Of course, France lost two wars in the years after WW2 in Indochina and Algeria respectively so that didn't help their military reputation.
FYI, while the Germans were figuring out how to put a 88mm AA gun onto a tank (eg Tiger 1), the Italians were figuring out how to put spaghetti into a can.
