Thanks a lot for Justin for making these videos on Survival analysis. This is a great detail video on Censoring. Looking forward to more videos on this topic. This series probably won't generate much views initially as Survival analysis is not that popular in comparison to other algorithms but trust me dude, this series will help generations because there is hardly any content on this. Cheers and have a great new year!

I'm really wondering!!! without these well constructed lecture videos, how we would understand these difficult and complicated statistical concepts. The ideas remain flying around our brains until watching those nice videos, then they come to land smoothly and be fixed in our minds. Thanks a lot ZSTATISTICS

Really appreciate this entire series. Especially the fact that you prepared concise content that is easy to understand and has actual paper references. I'd keep the entire survival analysis series as a personal reference. (It doesn't matter that this is still in progress)
Are you also going to cover Restricted mean analysis?

One callout - In the video description, I got a bit lost identifying the exact paper because the paper title differed from the study objective you presented in video. Could you also add a couple of words in beginning to clarify which paper is for which concept? (got lost for Right truncation)

Thank you so much for your videos!! One question, what if my sample has finite time, and I know the end period of my sample the probability of experiencing the event is zero? Can I still apply the survival analysis? Would individuals that "survived" (and thus won't experience the event in the future) be considered "right-censored" still?

Thank you for sharing! I just have a question about the right truncation. Say if we exclude the people that take a long time to have AIDS from our sample, the result will be biased towards the quickly-getting-AIDS direction. If this statement is true, why should we do the right truncation? Should we expand the experiment time or what are we supposed to do? Thank you!

For survival analysis does there need to be an exposure? For example, suppose for the past 5 years I have been following a set of businesses and some closed during that time, with the month of closure known, can I do survival analysis, where the closure is the death of the business. There is no actual event here that makes them of interest to me, e.g. a diagnosis of some kind, I am following all relevant businesses from time t. Of course many businesses will have existed before time t (is this left censoring?)

  • @fernandoaloisiohm

    Hello.
I'm in doubt about the interval censoring.
Suppose that in a Clinical research one is using survival analysis to test wheter a experimental drug A is better than drug B in order to lead remission in patients. The remission is identified by clinical trials done in regular time intervals - let's say, one week. Suppose that a remission is identified in the sixth week. Is clear that the event occured in some time between fifth and sixth week, it's very unlikely that the conditions which lead to a remission classification occured in the exact moment that the clinical trial was happening.
And so on, that can be replicated to the whole sample. Regarding that every single event in a sample occured between two periods, and not exactly in one, can we say that survival analysis don't fit for that kind of research?
Or, in this very particular case is ok to assume that remission occured in time six?
Or did I misundertand the whole thing?
Regards from Brazil, and sorry if the text is not pretty good at some points.
Edit.: Let's understand remission in a general way as complete or partial.

I am currently working on a survival analysis of women with breast cancer. There are 2000 women in a dataset, 500 of which died from other cause than breast cancer (the rest were either alive or died from breast cancer). Should I remove those 500 observations, or include them into analysis? Thanks
