    I just purchased my 3rd pair of Zams. Comfy out of the box, great soles, quality one piece leather = no leaky seams or tongue. Can be resoled. Handmade beauties.

    Can definitely agree to your positive picture drawn about the Zamberlan Boots…..

    Just got a pair of zamberlans because of foot pain and with some custom insoles its now almost completely gone. If you have narrow heels they get too much space to move around and your bone structure starts shifting and causing discomfort. Zamberlan has both a good curve on the heel and a more narrow heel which solved 80% of my issue pretty much.
    If you have foot pain and a starting minor, painful protrusion on the back of your heel I highly, highly recommend them.

    I use Lowa, I’ve had all of the brands you have mentioned, all great boots, Meindel makes a robust boot as well

    I came for the Hanwag! put a decent insole in them, they need that to make them more comfortable and then...BOOM! You have the best boot out there!! Especially my favorite Tatra II :) Happy new year!!!

    I just bought a pair of Zamberlan 4014 LYNX MID GTX RR BOA. Most comforably snug boot I've ever worn.

    Have a pair of the Kenetrek Mountain Extreme 400 gram thinsulate. I have a narrow heel but put in a set of danner heel cups. Solved the problem. Don't know if they still make them.

    Which do you think are the best fit for true to size and wide feet. I've never owned a boot over 150 dollars like rocky gore-tex and they fell apart in a year. I'm ready to buy a quality boot. I'm short and burly with wide feet...lol... do you treat your leather on boots once a season with wax/oil for waterproofing... glad I found your channel. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

      I would say all of the boots are pretty true to size, I am flat footed and my foot isn’t super wide so not sure if I can answer that 100% correctly, i absolutely love the Zamberlan 980 Guides, probably my favorite boot I own, I don’t treat my boots every year, probably should but I haven’t had any issues with them leaking or anything either

      ALT-BERG make boots on a G-fit Last specifically made for people with wide feet, especially in the forefoot area. Look up the Kisdon. Their non G fit or A fit boots come in 5 sizes from very wide to very narrow.
      Other than that, Hanwag make a boot meant for wider feet, but it's a tight around the midfoot and heel last. It's called the Ancash II ( be aware that the Ancash I was built on a normal size last though ). The Ancash II is built around a Straight Fit Extra last, which has the characteristics I just mentioned- tight around the heel and midfoot, wide at the forefoot and the balls of your feet. The Straight Fit Extra last is 12mm wider than their normal last.
      I don't own any of them but I am undergoing a research phase in order to get the best boot for myself.
      Hope I could be of service.
      Have a good one!

    I had a hard time getting my Kennetrec broke in but after that I love them. I dont have an arch either but had to put in an arch support. Mine were the wildland fire boot so might be a totally different set up.

    • @backrhodesoutdoors9917
      @backrhodesoutdoors9917  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya it took awhile to break mine in as well, they are super comfortable now it’s just the heel issue that makes it hard to hike in them

      @@backrhodesoutdoors9917 When you lace up, skip the second bottom spots. Go to the third row of brackets and loop back down to the ones you skipped. Then go up to the fourth brackets up. Are you wearing a liner sock and then merino wool over them?

    • @backrhodesoutdoors9917
      @backrhodesoutdoors9917  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@20cameron1 I will have to try that lacing technique. I just wear normal socks but it is not a blister issue, but a pressure issue with my heel

      @@backrhodesoutdoors9917 👍 Do the double sock system as well-will take care of hotspots and keep your feet dryer. I use wigwam lite hiker socks for liner and Farm to Feet Boulder socks for merino wool.

    I live and hunt interior Alaska. I had a pair of Thors that had cloth ankle eyelets that tore out after a sheep hunt. Crispi authorized repair with new cloth ankle outlets and would not let their cobler replace with metal eyelets...those cloth eyelets tore out again after less than 100 miles in the Alaska Range. I will never buy Crispis again due to their poor customer support.
    Kenetrek, Scarpa, Lowa, Zamberlain, Asolo, LaSportiva, Schnees have better quality boots and much better customer support.

    • @backrhodesoutdoors9917
      @backrhodesoutdoors9917  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is sad to hear. I have honestly not had any issues with my Crispi boots, so I don’t know about their customer service. Hopefully they have improved this.

    Thanks for the review, I've been looking at getting the Kenetrek mountain guide. I really like having that ankle support, but I hope I don't have the same heel issue you have. Which boot would you say does not accommodate a wide foot?

    • @backrhodesoutdoors9917
      @backrhodesoutdoors9917  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest I couldn’t really say about the wide foot, but the Kenetrek definitely is pretty snug around my foot so you might want to go with a wide size if that’s the boots your wanting

      I am not sure I could answer that honestly, I don’t really have a super wide foot. I will say that the crispy summitty is definitely a tighter fit so that probably would not be an option

    I’m wearing Hanwags right now! I like my trapper tops for late elk hunts. I have had those trappers for since 2007, and they are just as strong today as in the begging. They do need to be worn in, does not take long though. I like a stiffer boot, just seems to hold up on alpine hunts a bit better.
