The f104s taf has by far been the most fun I've had in WT in a long time. Enjoying it immensely, out of the 3 I picked up for the apex update, this one is the most fun for me.
F104 is my beloved jet after i unlocked my first one i just started having fun with jets, 11-20k repair cost was not big deal as my kd just went into sky, i wanted TAF but its sl multiplier is a joke so ill stay with my german tech tree one

I honestly feel sorry for the people who spent 70 dollars for what was a fun and unique, if not excessively powerful, aircraft only to have it nerfed into the ground within a month. I was 'lucky' in that I only spent enough to put a talisman on the stock F104S during the winter sale... Regardless, it's a good lesson on what happens when you trust Gaijin and give them money.
Didn't it simply get nerded in br when top tier got decompressed? Bear in mind that when this video got recorded the top dogs were sitting at 11.7 and this was at 10.7 Now it's 12.0 to 11.0 so the uptiers are literally the same
@@zanzao-1ps318 In theory, yes. In practice, no. Previously, and today, 10.7 is rarely uptiered. In fact, it practically never sees 11.7 and only very rarely 11.3. Most of the time they're actually sucked downwards into the BR 10.0/10.3 A10/SU25/F5C spam. That's what makes 10.7 the best BR... Meanwhile 11.0 and above get sucked up into the 12.0 BR black hole every single match. You'll be fighting against Mig29s, F14Bs, and F16s literally every single match... So no that 0.3 difference between 10.7 and 11.0 makes all the difference in the world.
@@brettwebb6789 I hadn't played at the former 10.7 so I don't know how it was like, essentially what you're telling me is that, despite the distance to the very top tier being still 1.0 for the F-104S TAF, the Su25/A10/F5C/A5C(etch) being soooo much spammed and being evercrowded with players as a br bracket that the F-104 would still get sucked into it despite being elegible for 11.7, while now it doesn't see the 10.0-10.3 spam as often cause it is farther away from it than it used to be. Sad
This plane is now unusable at 11.0. You will only be missile bait for planes that are now just ever so slightly slower than you, much more maneuverable and have weapons that can track you through flares and any rolls you can hope to use. You won't have fun, you won't get downtiered. You will be free SL for Mig 23/Mig 29/F-16 and F-14s and gaijin will laugh at you.
I wouldn't say the maneuverability is "extremely bad", as it's more nuanced than that. It maneuvers extremely badly at lower speeds due to tiny wings and high wing loading, and will start pulling a lot of AOA and bleeding speed below ~1000kmh. However, past 1.0M it maneuvers better than most planes at the br. Sure, it's not good at getting down low into a knife fight with a F-5, but if you know what you're doing you can energy fight people surprisingly well.
I have a video, but it was when the Thunderchief had an airspawn. I think it's still pretty worth it, but you're much more likely to die before you get back to base than you used to be.

I don’t know what mass/weight is not allowed so I can’t figure it out without buying it myself. I want to know how many bombs I can carry in total with a priority of bombs over missiles like if I wanted to use it for base bombing.
You can bring either 3 1000lb, 4 750lb and 2 Aim-9P or 1 2000lb, 2 1000lb, 2 750lb and 4 Aim-9P, the difference is minimal. In both cases you can only destroy one base so I recommend the second layout, especially in operation batlles (the one with huge maps).

This aircraft has been heavily nerfed in BR, going up to 11.0, and is no longer worth considering even if you want to spend 70 dollars...
At this point I'd call it a scam, for those who bought if before the nerf.

I wouldn't say the maneuverability is "extremely bad", as it's more nuanced than that. It maneuvers extremely badly at lower speeds due to tiny wings and high wing loading, and will start pulling a lot of AOA and bleeding speed below ~1000kmh. However, past 1.0M it maneuvers better than most planes at the br. Sure, it's not good at getting down low into a knife fight with a F-5, but if you know what you're doing you can energy fight people surprisingly well.

The premiums 104staf is a Turkish variant but since there is no Turkish tech tree they put it on the Italian tech tree

F104S TAF is a bad buy, F104S does just as good of a job. F104S ASA is a lot of fun if you know how to play a Starfighter.
