@@OldLadyAngler Hey OLA, did the C-tug wheels fit nicely on the sidekick... any axle slop?? What made you decide to go with a 10' Max vs a 12,.5' model? I'm just in the process of selling my 2021 Hobie Outback switching to the Native brand fro next fishing season...looking at the Max, but cant decide on the size before ordering....would love to hear your thoughts on the 10 vs 12.5, thanks a bunch
@@cheapfix The C Tug wheels work great. No slop... in fact, they are a little snug with the clips I use. They rub a bit. But .... not enough to stop me. They're 1000% better than the wheels that came on it. I went with the Slayer 10 specifically to save weight. I'm small. The 10 is about the most weight I care to haul around. Even with wheels. I think .... even if I was bigger and stronger.... I'd go with the 10. It doesn't require a trailer or any tail support if it's hanging out of the truck bed. PLUS.... there have been some improvements on the design of the 10. (a big one is the steering handle access - on the 12.5, you have to remove the seat to open that up). Not sure if they've upgraded that on the 12.5. Might be something for you to look into.

@@JMD535 Hobies are nice..... I just preferred the instant, hands-free reverse of the Native Slayer Max. I use it ALL the time. What a nice rigging T. I ordered my Slayer Propel MAX 10 seven (7) months ago back in April this year, and finally received the yak last week here in Toronto (with the only Native Watercraft dealer here in Ontario about 100 miles north of where I am:-). I feel it is well worth the loooooooooooong wait, and I am supper excited and pumped. Still doing some rigging to her. The only thing that disappointed me a bit is we are now into winter and getting really really cold, so looks like I might have to wait until next spring to enjoy her:-) PS: I could now get the Native sidekick wheel system at 10% discount through the same dealer, but I am a bit worried about the difficulty of adjusting wheel position while on water L-(
Congrats! I really love mine. You need the side kick. Don't adjust it while on the water. All you have to do is lean it sideways to install/remove the gear. (Before you get on the water) It's very easy now that I know how/when to do it. Gosh, I would go crazy if I had to wait until spring for that maiden voyage! At least you'll have plenty of time to rig.
I easily just take the gear off right at the edge of the water. No need to completely submerge the gear. It helped a lot when I put the solid wheels on it. No more floating tires to deal with
First off I will say getting the wheels off and then back on when you’re in the water is kind of a pain, I use some marine grease to help slide them in and out, makes a big difference. I am also going to get some different wheels that are not pneumatic and that will make a big difference as well as the original ones float adding to the difficulty of getting on and off. John did a great job on that Transducer bracket very clean. Total rigging job came out great T. You are gonna love this boat once you get everything dialed in. Native definitely made some improvements between when I got my Slayer Max 12.5 and when they introduced the 10. Now get out there, have fun and go get em.
UGH.... I knew the landing gear wouldn't be easy. I may have to find a way of doing it in shallow water and then getting in the yak. We'll see though. I might be underestimating myself. Thanks Don.
@@bucktalesoutdoors7566 I already have a C-Tug. That's what I used on my Slayer 10 and I've already thought about giving it a try on the Max. I'll definitely try greasing (some recommend paraffin wax too).
Thank you so much for the help with wiring. I have one more question do you know how and if I can get the dovetail block that your buddy made can't find his contact # anywhere
I put all 3 cable thru one. I had to trim it out and make the hole a bit bigger and then I put clear marine goop to fill the voids. No water. Works good.
What size rubber gaskets did you use for the three wires that come from the element unit through the yakattack wiring kit. I was thinking of getting that unit but worried about the the three cables not working. Info really appreciated
@@mitchelrhodes5074 I ran all 3 wires thru the same hole. I trimmed the biggest hole gasket big enought to fit all 3 wires. Then I left them like that to make sure the length was going to be good, once I figured out how much length I wanted, I put sealant around the gasket to seal off the small area where water could get through.
Hi Tracy, could you please direct me to that guy that makes the transducer mount for the Raymarine Element? I looked, but could not find it. Thank you. I’m installing the exact same fish finder on the exact same boat today. You’re helping me out, thanks a million!
What size battery are you getting? Just get a lithium iron phosphate battery from Amazon and you will save a lot of money. You will need a different charger because the top end voltages are different from lithium polymer or lead acid. What is the power consumption of that fish finder?
Right now I'm using a Nocqua 20 Ah and it works fine. I used it for 3 solid hours and it was 25% down. But as soon as Dakota Lithium are back in stock, the plan is to pick up a 23 Ah. I don't know the exact consumption but it's a RayMarine Element 7HV.
I'm not sure where the whistling came from but I love to do it. People in the house get annoyed though. hahaha. The tune was Norwegian Wood. I'm learning it on my guitar, so it's stuck in my head 24/7
Looks like a nice upgrade. You will get the hang of the landing gear. Sometimes I don’t have a boat ramp so I just lean it over one side at a time. Another TH-cam channel recommended using a little wax, so far I thinks it’s helping with it not sticking as much.
Yes.... I saw a video of the guy applying pararin wax. I thought about just leaning the boat to it's side (on shore before launching) and removing the wheels one at a time and leaving them in the truck. My paddle might fit a little better without the landing gear leg in the way. Thank you.
Looks great Tracy! I love that mount that John makes. Everything looks clean. I know you need to get her out on the water to see if it all works where it's at. About to watch that next on the big screen!
Nice setup! Depending on ur paddle stroke and ff location, u might be able to just squeeze the base of the YA mount and spin the screen parallel to the side to give u clearance fr paddling. If not, that’s where that extra arm will come in handy. Have fun with all the tweaks! Ps- the hobie thru mount kit has a snugger fit since u can access the back of the plate. I used the YA mount on the current rig cause I couldn’t access behind the mounting area. It works, I don’t stress over the little bit of moisture that may squeeze thru but that’s the one hobie accessory that i like better.
Thanks Kathy. I used the hobie thru mount on the other slayer kayak. It is definitely a stouter plug. With all 3 wires going thru it though.... I'd still have to modify the plug. I may just squeeze a bit of goop in there once I have it all dialed in. Clearance.... we shall see. That's always something I have to fine tune while on the water. I'm just looking forward to having a more advanced FF. Woo hoo!!
