let me know if there are more that I missed!
If I had a dime for every time Alex Rochon voiced an eccentric AI with an iconic design and dark lore tied behind him, I’d have two dimes, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
As I said on Twitter: you are THE voice for Spamton for me. You need to get professionally hired by someone; you have the skills. EDIT: This aged like the finest wine.
Man I hope if Toby Fox ever decides to give Spamton an official voice he picks you with how good you are at it. You thinking of doing Spamton's Snowgrave Dialogs at some point?
I've always found Spamton to be such a tragic character, especially during the NEO fight, and the way you perfectly captured his absolute joy at being able to finally reach the freedom he so desperately desires and his utter brokenness upon that being taken from him sends genuine shivers down my spine. Not only did you masterfully execute the tragedy of his character, you also NAILED him as a whole. Great work, Alex!
Feels kinda weird to be stopping by to this channel again after all these years (top tens feel like a decade ago...wait they were), but holy shit what a performance. This is just my default Spamton voice now haha

YOU were the guy that uploaded all those ancient OST rips? Dude, you are like, a *foundational* part of the experience of tons of TH-cam music listeners, myself included. In a way, it totally fits that you do such justice to Spamton, since you were also something of a [BIG SHOT] yourself back in the older days of the internet. Not that you're also not a [BIG SHOT] now! Keep up the good work, dude!

