I'm from louisville, and that spot by the river is by the skatepark. i've walked down and stood on top of the jump many times. Even as a skater for 30 years seeing everything, I couldn't comprehend how it was even possible or how anyone could even think it was possible.
I've skated around Waterfront park a lot back in the day and the spot he ollied is insanely huge. It looks big in the video but not near as big as it really is in person
I am too. I used to rent bikes at the big four bridge right there with my little brother and we both rode down those stairs on those 4 wheel bikes and it felt like it went on forever.
I'm 35 and a 5 stair hurts my knees nowadays, each gap he does leaves me both amused and terrified. I feel like my body is going to be sore tomorrow after watching the things he does. It's just otherworldly insane.
@@T3n50r Many people are not prepared for jumping in general. Skateboarding sideways jumping is "anatomically" incorrect and causes a lot of stress to our joints and spine. Proper diet and exercises are a must if you want to enjoy skateboarding in your 60s. Plus: always listen to your body. Don't push it beyond your personal limits unless you want to be an invalid.
Jaws, to me, is the goat. He does immensely unbelievable shit, boggles the middle, and is the most wholesome, loving individual. I love watching him land something I couldn’t conceive and his first move is to hug a homie. A wonderful human being.
I agree. Joslin and Jaws will always be the goats and with the way skateboarding is going with SLS and technical bs over gnarliness I think they are the last of their kind
He's the goat of Street Drops. Bob Burnquist though is the Ramp and sheer "Who thought this was a good idea?" Goat with all those crazy ramps he builds.
The impact when hes moving slower is insane. You can see the pain in his face in some. I think the secret to his longevity is landing as wide stance as possible to soften the impact to his knees. I know he just had both knees replaced and hes back to killing it! Such an awesome dude and inspiration. #Madfrail
Pageau skated for lib tech if u guys remember he was sick back in the day but yeah he went ghost after that gnarly dinger/scorpion/headbust lib tech were puttin crazy stuff into they're boards back then go make them lighter kinda how it is now but it was refined at all like it is today... I grew up skating in the 2000s and it's just insane how far things have come in our beloved sport...
@normanl.6891 dude world sponsored so many good dudes before they fell off... Lol I miss skating so much like I still skate but I had my boys with me back then and we were tight like shoelace dude... I frickin miss skating with everyone so much
Love these videos! I was a very lousy skateboarder back in the 1980s and discovered the whole video parts street skating videos, your videos really explain how insane all this is. I knew it was insane but to hear skaters say how insane it is makes it even better.
the fact that they r worried about being demonetized is ridiculous. sometimes people land things and its awesome and beautiful but sometimes ppl get broken off too.. its the reality of it
How can a slam like that not be what ppl remember. It was gnarly.. same with the dude who fell off that roof.. he is so good but he'll forever be remembered as the skater in lucky to be alive.
I’d be really impressed if he’s still doing gaps and drops that big at 40 also! I just turned 52, and there hasn’t been a single day in the past 3 years that my knees haven’t hurt. I grew up doing huge drops in the late 70s and early 80s, and then moved on to gaps as skating progressed and the Ollie became the foundation of street skating. On a side note; I also remember when Rodney came up with the kickflip, and he was almost excommunicated from the skate scene, because “ that weird shit ain’t skatin dude!”
I grew up around Aaron libed in Phoenix az he would always come to the slate park and everyone would go crazy when he showed up, wasnt even sponsored or anything like that yet. Just brung that cool presence
I was practically ****** myself standing at the top of the Wallenberg gap in SF.. I couldn’t even imagine with these would look like in person.. LEGEND! 🐐
7:25 This place, the Lyon 25, I saw a video of a bunch of kids trying to jump it on a scooter and it was hilarious, just getting absolutely wrecked, but I guess props for trying because that shit is insane
Guys check out Jaws video parts - happy medium 2 ; 3 and Berrics - dude is on the another level! Important thing - dude has good personality! Great example for young people!
I've studied his legs when he lands. They make a triangle and his knees are almost touching. I'm convinced this is how he's able to take such monster impacts. Being thin and light is another component.
I found out about him because of King Of The Road a while back. There was a jump that landed him in the hospital is all i will say. It's beyond gnarly. But Jaws is still skating hard as hell, dudes a legend.
4:48 so that’s in Louisville, Kentucky and the stairs alone are a 20 set … and the ledge things are another maybe 5 stairs higher ??? Give or take ?? I live close to there and it’s so massive
The way u guys laughed at his nollie flip thats how i laugh at andy andersons tricks (some) i mean his pretty good but like cringey at the same time like bro u didnt land it dont play it off 😂🤷🏻♂️
Dude I haven’t laughed so hard in so long brothers thank you , when dude said “he jumped off the bridge” my built up laughter exploded I love 🛹🤙🏽 always will and willl always skate
I’m not a skater skater, but I love watching and I appreciate the art form and I’m amazed by what people are able to do on a board. My biggest question is how does the board not break? How does it handle these huge drops? Is it just a balance of equilibrium between the trucks/wheels and the weight of the human body? I’d really love to know the science behind it!
boards break all the time, on these big drops, sometimes even the truck will bend or break but if you land with your feet over the bolts, thats your best chance not to...
The first time I saw Jaws was him skating with Dan Corrigan, and I thought well... He's an average skater, never seeing these insane gaps that he did. Jaws is a fucking legend. You know those mythical creatures from Greek literature? They were real... and Jaws is a descendant.
Jaws is insane! he just knows how to handle impact like no other!!! I mean that 20 stair PLUS the ledge that's another 3-4 ft, high, that is at LEAST 14ft ft long.... AND the 25 set(def bigger)... like WHAAAAAAT that's not human!!!!!! But the coolest thing is when he does land the 25 set, theres like a poof of smoke when the wheels hit the ground. it is funny tho it looks like hes jumping off the bridge lol
Poh, surpresa boa esse globe Sabre, ainda não conhecia a silhueta e nem sabia que a marca ainda tava fazendo tênis. Tive um globe finale Na época e curtia demais esse tênis.
Didnt even show the one HUGE gap where his wheel blew off mid air and he was literally as high up as a bird flying. I think it has the leap of faith beat for most gnarly thing ever.
I always thought this dude was like 6 foot+ because he’s so lanky and can bend that much. He’s 5’7”. Wtf that just makes these gaps even more impressive
Those stairs by the waterfront is here in Louisville at the great lawn. You have no idea how big that is until you are standing there in person. The video doesn't even do it justice. When I saw that on the thumbnail, I clicked on it thinking it was just click bait because "there's no fucking way someone jumped down that staircase." I ride BMX and wouldn't even dare doing that on my bike. How is that even possible!?
When you get older you look at gnarly stuff and fear starts to kick in because you know you're not going to be back in two weeks skating if you slam hard so you have to ask yourself (in the immortal words of Dade Murphy), "Is the juice still worth the squeeze?" For most people with real day jobs, its not.
“Hey jaws wanna go skate?” “Yeah dude lemme grab my ladder!” 😂😂

Gotta give Aurlien some respect for the grabless the Lyon 25 attempt

"Mad frail"? What a queef.

@7:12 That's the Lyon, France 25 set. The man-eater.
