Started boarding Baker in ‘85 and have had some incredible days and memories up there, from some of the best powder days to hiking out on the Arm. After what I’ve seen personally happen to Stevens Pass after being purchased by Vail, Mt Bakers success is due to the Howat Family and their ability to keep the resort fun. Mt Baker was one of the early mountains that allowed snowboarding and I’ve heard that 70% of their season passes sold are to boarders. When we started riding Baker the conditions didn’t matter we went every Friday, Saturday and Sunday regardless, back when Baker was only open on the weekends and $17 lift tickets. I haven’t been to Baker in years mostly due to the length of the drive and how fast the powder gets tracked up, but that place will forever be in my memories
How does this not have 10 million views? Great production skills and the characters are outstanding! I skied Baker back in the early 90’s and I’ll be there with my son in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait!
The great thing about Baker is it's on a dead end road, not a destination resort, few accommodations nearby, & it's mostly PNW locals who carefully watch the weather. The downside is that epic multi meter snowfall can convert to cementimeters quickly with the sine wave temperatures - I strongly urge all visitors to consider alternatives & leave Baker to the locals. The Legendary Banked Slalom is also a marketing myth - avoid.
