Thanks very good explanation. I'm also a childminder using my home. Watching your video now makes things clearer than reading the OFSTED statutory framework.
Thank you so glad I could help. I know the feeling, I found the statutory framework so confusing when I started. I was constantly calling Ofsted to clarify things and even then I would sometimes get conflicting advice. Though, hopefully things are more clear for you now. Are you planning to convert to a CODP?
@@HowtoopenanurseryUK you know I don't even know there is CODP. Your video made me to understand it.I think I will. I just had an OFSTED inspection last October and the result I got was not that good due to high risk and some OFSTED statutory frame I don't understand. But I just realise watching videos like this will help. I saw your course I checked it also. It will be good if you do more videos on OFTED inspections what to expect. Keep up the good work
Yeah CODP is not very well heard of, so most don't even consider it but it can be a lot more beneficial for some people especially because of the increased ratios. And thanks, I will look into doing more about Ofsted inspections. What are your plans for going forward?
@@HowtoopenanurseryUK hopefully I will add more knowledge to the one I have by going for more courses and training then watch more videos like this. Thanks
Hiya, Thank you very much for this video. Very useful and informative. I am currently working as an adhoc nanny alongside being a Nursery practitioner. With your videos this will help me to think bigger!
Hey, this is very helpful. I havent heard about the domestic premises class. Do you have to change the purpose of use if you register as a domestic premises daycare?

Great video, thank you. One question if I may. You go into a lot of detail re assistant childminders, and while they cannot be left alone for more than 2 hours, if they are fully qualified then they CAN be left alone for the day. But does this then make them 'co-childminders'. And if so, can you pay them the same way (as you would an assistant) as self-employed workers. Or must a co-childminder be a business partner and therefore be in equal control, even if working in your setting? Hope this makes sense and hope you have time, thank you.
If it's your childminder setting then you decide what you wish to do..you can have the childminder as your employee and pay them whatever you wish (providing it's above minimum wage)
@@HowtoopenanurseryUK Again, thank you! To be clear though, I do not want to go down the employee/employer PAYE route. (Nor the 'Assistant' route) This would be a self-employed worker. Can the fully qualified co-minder be your worker and simply be paid a (decent) wage.
Agencies do or some do inspect childminders and give them a grade as Ofsted does. Also, not all agencies take your profits! I'm agency registered and I'm not owned by my agency, I pay them a monthly subscription fee, they don't dictate to me at all - I am completely independent as any Ofsted childminder is and they do not take any of my profits :-)
Thanks for the clarification. I did try to speak to some people who work for an agency. But now I've learnt that everyone has very different set ups. Thanks.
@@HowtoopenanurseryUK they do and all agencies are different. The agency I'm with are great. I have heard some agencies do all of what you said in your video. Either way, great video and very informative - thank you :-)

No you don't as long as the primary use of your premises is still your home. Though, you may need to let your local council know
