I have to say I just loved the horses. But I just can't believe there aren't more comments about how funny you made the walk through in that hotel room. We'dBee laugh'n so hard I got honey all over myself! Are you sure you weren't in an already occupied room? I mean...that was outrageous! I could live with the spider as we have huge cane spiders in Hawai'i, but the crap on the wall, the toilet paper on the tub, the hair on the toilet seat, the nurdle of toothpaste (hey, it was complimentary), and no need for pizza delivery...you had an enchilada in the microwave! Now THAT'S SERVICE!😅😅 You couldn't script "crap" like this, Eric. I never laughed so hard in my life. I give you the 2023 Oscar for best TH-cam Comedy! Thank YOU, Eric!

Always check for bed bugs in a motel , Lift the mattress and check the seams for bed bugs . You do not want to take any with you

*THIS!!!* IT CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH!! Always, ALWAYS, *ALWAYS* check the bed first thing before you sit on it because you have no idea what was on the person/people before you. and we all here know how NASTY most people are! I said Most, not all, just simmer down, Okay?
Needles, drugs, spent shell casing, infectious bodily fluids on the wall &/or toilet..... you get the idea!

We were having problems with the air conditioner filters at hotels. I got sick one time and it ruined her vacation, so from then on, I would check the air filters. In every case they were nasty. And I would demand a fresh air filter. Or go get one myself. Once we bought the RV for traveling around, we never had that problem. The main reason we needed the RV originally was because we refused to be abused by the airlines. Having a clean place to sleep, turned out to be a bonus.

    • @jodichambers3484

Most a/c filters in rooms are cleanable. Turn them fuzzy side down and run it under the tap, takes the junk out of it. Let it dry and reinstall. Don't scrub at it, it will ruin the filter.

I have done a lot of traveling and spent many nights in motels. My experience has been that Super 8 is typically one of the worst chains to stay in. I have had better luck staying in the older Mom & Pop run motels. They are typically not the most modern, but mostly they are clean and well maintained. I also like Days Inn, as most of them have doors that open to the outside, not in a hallway which I prefer. Great video as usual. Only three more months until my wife and I go full time on the road.

Hi 😊 I’m one of your fans that watched all your latest videos, but on a “dumb TV,” so I’m back to like them, and express my thanks for your creativity. Maybe the longer videos are too much for people…I loved them, but I know what the analytics showed. I care about you, although we’ve never met, and want for you to live your best life. I’ve always enjoyed your videos because of you, secondarily to what you do. If you choose to stop, it’s okay….but I sure have been looking forward to watching you build out your home base! (No pressure lol.) You are a gem in my world, and will continue to be brilliant which ever direction your road takes. Thank you for the wonderful content you have shared thus far! Your emotional and mental health must come first. Take care of you first. Do what makes you happy. Much love to you and the kitties from San Diego.

That room was unacceptable no matter what at any price point. But, yeah, Super 8 aren't known for their fancy accommodations. I would say you probably need to be in the $100+ range for a halfway decent room/location, depending on the location. Much higher in tourist or nicer areas.

  • @joanscotto5822

    LOVED the Squirrels!!!
It's a Super-8. That's low budget. for $40-50 a night you can't expect 1st class condition. (Broken fan & TP roll holder, smells like smoker used it)
However the electrical outlet and smoke detector are safety issues that SOULD be high priority repairs. AND, I would certainly expect the room to be clean, and it was not.

For $4oish a night on special I'd expect run down but clean unless it's in a bad area. I've been put up in far more expensive hotels in rough neighborhoods that were absolutely disgusting.
One extended stay came with a bag of adults toys in the kitchen cabinet....

I, like you, am a RVer and HATE staying at hotels... when I have to I stay at only Wyndham Hotels... I had such a bad experience with randoms (it was actually worse than yours). I agree bottom price point is $90-75. They do not clean anymore. i am so afraid of bed bugs!

I had a similar hotel experience in Cleveland. Once we complained, they stopped picking up our garbage and giving us fresh towels. We had to go to walmart to get cheap bedding. It was that bad. I discovered airbnb's and I am hooked.

I agree with your review of motel, quality is not what it used to be. Standards are lacking.
    Otherwise great video, thanks.

Fort Worth, my home town. Wish we could have met up. I had sent you a DM but I know you get a million. Next time you’re in the area, I’ll be happy to show you some more sights. Sorry about the room, that’s not the best part of town either.. enjoy your travels

That first room was more than unacceptable, in these times $100 is the minimum. That room was hazardous at best, really should be reported, BBB, OSHA perhaps. You make good points about just staying in the RV but also the freedom of just checking into a hotel once in a while isn't a bad idea. Stay away from Super 8's, Red Roofs, and generally speaking hotels without a front lobby and hallways to access the room!

I would never stay in a motel like that. Read the reviews before going to a Super 8. Your friends are right. 80 to 100 and you still have to check the room. I hate staying in motels.

I understand where you friends are coming from but also see your on hotel rooms. For cheap but decent hotels look at your motel 6's. They are no frills but "usually" clean. The newer ones at least.

🚨 I do believe I’d be filing a complaint with the state inspector or board of health dept regarding that hotel experience to include video content’s proof of such regardless of having gotten another room of questionable cleanliness.
