      Im an architect shifting from lumion to unreal. It would be great if you could make a tutorial on how to effectively import datasmith assests into unreal through dataprep, also making sure to keep my lightmaps to reasonable sizes. You have to keep into consideration that the projects might have 1000s of individual meshes and not just a simple interior scene so reimporting them without resetting all the modifications already done is also an important part of my workflow. Hope i could explain myself

    The idea to have two post processing volumes is simply brilliant. And, yes, I definety want to see a rendering farm turorial from you!
    As far as exterior lighting is concerned, I have a hard time getting the lighting from outside and inside to simultaneously look good. Usually the problem I have is that everything looks good from inside the house, but as soon as you step out onto the balcony or garden everything looks blown out and overexposed.

    • @karldorfnercreative
      @karldorfnercreative 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm just working through that same thing at the moment! Interior looking nice but outside to over exposed with no contrast. I'm guessing you would work on the exterior first to get that right, then maybe post process exposure compensations auto-slide for inside or just use some interior lighting as you would in real life. But it would be good to see a tutorial on some of those methods

    • @karldorfnercreative
      @karldorfnercreative 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or add more post process volumes.. like one for outside and one for interior with exposure compensation bumped up maybe..

    woow by far the best archviz tutorial on TH-cam
    Straight to the point and yet so detailed, exactly how tutorials are supposed to be. Keep it up Mate!
    P.S I had a question concerning the baking (Light Build) of a scene. It took me almost 4 hours to bake a scene which to me is a humongous amount of time.
    Is there any way you can pause the light building process so you can resume later (To avoid baking in one-go as the engine crashes at times) or is there any other way to come close to a production level static lighting build without such huge build time)
    Thank you for the fabulous work. Keep going!

    • @ThatRyanManning
      @ThatRyanManning  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      With lightmass it's purely a CPU dependent process. Other than setting up a Swarm Farm for more CPU power, you just have to wait. I always bake a preview mode until the very end. I published a video on setting up a Swarm Farm if you have some extra PCs laying around.

    Your generosity encourage me to post my requests, in case you are ready to get involved with..:)
    1- Using Dynamic Lighting in both Exterior & Interior Archviz scenes... to get rid of the process of baking lighting, but with a decent render quality..!! of course; without using The new RTX feature shipped with UE4.22
    2- Mobile Archviz for Andriod, with interactive widgets.. to control replacing Assets & changing assets materials and colors, changing camera position, etc..
    Forgive me for my huge requests and poor English language.. :)

    Great video. I’m quite new to unreal and currently using 4.27 as my system can’t handle version 5. I use Blender for modeling and would like to use unreal for rendering. As we are all learning and getting better each day, is there any advice/update you would like to add to this video, seeing as you did this 3yrs ago? I still get a bit confused about whether to use static, stationary or moveable for such external archviz scenes. I would also prefer to use hdris that are also viewed in the scene. Subscribed, by the way.

      16GB should run everything just fine. Sounds like there's something else going on with your PC outside of UE4. Hard to say though without more info.

    I'm wondering, have you made any changes to the geo? Especially the building could use some separation of the pieces and lightmap UVs need serious tweaking.

    • @ThatRyanManning
      @ThatRyanManning  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Outside tweaking some lightmap resolution settings, no. This is from the Epic ZenGarden project so most of the assets were left relatively as-is for the video.

    I ran into an issue where my sphere for my sky seems to be blocking my lights for the scene. I'll build the lighting and all my geo turns black, also I can't see the sky material unless I check two sided. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I can see when your sphere is selected, in the details panel under static mesh your sphere is white (19:53)- maybe that has something to do with it? Thanks!

    • @ThatRyanManning
      @ThatRyanManning  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check that your sky sphere isn't set to cast shadows. That setting will be in the details panel when you select the sky sphere

    finally a good video about archviz! what about the ambient occlussion bake on the lightmass settings? i tried to bake it but i don't see much difference. I usually go with SSAO, but for video isn't a good option as you can see it appearing and dissapearing on the edges of the screen.

    • @ThatRyanManning
      @ThatRyanManning  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      One approach would be to simply control the AO through a Post Processing Volume. i.imgur.com/pKhmjpV.png Simply enable the Ambient Occlusion Intensity and Radius. I'd recommend starting at Intensity = 0.5, and Radius = 25

    • @ThatRyanManning
      @ThatRyanManning  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also check your World Settings and adjust the Ambient Occlusion Settings here as well: i.imgur.com/0ekAZQV.png

    • @asr59
      @asr59 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThatRyanManning so the first message you are talking about SSAO, the second one you talk about baking the AO. Is the secon method recommended and enough for archviz? SSAO fade out near the borders of the screen

    • @ThatRyanManning
      @ThatRyanManning  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@asr59 In my experience, baking the AO should be sufficient for archivz, especially when you use HQ Normals and the techniques I included in this vid. If you find the lighting is still a bit pixelated, just bump up your lightmap resolution(s). You can always push a little SSAO into your scene and just lower the intensity so it's not as dramatic :)

    Hiiii Ryan... M having a prob after loading the datasmith file in unreal.... after loading it is very black in color... I mean the whole screen... So I changed the directional light intensity at 150lux.... Which is too much... So wats the prob.... Waiting for ur reply.

    • @ThatRyanManning
      @ThatRyanManning  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hard to tell. You may want to check your Lightmass UVs to ensure they're getting proper lighting. You may also want to kill any built lighting to make sure it's not a bake error.