Wow. You nailed everything about Spamton’s voice! It’s the perfect blend of charisma and insanity. And the glitches, and rapidly changing vocals are definitely the icing on this cake.
That “can anyone hear me? Help” sounded like Kris’s sprite not being under control for a brief moment and spamton knowing this implies that he’s self aware of the situation and it’s horrifying
Bro holy shit. 10 years ago you told me the hardest boss ever was something called Queen Larsa, so I looked it up and it destroyed my child brain, it planted a seed of interest in games like that. When Undertale released, the thing that drew me to it was the simple bullet hell mechanics mixed with rpg elements, I felt like it would be a good way to actually get into games like that. Now we're here bro, you're the established fannon voice of my favorite character in Undertale's successor, what a world bro.
@@qwertyuiop.lkjhgfdsa Seeing the "removed" text? Yeah, that we all (those of us who scrape games for everything we can see) saw. Spamton G Spamton being somehow aware of it? Maybe repeating what he's heard, maybe - from his performance - literally letting the dialogue play through his mouth. THAT has some unique implications.
I'm really happy The Amazing Digital Circus has been so well received. I recognized your voice as Caine instantly. It's good to see some talented VAs get the recognition they deserve.
This dude needs to voice the battle lines too, this is absolutely incredible i can't get enough. The [[DEMAND]] is here, there just needs to be the [[SUPPLY]].
I love the post-fight part (I mercied the boi) where they all walk back in total silence before Susie points out how bizarre that all was, and Kris is just fucked up. Like. They notice he's not holding up well to it, has goosebumps, and when asked if he's okay he just screams the answer. Not sure why, but something about Spamton makes Kris super afraid.
I think it’s that Spamton is a puppet who desperately wants freedom, like Kris with the player, and when Spamton gets free he can’t survive. Kris feels like they’re stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I don't think Kris is afraid of Spamton. Yeah, they're unsettled by him, but I don't think they're terrified. I think it's because Spamton reminds Kris too much of their own situation. They're being puppeted by the player like Spamton is puppeted by, I'm assuming, Gastor or Mike. And seeing the strings above Spamton's head probably reminded Kris of that. And then when Spamton was down to one string, he was obviously ecstatic at finally being set free. I'm guessing Kris was excited to set him free as well, considering *they* were the one to cut the final string, along with them doing it out of our control. Remember, Kris has a sword, aka, the only weapon out of the group that can slash. That slash mark was also blue. And then Kris seeing Spamton collapse after the final string is cut also probably reminded Kris about what happens when they cut their own strings. If their soul is out of their body for too long, I'd suppose they'd die. There's no escape. Just like there wasn't one for Spamton. That's why I think Kris is traumatized after the Spamton NEO fight.
It’s absolutely wild to me that I was just checking this channel a few days ago reminiscing about old top 10 videos, then you post this and I suddenly realise that you ALSO did one of my favourite spamton fan voices. Absolute stone cold legend.
I watched this long before I watched "The Amazing Digital Circus" because Spamton is one of my all time favorite characters and this is like one the best head-canon voices to me, but now that The Digital Circus's Pilot episode is out and he's/you're the voice of Caine, now when I watch this "I hear Caine's voice", and when I watch the pilot episode "I hear Spamton's voice" xD
It's been fun seeing your Twitter gain so much traction from these. I saw one of them on 8BitDrummer's streams and recognized your voice (Probably due to watching the Guidance stuff on ZeldaUniverse), was immediately impressed at how well your take on Spamton was. You captured both the humorous and somber tones very well. The detail on using different clips for the brackets is sheer genius. I think that fits Spamton so much more in the way of dubs. Congrats on getting so many eyes on your Spamton stuff! You are undoubtedly the BIGGEST [BIG SHOT] of them all.
The thing that I respect and admire Toby Fox for, say what you will about his plots, the way he writes characters is almost audible. I've heard some criticize people for giving certain characters the same voice from actor to actor, but I feel like that's a credit to Toby's writing for having a vast majority of people hear the same voice in their head. As someone who aspires to be a writer, that is something I find fascinating and inspiring.
I actually only saw a few of these on your twitter making the rounds, so seeing you did NEO and the Pacifist outcome was a treat! The lengths you went to not just cover his baseline manic salesman personality, but, hit every facet that makes the Spam Mail Man every part endearing, unnerving, tragic...all these shockingly robust elements to a character who has maybe an hour and change of screen time (counting average length of his boss fights) in a roughly eight hour game, yet gives a shocking level of depth even compared to games with several times the run length...it's clear how much you love this character like so many others who watched these, so, thank you for taking the time to record, fuss over how to make each line read work and no doubt however much work the editing in post took. Dear god, but the NEO Pacifist Victory fight reads broke my heart all over again. The dark twist on Undertale's themes of friendship and how, by it's themes, there's a chance he'd just fly away free as a bird, is what makes it even harsher. ...and then you dubbed the error handling for having a full inventory for the full monty of mood whiplash you absolute madlad. Take a bow.
Hey, amazing work on this dub, I pretty much consider your voice canon for Spamton now. Could you tell me how you were able to achieve that crunchy radio-like effect for his voice? I'm doing a video about Deltarune and would love to do something similar!
Assuming you can't just find a 3rd party filter, the 'radio' effect is usually achieved by messing with the EQ, cutting off the bass so that only the higher frequencies get through
I remember watching this before the amazing digital circus, and when i heard caine's voice i thought it was another person and it was just really similar, and when i realised it's the same voice actor my jaw dropped lol

But this is definitely the canon voice of Spamton for me XD
And I'm SO happy we finally have an entire compilation of Alex' voice interpretation here in youtube :)
To be honest, having multiple people be the voice of Spamton and being the various cut-ins would be ideal for him.

And he has SO MANY of these, and it never starts to feel old or samey!

the first one from neo was really scary. no kidding

Your Spamton voice is **chef's kiss** exquisite. I struggle to imagine a better interpretation of the character.

That's why I think Kris is traumatized after the Spamton NEO fight.
don't wanna be rude but kris uses they them only actually

I watched this long before I watched "The Amazing Digital Circus" because Spamton is one of my all time favorite characters and this is like one the best head-canon voices to me, but now that The Digital Circus's Pilot episode is out and he's/you're the voice of Caine, now when I watch this "I hear Caine's voice", and when I watch the pilot episode "I hear Spamton's voice" xD
Bro, I love the raw emotion you put in every variant of his voice. You are amazing!
I fullt believe this is how Alex got the role of Caine
so the reason caine has such strong spamton energy is because i'm pretty sure you just straight-up did the spamton voice
This is the best voice of Spamton. It's literally exactly what I imagine the game is trying to convey.

Spamton is sincerely terrifying with his unhinged dialogue fully realized
Take a bow.
