    That is not a quad bike...... It's a side by side with a roll cage..... Once again the media can't even get the story straight..... What's next? Only allowed to drive them with a special license, and that will most likely cost a lot of money to get?

      Was about to point that out, the fact you can't bail out of them like a quad must be worse in some situations like this, I've rolled quads several times over the years and have always been able to step off as it rolls and one case let momentum roll it over me ( that was the infamous 3 wheeler though). I'm more careful these days, Sadly a lot of these are weekend warrior types not used to riding them and it makes the farm stats look bad.

      @@mvb88 correct they do, but my point is you can bail off a quad, if you're belted into a side by side and go off a cliff you're screwed, as you can't get out.

      @silverdale3207 be the same logic for cars. If your going to have a head on collection with a truck. You can't jump out because of the seat belts.

      @@mvb88 Totally different, in some cases the belts and ROPs are a good thing but as I said in this case and some others they would have been able to jump clear if it was a quad instead of being taken to the bottom like Ragdolls.

    The biggest cause of quad rollovers is the best hidden one. The tyres on them run between 7psi to 12psi. All tyres lose air almost never at the same rate as each other. If after a week one tyre has lost, say, 3psi (or 25 - 50% of it's air pressure) it won't be obvious visually to the rider, but it will become obvious when stuff hits the fan. Too late then.

      It's all about training and experience. It a bit of why a lot of farmer's don't have them any more. Main reason is that 2 wheelers are cheaper to run and your going to have to be doing some decent speed to die via a crash on one. Normally worse case scenario. You get a broken leg or arm from falling off a 2 wheeler as farms Normally have a 30km/h limit.

    When I was working on my great uncle farm and it was on high country farm.
    We bought a four wheel motorbike before it went on the farm the four wheel motorbike went into the workshop to put a roll cage on it.
    We put a sheep cage on the back towball.
    I have roll the four wheel motorbike on the side if I had not had the roll cage.
    I would of roll to the bottom of the hill and I was thinking about how to be safe.
    If it's too steep of a hill do not ride a four wheel motorbike on and not side on a hill at all.

    That's really too steep hill to go straight down safety for even experienced it does look like a orchard type 4 wheeler not a 4x4. There is high risk of tipping from grass surface/slipping and downward forces of gravity. Sitting way back and lowest gear good tread and a route unrutted minium. Tarseal is dangerous especially riding fast on 4 wheeer was speed a issue? Actually even in a car a person can roll it by road surface, turning or braking too fast. Rocks and hidden ruts turn a small wheel base easily even at slow speed. The roll bar should be mandatory now on new vehicles and helmets are recommended. Note 2 wheel drive quads also drive different to 4X4 especially on different surfaces I recommend the Agrbusiness type safety course used to be free through ACC funding I did it with our son also safe chainsaw and tractor use.

    • @keyboardwarrior9199
      @keyboardwarrior9199 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 2 wheel drive quads are usually for sport/racing right? You kinda don't want restrictions on those since you don't want to hinder the riders movement and agility.

      Roll protection kills as many as it saves. Fact is farmers have more work to do than non farmers could comprehend, and quads are essential to the NZ economy in getting it done, deaths or no deaths
      But I miss the point here, this is just part of a broader campaign for everyone to say what they really think about farmers
