Mykola Lysenko arr. Armstrong: Sinfonietta Op.16a for small orchestra

This is my orchestration of Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko's wonderful Piano Sonata of 1875. As soon as I heard it, I knew I wanted to orchestrate it. Lysenko, like Glinka before him in Russia, is widely regarded as the father of Ukrainian national music. His country was part of the Russian Empire at the time and he clashed with the state about the use of the Ukrainian language in his operas - speaking or singing in Ukrainian was banned. It feels poignant to be posting this now considering the awful predicament his home country is in today at the hands of the same northern-eastern neighbour.
