Kenetrek is my go to boot for Washington. Even in the summer it seems like we are always in swamps scouting and chasing bulls keeping my feet dry

Enjoyed the video. I run the insulated Mountain Extreme when the NW dictates, but for scouting and early season I like the Hardscrabble non insulated.

I like Kenetrek all the way. I wear hard Scrabble for warm weather and Mountain Extreme 400gram for October on.
Nothing has ever felt so good or protected my feet so well. I wish that I had bought them sooner. The MEs went on a 12 day backpack sheep hunt in Alaska with me. The outside was soggy wet the entire trip, but my feet stayed dry and comfortable.

I have Mtn Extremes in both Non-insulated and with 400gr of insulation
If its 15F or above i go with the NI adjusting my socks according to temp... anything below that i use the insulated boots.

Great video... Ive been running Kennetrek for about 4 years and wish Id done it sooner. Hardscrabble hikers early and Insulated Mountain Extremes late. Great, quality boots...no issues.

I got a pair of scarpa’s 3 years ago. Thought it was time to replace them until this year. Out of 4 people my feet were the only dry ones. I guess I’ll keep them around another year

I enjoy your reviews as always. I've been using a Meindl boot for the last 10+ years and these show almost no signs of wear. They fit me extremely well, and I absolutely love the support and virtual waterproof protection they give me. (Not 100% waterproof, but as near as you can get with a leather boot) I use an older pair of Danner Canadians with air bob soles as a backup and a pair of Schnee Hunter II pac boots for winter snow.
I am in the market for a new pair to complement and eventually replace my Meindl's and would buy another pair of what I currently have but they don't make that exact model anymore so I'm looking at either purchasing the Schnee Beartooth 0g or the Kenetrek Mountain Extreme non-insulated. Appreciate the review.

I find the kenetrek have very little ankle support. Try standing and rolling your ankles to the side and see how far you can go. I got these boots thinking they would be stiff and supportive. The sole is still, but when side hilling, they don't seem to have any more support than all leather danner canadians. How much ankle support do the crispis have? Is there a reason the the side flex on the kenetreks? Is this preferable in the steep stuff over a a boot that won't let you roll your ankles?

  • @steventurner83

I like the Colorado’s but get foot fatigue when I’m walking a two track or logging road. Side hilling or in steep terrain they are awesome.

I have the Kenetrek Mountain Guide Ultras and also 2 pairs of the Kuiu(Scarpa) R-Evolution 8HD’s which are very similar to the Colorado GTX‘s.
These two pairs of boots are by far the best that I ran so far and I’ve ran a fair amount of boots.
3 different versions of Danners, Merrell’s, Keens and Asolos and these are where I landed.
Curious to hear your feedback on the Colorado’s at the end of the season.
Any review comments on the Lapponia’s?

I’ve ran the lapponias for 3 seasons early archery elk, absolutely love them. Very light weight and super comfortable. I much prefer the lapponia over the idaho Gtx

If you have higher arches or want a stiffer mountain boot with good ankle support then get the Kenetrek Mountain Extremes.
Ive had the Crispi guides, and they were not near as supportive or stiff. They were also very very uncomfortable for my feet but that is very subjective. Cant speak on the Colorados though
The Kenetreks seemed to be of better quality compared to the Crispi Guides

Does anyone have any experience with the Irish Setter Elk Trekker 880 I picked up a set they seem to be fairly light and comfortable but they feel like they burn the bottoms of my feet on steep down hill sections.
