I've seen him live twice and had tickets for a 3th show but then covid made him cancel the tour. I can tell you he's part of a group musicians that are great on a studio album but even better live on stage. Keep it high on the bucket list and when you have the chance to see him grab it both hands!
I felt honored to attend a Pokey LaFarge concert in Kansas City when his band was dismissed due to COVID19. It was him, his guitars, and those iconic vocals!
I met a young Pokey probably 15+ years ago before he broke though, while we were both passing through somewhere. He was passionate about music and talked my ear off about R. Crumb. It's been fun to see his music pop up here and there over the years - all good stuff. Happy to see him this morning, still at it, with a cheerful song. Though, to be fair, it's Spring in Chicago and he probably should have released this in January for the full effect :-)
