YES! The GLC did it! You've now been to the two most coveted places in Southern California where (Outdoor) nude photography flourished from the late 1940s through the 1950s! (The other location being Corriganville) Some of the very first Playboy models posed at the Spider Pool and many of the photos taken there were by THE Harold Lloyd (He also photographed Tura Satana there) There was also quite a bit of (Existing) filmed-footage there for Loops and Penny Arcade-viewing too. (At 10:57) the model in the center is Thelma Montgomery who appeared in the 1954 film, GIRL GANG (Which is easy to find here on TH-cam) The film's producer was George Weiss--Who also produced GLEN OR GLENDA! So there! An Ed Wood connection at The World Famous Spider Pool! Thanks for this fantastic video, Michael. And please be sure to return there with Jessica!!
Awesome ! I've read up a lot on the Spider Pool and was stoked to see you went there and put this new video up ! It just always amazes me of these items that are lost to time and the elements. It's almost hard to believe that all those people were there that those pictures show. One thing that came to mind is how deep that pool was right in front of the spider and I wonder if that any remnants of the pool remain under the dirt ? In other words was the pool just filled in with dirt and so parts of it are actually intact under the dirt ? BTW when you posed at the spider pool I LOLed. You were in heaven ! Thanks for the video ! :)

Hi!! I really love this! The Spider Pool mural has a magical shrine feel about it. Quite unique and rather special 🕷🕸 .....I believe there must be specific, 20th centuary archaeological excavator services that could professionally clear the site back to it's originality and expose what has been hidden over the years. Also, there must be other professional services whom could advise on how to preserve the site for perpetuity. I guess the spider and the web surface could be cleaned back to reveal it's original white surface? Many thanks for (lawfully) bringing us to this beautiful magical hidden gem! Oh, imagine visiting here at dusk or night time, with candles lit up against the spider mural :) H.H!
I didn't know about this one. Thanks for showing it in a calm and respectful way. Pretty cool. I'm going to have to read up in this one. If their is a next time up there, find a whole piece of tile and make a coaster out of it. Thanks for sharing that history.
On a side note, does anyone else notice how the Hollywood Hills have had a lot of mysterious fires and places burning down for no reason? Is there some kind of houceuix or something there?

Greetings Grimms ❤. I believe I see Michaels hands shaking while touching the spider. So happy you took us on this adventure. Thank you so much. It is amazing
@grimmlifecollective ❤️❤️🤩🤩 very cool that you got to take that piece of tile! I was on a miniature grimm adventure myself this weekend. I live in the north of sweden. Went to visit my father who lives only a couple of kilometers away from an old gallows hill. I was standing there in the silence of the forrest, imagining how they were comming with horse and carrige to face their deaths. On the marker for the site you can read the names and crimes. One man had robbed the church, one had killed a man of the law and a woman who had killed her baby. It is an isolated place and it was not used very often. But I bet it served its purpouse. All of the executions were done by axe and took place durig between 1700 and 1800. Very very cool. I will go back there during the summer and really spend some time alone there. See if I can feel the precense of the executed.

