Eric, THANK YOU so much for including the Jax Angel back into your outro😻 for me, he is the embassador for all of the kitty angels! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU🎄 from Mrs. Ed Layne
I saw the most unique table in an RV video. They had a plank with the live edge on both sides. The plank was split in half, the live edges were turned to the inside, and colored resin was poured to connect the two sides. It was beautiful. That could also make a beautiful countertop.
Top tip: paint every single hole you make so it doesn’t rust. I use enamel krylon but anything is better than nothing. I use it because it dries quickly and I can do two or three coats. Also, clean up those shavings for the same reason!
Not sure about your NVR but a lot of them have an ac plug to 12v DC, instead of using that plug you can just run straight 12v from your batteries to power it. That's what I did with mine.
One thing you might want to consider about your front camera is that the IR night vision probably won't work when looking through glass. I have one set up like that. All I could see at night was the reflection of the IR lights in the glass. I can turn off the IR lights and just use existing visible lights, but then you can't see anything except maybe a person right under the porch light and very close to the camera.
Great video! When I put my night vision camera facing out of a window the reflection from the night vision made unusable. Hopefully yours has better technology and won’t have that problem.
I can't get over the mirrors. They look like caterpillar antennas super cool and unique. The bus is coming along nicely. I can't wait to see what's in-store for the future. 👍
If you are building a school bus into an RV and you are in the first steps, wouldn’t it be hard to not show where the security system will be set up at? I think it’ll be best to have it by your bed.. so you can check the monitor and be able to see everything in your resting area

Hey, he showed where the wiring was so now everyone knows at least the locale of it. Maybe not what piece of furniture it will be included in...

Eric, you showed your bus school lights in the rear up top and said “blacked out”, could you have just wired those to show brake lights and turn signals? I see a lot of semi’s that have those at the top of their trailers and it’s nice to see what they intend to do, especially turning, when the lower lights are blocked by another vehicle…. just a thought
Have you run across a dash cam that works good in the dark with just the headlights? I’ve tried 2, one cheap and one mid price. The cheap didn’t work and the middle price one did show my headlights, kind of. But both worked great in daylight.
Looking good, Eric. Hey, regarding that hard drive. I would suggest instead an SSD. Having a hard drive with it's platters spinning 90 times a second traveling around in something that could cause jarring impacts to it can lead to early failure. An SSD has no moving parts to cause physical damage, so they're going to be more robust in motion. Otherwise you should shut it down when preparing to drive off. That's what I do with my NAS, shut it down before I move.
SSD is pretty new technology. Old school hard drives worked fine in laptops for years, traveling all over the place getting banged around. Doesn’t really matter, imo.
@@jeffbrdr laptops all use SSD by default now because mechanical drives aren't meant to be moved and bumped when running. SSDs aren't that new, they've been around more than 30 years and they're not that much more expensive if at all...
@@jeffbrdr They worked fine for years in laptops, but it was very rare for laptops to actually be on and accessing the drive while being "banged around." SSD is not new technology. It's been around for 35 years. Oh, and the reason I shut my NAS off before I move? Because I've had to replace hard drives before I realized I needed to shut them down before moving.
Good morning Eric, Diana, kitties, & friends!! ... Eric, don't let those trolls get to you! They are going to try! Jealousy is just another form of hate!🤗
I did a four cam setup, with the HD included, ended up being $300 including the warranty coverage. Then i had to get another battery and bigger solar panel... And in winter, theres not enough sun even with 400w solar for 300ah to run it through the night and recharge my batteries during the day....😅 But i got a recording of my parents' neighbor that decided to slander us and harass me, long story, blasting his horn in the night, sent that to the HOA, and he got scolded by everyone. So its been worth it even if not every night. Though i did miss someone trying to break into someone else's trailer's truck...the guy protected himself, but assumed it was me because the assailant ran behind my RV as i got up to turn on my cams. Looking forward to mid February when there will be short enough nights and ling enough days to run it 24/7 😅 Definitely fun having 50' of wire to go 5' 😅😂
This question might sound bizarre but would you ever be able to make the bus a stationary tiny home if you had to? I mean basically you are building a house, it's just on wheels. Maybe when you're 70 you might want to still travel but just shorter trips and have a livable home base. God forbid something happens like with poor Felix and you have to stay stationary for a while. Sorry I'm sounding like a downer but I'm curious what the longevity of the bus could be for someone who has property like you but eventually wants or needs to become stationary. I would be thinking why sell the bus and buy a house or tiny home when I've already built my ideal home. Does that make sense?
This has nothing to do with this video, but I was wondering, are you gonna put some type of fuel gauge on your heater? It be terrible to run out of diesel fuel in the middle of the night.
That's a question you would have to ask some of them. Some of them can be nice people. Some of them can be not nice people. Did you even watch the video? Also, people in general can make claims about you and you have no way to justify yourself. The best course of action is to keep records of everything. Notice my comment mentioned sometimes I didn't say all the time i said sometimes people can be. Don't you think that we, as citizens and human beings should all be held accountable to some of the same standards?
The blacked out flashing stop lights at the top of bus...I'd clean those out and rewire them to turn signals / brake lights..that way have lights that can be seen 😳 when towing trailer or truck😊
On your front camera put a block in between the camera and bus. This will lower the camera so not to have any blocked as well as a better viewing angle.
Hello Eric, looks good, hope works like you want! I think security cameras are a good thing, but I can’t bring myself to drilling all those holes in my coach , Lol. I will do some more research on them . Thanks for sharing!
Eric, that hole in the mounting plate is usually put there for the wire to come out the side instead of through the hole in the back if you can't drill through the mounting surface for whatever reason. You can use it as a drain, but that's not it's intended purpose. :)
Yeah, this is a thing. Drill the outside, remove the material stuck in the saw, drill again to go through with the pilot bit... Now you know exactly where to be with no measuring or guessing.
Very good price for what you get. Do the LED's come on when motion is detected at night, and if so, do they provide adequate illumination? I like night vision but the best cameras I have owned for night time recording are the ones that turn on a bright light when motion is detected. The light provides a much clearer image in the recording in low light situations as opposed to simply using the night vision technology where the image has that greenish glow to it.

That’s an impressive system. Bus build is interesting and looking good!
Thank you, I actually learned something from this video.
Consider an SSD hard drive. No moving parts to fail on a bumpy road...
That is the same brand I got. Been going now for a couple years. With 4 cameras going it uses about 1 amp 12v. Night vision is spectacular.
I would recommend renaming the bus!
At least give some recommendations 🙂

Are cameras that note temperature any good or useful?

Next time you might consider PoE cameras. One Ethernet cable for data and power.
You are smart to install cameras. Sad that society is like this today, but you have to protect yourself and your property.
