Lyrics
[Intro]
Twenty foot high on Blackpool promenade
Fake royalty second hand sequin façade
Limited face paint and dyed black quiff
Overweight and out of date
Twenty foot high on Blackpool promenade
Fake royalty second hand sequin façade
Limited face paint and dyed black quiff
Overweight and out of date
[Verse 1]
American trilogy in Lancashire pottery
American trilogy in Lancashire pottery
[Chorus]
Is so fucking funny, don't you know
Is so fucking funny, don't you know
[Verse 2]
All American trilogy in used up cars and bottled beer
All American trilogy the futures dead, fundamentally
[Chorus]
It's so fucking funny, it's absurd
It's so fucking funny, it's absurd
Twenty foot high on Blackpool promenade
[Outro]
I wish I was in Dixie
Hooray! Hooray!
In Dixie land, I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
I dont think I've ever heard a better voice. Manics are just simply amazing. Absolutely love you guys.
Same! 🥰
He really has quite an explosive voxal range. Amazing!!! X💣🎸🎸🎸👍👍🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🤣
Best. Band. Ever.
Beautiful voice, beautiful song, beautiful James!
曲がいいのはもちろんだけど、切実さというか喪失感というか、何とも言えない気持ちを呼び起こさせてくれる。十代の時に言葉にできなかったけど確かに感じていた感覚。
I like this group and their songs very much !
Hell of a track to kick off the album...it sticks in your brain and reels you in...
Stunning...as always
What a performance man 💪🙌
Richey Edwards can never be replaced
I totally agree. Tne real deal by mistake. XX🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🤝🤝🤝🤝
Always a good one!! XX🙏🙏🙏🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
You couldn't replace him at a Manics show..... Except with a non musician standing next to James pretending to play guitar.

Ah the old Boss Acoustic Simulator deployed in the wild
Oh well...
Ha ha! It's a start!🤣😂🤣🎸🎸🔊🔊🔊😅
One thing I always wondered about this song when they play live. The intro obviously sounds like an acoustic guitar but James plays it on his Gibson. Is someone playing the acoustic in background or Is he just making the tone really authentic? This is probably the only mystery that I couldn't find the answer all after I watch the actual show with my own two eyes
Ezra Blake Is a pedal guitar effect..It's James playing
They use a load of backing tracks, most bands do. Listen to design for life live, they have an orchestra behind them and it is not the keyboard player.
roimlil it ain’t a backing track though. Electric guitars can easily make an acoustic sound by using different effects. A design for life when played live at the millennium stadium just uses keyboards which is played live. Obviously now the Manics have an extra backup guitarist for the acoustics and rhythm
I know that, in a band that uses backing tracks, all bands use backing tracks, no offence meant
It's not a backing track, it's an extra pickup he had fitted at the time.. " After the release of This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours, his Gibson Les Paul Custom was fitted with a micro acoustic piezo pickup. The reason was the necessity of playing live their #1 single "If You Tolerate This, Your Children Will Be Next". Bradfield needed an acoustic guitar sound for the majority of the song, and turn electric for the guitar solo at the end. But since Bradfield wasn't keen on acoustic simulator fx pedals (such as the Boss AC-3 and didn't want to use two guitars, the micro acoustic piezo pickup was his solution." source - www.pmtonline.co.uk/blog/2009/03/30/the-manic-street-preachers-gear-guide/