That is so cool Michael, I never heard of this place, great for the owner to give special access to it👍
Thanks for taking us on yet another awesome adventure. That spider mural is extremely cool.
Outstanding once again Michael 😂
And you looked so cool leaning against the Spider Tile❤
Thank you Kate 💜. Happy Halloween and thank you for watching.
The spider is very beautiful.. it's really cool. I would have loved to see the place before it was abandoned. I love all this history. When You talk about it.. you bring everything a live again.
We love walking history and love taking you all with us. Thank you for watching Aimee.
@grimmlifecollective yall are very much welcome.. I really enjoy watching them..
I'm so glad you took a piece from something so beautiful and amazing! 🎃
It is now part of Grimm Life
I enjoy all of your videos! I hope you and Jessica have a wonderful day 🎃
Thanks for the history, Michael. I loved that twisted tree branch hanging over the trail. Such a creepy frame for a spider shot. The only way it could have been better would be in a twilight fog.
Ooooo…a foggy morning in the Hollywood Hills at the Spider Pool would be amazing.
What a awesome part of old Hollywoodland! What a neat time in history! All the woman back then were so beautifully dark looking the makeup ,the hair so steamy lovely! Right on sir you always get it right
Thank you for watching Jeff…and right? Can you imagine going back in time to that pool even if it’s just for a minute.
Thanks for the awesome video and part of Hollywood history
Jessica not being there for a pin-up photo op is definitely a missed opportunity. You must return someday with the lovely Jessica for a follow-up/revisit video.
It will happen. Health issues.
@@grimmlifecollective I've noticed that she has missed out on a few events and I'm definitely saddened to hear of health issues. Please know that we will keep her in our prayers and hope for a full, speedy recovery.
The walkway to get to it is Magical. It's amazing how well preserved the spider chunk is. WOW🕷🕸🕷
Magical and otherworldly indeed. Thank you so much for watching Gypsy.
I spent a lot of time 20 years ago, working with a number of folks online (in the days of LJ, IYKYK) and locally, trying to find that place.
After I'd moved I heard someone finally tracked it down, but I never was able to visit.
Thanks for this vid.
Sometimes the search is better than actually finding it. But when you do find it then it’s even better. Really happy that we can help take you there to see it. Thank you for watching.
Pretty cool. I'm going to have to read up in this one. If their is a next time up there, find a whole piece of tile and make a coaster out of it. Thanks for sharing that history.
Very cool. Seems so peaceful. It was really nice of the owners to have invited you in.
Congrats on the find. Places like this are disappearing or now off limits. Your enthusiasm is unmatched, thanks for the video.
The spider mural is the only thing still intact out of everything else.
On a side note, does anyone else notice how the Hollywood Hills have had a lot of mysterious fires and places burning down for no reason? Is there some kind of houceuix or something there?
Never grim when the grimms are about happy Halloween 🎃 guys always a pleasure....
I remember seeing this on someone else's vlog years ago. It really is so cool and amazing. Hope it stays there for many, many more years to come. Thank you Michael for this lovely video. You always show great things on your channel.
Thank you for watching Laura…happy Halloween 🎃
Another place Earl Flynn's mansion thank you guys for doing this, cool stuff cool places
I absolutely love the respect you have for people and property. It gives your videos a classy feel that few other content creators exhibit. Plus, your videos are already at a higher level than most others.
Thank you so much for the kind words. It really does mean the world to us.
Morning 👻 Michael and Jessica. 🧡 Knowing Hollywood Cause Of Grimm Life Videos 📹 😁🤘 Your T Shirt Rocks Michael 🔥🔥🔥
Los Angeles must have a number of interesting pools built during the golden age of Hollywood
There has been some crazy ones for sure…and some of them still exist. Old Hollywood 💜
Man, where to start....the purple spider was absolutely beautiful 💜 Could not get a visual of the pool until you stood up top. The erosion is wild. I'm so glad you took a souvenir!! So interesting thank you Grimm🧡🎃🧡
It's probably for the best, otherwise skaters would have found it.
The erosion is just insane to me. I mean, I know it happens but to see it in that situation just makes it real. Happy you liked the video
Took about 10 minutes but I found it, love to see historical Hollywood ty
I can only imagine how beautiful it once was. You are so lucky to have unlimited access to the Spider Pool. It is ashame Jack's house was burned down. If those walls could talk😉🖤💚
Oh the stories that could be told if the walls or Spider could talk.
Thanks for sharing this Mike, it's a one of a kind Pool.🕷️
Thank you for watching Matthew 🎃
This and the PickFair estate! Wish they were still here, I love old Hollywood history.
LOVE YOU GUYS!!! ❤❤❤
Love you as well Cindy.
I think it is AWESOME you were able to get access to that location. Way to go 👏 👏 YES please do another video when you can bring Jessica ❤
Ooh... if that spider could talk!!
Thanks for dragging us up the hill.
Grimm for Life 👻!
You are more than welcome and thank you as always for watching. Boo 👻
@grimmlifecollective
Hahaha... did you just call me "Boo" ?
Love this video! I've never heard of the spider pool, but what a treasure to find! Thanks, Michael, for another awesome Hollywood history lesson! Love to you and Jessica.❤
Thank you so much for watching Mary.
Crazy that’s the only thing that survived the fire. Awesome you were able to track it down!
Right? It’s still there and it is properly documented. Thank you so much for watching.
You guys are spoiling me with these Sunday mornings uploads, thank you for all your hard work. Happy Halloween
Nothing beats a good weekend video…Happy Halloween Rachel
You know, don’t really have a close relationship with spiders, especially after I watched a huge black one running across my yard one night……but this is really cool! Thank you for sharing! Very special. Could you see that in the bottom of a pond?? Wow! You could build one….🤔🤗
My mind is officially blown. I had never heard of Jack McDermott and his Spider Pool until now. I noticed how the spiderweb formed a spiral. That makes me wonder if McDermott had any occult beliefs. Thanks for taking us there!
Thank you for watching and going on this adventure with us.
Your tattoos are perfect for this video!
Hmmmm…I didn’t even think about that. Nice catch.
Yesss! His spider web tattoos match perfectly!
Excellent job, thank you for sharing...
Another fantastic find Old Sport..if you want to know more about the Hidden History, look up Malorie Mackey at Malorie's Adventures, an artical about the Spider pool, and it's lore, love finds like this. looking for said pics next!
I was thinking the same, one day none of it will exist, it'll all be crumbled away so when you saw the tiles on the hill i was urging you to take one 😃👍
As long as the foundation is good the thing could be there for centuries ? if only the Wall Spider could talk !
Right? Really hope that it is for many many more years.
Cool 😎 thanks
this is so cool, i love it
You are such a nice person. Anybody would be happy to have you investigate their property because you honor your words. This was so cool. It takes us back to a magical time during Old Hollywood where the movie industry got its start. Fascinating. Bring baby Ghoul next time!!
That’s beautiful!! Thanks for sharing this Michael
Thank you so much for watching. Happy Halloween 🎃
Fascinating mural. Awesome job on this video. I love the Hollywood history you examine.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
You are so amazing and once again showing us something so intriguing. Model! Go for it! Yes! You are too cool! I can feel your excitement! Too bad it can't or won't be preserved. That would be awesome. If you find out anymore about the buildings and pool, keep us informed. I found this most interesting. I can't say I know that much about old Hollywood so I am glad you do! As always, thank you for taking us along!
Thank you for the love Jane. And thank you for watching…Happy Halloween
Thank you so much for acknowledging my comment. It means so much to me. Whatever I say to you comes from my heart. If you ever come my way - New York., remember we have the movie site for I Drink Your Blood. You must know that campy movie. In the day I imagine it was frightening. I just chuckle when I watch it. Woodstock, Vermont was the movie site to Ghost Story and Woodstock is a wonderful place to visit! Tuck them in the recesses of that amazing mind of yours. I am sending 💚 to baby ghoul!
Greetings Grimms ❤. I believe I see Michaels hands shaking while touching the spider. So happy you took us on this adventure. Thank you so much. It is amazing
Yes, they were. I was beyond excited.
Gorgeous tile work
There are pics of the pool on google images. 😊
I love your passion Grim!
