The quasi-programmatic Sonata No. 26 in E flat major, Op. 81a was dedicated to Beethoven's patron and pupil Archduke Rudolph. Composed in 1810, the sonata tells - in three movements entitled "The Farewell", "The Absence" and "The Return" - the story of the Archduke's exile from and return to Vienna, during Napoleon's siege.
The Grammy award-winning pianist Daniel Barenboim has been active on the concert stage since the age of seven when he made his stage debut in his hometown of Buenos Aires. Well known for his work with the East-Western Divan Orchestra, a group of young Arab and Israeli musicians, he is currently the director of the Berlin State Opera, La Scala (Milan) and the Staatskapelle Berlin. Barenboim is described as "one of the few musicians in the world today who could accurately be describe as legendary".

The very best, what a nature talent - both Barenboim and Beethoven.
Daniel Barenboim is a pianist and conductor who is a citizen of Argentina, Israel, Palestine, and Spain. For all these years, I've only heard his work as an orchestral conductor. I'm enriched.
Yes, he is Argentinian
I think this is the best performance of No.26
No way

Thank you this is a hard to understand and he did it wonderfully!🎉🎉🎉❤
Barenboim, the best in Sonata´s Beethoven
He put on disc all beethoven s sonatas when young. At the time they thought it very great but to be realistic said he would probably mature and improve those interpretations. But I am not sure that is either easy or possible. The early work still stands.
I think he's recorded the sonatas three times, at 25, 44 and at 76 ( correct me if I am wrong) .Consistently a prime interpreter of these works, he knows them without the score.
Слушаю с удовольствием...прямо наслаждаюсь гениальным исполнением...Бетховен и Баренбойм--близнецы-братья😊...По духу!!!
The brilliant performance!
Didicated to Barenboim
This sonata is NOT dedicated to Haydn. It is dedicated to Beethoves good friend the Archduke Rudolph. In fact all three movements represent the Archdukes departure and his triumphant return. Whomever uploaded this video needs to do much research before uploading another. Beethoven dedicated the Opus. 2 Piano Sonatas to Haydn.
As for Barenboim he has Nothing on Sir Andras Schiff.
