Ive had this watch about a week the shipping to the u.k was about 2 weeks,it arrived in excellent condition,Thorn has once again delivered a masterpiece,the movement {PT5000} is running very well,the Sapphire Crystal is amazing and the lume is out of this world,and all this in a Titanium Watch, with 3 links removed its only 93grams,the link removable system is a game changer....
The two deal breakers that prevent me from 2buying are 1) the lack of a Japanese movement, and 2) EXPLORATION ROAD. So close Thorn, so very close.
It does also come with a japanese movement though ;) You can choose several different movements...
Great review, Zee. The new bracelet mechanism is amazing, but seems to me too good to be true, considering AliExpress brands lack of quality control and problematic tolerances. I fear many will receive bracelets with annoying defects. Hope I'm wrong.
Nice one Zee. It is a fantastic watch for the money.. I bottled out and went for the blue version but I don't think there will be any losers in the colour department. The blue was astonishing too. A real surprise :)
Yeh you can't go wrong with blue/black tbh particularly if you wanted to keep it too

For information, the same strap length system was used on Addiesdive AD2112 last year.

I believe Addiesdive came out with a stainless steel version of that bracelet with the same link system over a year ago. This is definitely the first titanium version though! Great looking watch for the money!

RMalti has been using the same link adjustment system for a year now. My GS GMT has exactly the same mechanism.
The bracelet adjustment system is amazing. I have not seen an easier system. It is the best watch innovation of the year. Yes, lume looks nuclear bright. I hope it lasts all night as well.
The bracelet is so easy to adjust that you can do it with one and a half thumb. Hope it will be the new standard

“Exploration Road” spoils a great watch. That bracelet adjustment system is amazing and something I’ve never seen and would have only expected on a premium watch. Innovation and engineering on a budget. Brilliant.

I have an Apple Watch bracelet with the same sizing mechanism. Definitely a game changer.
I got my first Thorn in the last sale - their BB58 homage (having it resized now because I stabbed myself four times trying to resize the double screw rivit style bracelet) ... also their Fifty Fathoms is on my list ... that said this looks amazing.
I was leaning towards the Seestern Titanium Pelagos homage in blue but this may bump that.
Brushed finish on the bracelet looks good. Can’t help noticing how they put a slight bend on the minute hand to clear those huge hour markers.
It's a very nice watch Zee . Those markers are exceptional. I don't mind the red hand and text, but agree with removal of the Thorn script and putting a bigger logo instead . Excellent review as ever !

Those lume plots thick, much more so than on my Tudor P39. That bracelet adjustment system too, wow I hope that becomes the norm. Very innovative.
I watched your review on Thorn’s BB58 and I noticed that the glass didn’t bother you or at least, you didn’t mention it. I had to change the one in mine as the boxed glass and blue AR coating reflected light horribly, the dial was white and blue most of the time and had double reflections. It really bothered me. I know that the glass on this new Thorn is different, it’s flat, right? Would you consider this to have a better glass? Or at least, something that will not get in the way of enjoying that beautiful dial? Thanks!
Wait until you review the San Martin model it far exceeds other competition I have one.
The blue version and a Casio Frogman were my BF purchases. The Thorn has become my new daily.....and the Frogman my dress(!) watch.

I love the link system but could have done with an extra removable one. I have 6.5" wrists and removed all four of the removable links and needed to go down a couple of micro adjustments too. At 89 grams it's over 30% lighter than my other divers, and fills the gap of the Pelagos/Sea Urchin style I've wanted for a long time. Lume is awesome too.
I definitely have to pay more attention to Thorn and that bracelet is awesome. Bonafide SM Killer. Those are strong words. Thanks for the great review!

Not so keen on the patina but the bracelet I look forward to. Unfortunately, I already have an IX and Dao with a Selita. So that is all for this style but I have my eye on future bracelets.
I think your watch variant homages the Pelagos LHD, which I really like.

that is one heck of an organic dial. not a fan of the snowflake hour hand though. the thorn text though could've been applied too
I like that it has a pt5000 movement.Slimmer,smaller & a 28,800 vph ,which compared to the NH35 with a VPH of only 21,600

That bracelet as well man. Holy smokes. Absolutely game changed until we see enough of them to see how well they stand up but, you generally resize once and that's it so.... Game changed
I picked one of these up and just something to bear in mind, there seems to be less removable links due to the way the mechanism works. I have a 6.5" wrist and I've taken out all the removable links and I'm on the last hole of micro adjustment. I don't like to wear watches loose, but if you're a similar sized wirst or smaller you may struggle.
My wrist is 6.5" and i didn't have this issue
Ive seen that style of bracelet on a higher end watch before but i cant remember who has done that before

I had been waiting for a review on this watch in this exact iteration. The one color that I actually would not remove is the red one, I wish the black and blue versions had that red second hand. The dial looks amazing but at times that yellow looks too yellow for my taste (especially outdoors). I own the Thorn BB58 and I love it except for the glass, the white and blue reflections were the worst ever and the most frustrating, I had it changed. I hope this new Thorn has a better glass. I agree about the gaps between the crown and the guards, they are too wide. I hope they could fix this. Thanks so much for this video!

I had the same issue with a Seagull watch where the rotor spins when winding the watch. Its annoying.

Nice review as usual....a few things.
1. that tool-less link sizing isn't new, addiesdive had it early last year. they stopped using it quickly after the fact for some reason. I really don't see it coming out to more watches, sizing a watch is a one time thing...I'd rather they put an on the fly clasp instead.
2. when did we start calling IXDAO "NineDao"? IIRC IXDAO is a combination of the 2 guys' names, so it should be pronounced IX-Dao...early on the name was IX&DAO, they have since shortened it.
3. the watch looks fantastic, I love those solid lume markers, I hope 2024 is the year for those to make it into more watches.
4. that small crown would madden me to no end, I hate being able to see the gap to the crown guards

The IX is represented in in the Chinese name with the number nine, so it's meant to be a Roman numeral.

To be a San Martin/ Cronos/ Seestern killer they need to incorporate a glidelock or quick adjust clasp.
I like the link removal system - but I agree that durability/ reliability is the question that only time will answer (just like Seagull and PT5000 movement questions).
If only they put this bracelet on the bb58...

Update. I ended up sending it back because the ghost date function would stop the watch once every 24 hours. I would have to advance it to get it running again only to stop at the same time 24 hours later. Returned for refund. :(

@TheWatcherReviews Yeah I'm not so keen on the yellow either. Dark grey light grey rehort, and a red or orange GMT hand would be more acceptable. I'd pay a bit extra for a micro adjust too.
Still they are way under the price of San Martins GMTs and they are all steel only.

Congratulations! I love your presentation, however, in my opinion, wearing gloves would greatly enhance your presentation. Notice other reviewers do in order to keep watch from fingerprints. Hope this helps.
They're a little late to the game. So many others have already made this watch. To me, the glossy bezel is a big mistake. It needs to be matt like the original. Most of the other homages got it right.
Thanks for another nice review. Still I believe is not enough to stand it out over the other Pelagaus homages. The tool less bracelet adjustment system I can only see it as another potential point of failure. Once I size watches I never ever touch them again, unless I sell them. And sometimes I even misplace the extra links. Give me a San Martin style push button on the fly adjustment clasp, and I'll be golden. In fact, none of the current homages from any manufacturer offer this kind of clasp, only San Martin, but I don't like their Pelagaus homage. Another thing is the bezel insert. Polished inserts are a fingerprint magnet. And finally, why keep pushing the PT5000? Why not an NH38 and shave a few bucks out of it? So far the IXDAO looks like the one that is getting closer, although still not quite there. If they add the easy adjust clasp, I'll be all over it.
BTW, I know the name is not Pelagaus. I just don't want to trip any copyright alarm ;)
