Severe Thunderstorm, Damaging Winds & Hail in Hoxie Kansas, June 4, 2022

  • The HP supercell I had been chasing earlier in the day (shown in my previous video) evolved into a large HP storm complex as it continued to move south. I had initially planned on driving south and then escaping the core to the west. However, another storm developed and merged into the complex from the west. With the storms gaining on me, I decided to hunker down instead as I could not outrun the complex through the night. I documented the core of the storm in Hoxie Kansas as it blasted through the town with 60 mph wind gusts and hail. Lucky for my car, the hail never got larger than quarter sized.

    See, this is why your channel is the best. Everyone else either doesn't film it in a good position, only films it coming in or only films it rolling out. I really love the in-storm footage!

      Hey thanks! I really appreciate that and I'm glad you enjoy my content! I'm hoping to continue to grow my channel!

      I do actually have another channel (not the one I'm commenting on) where I have a lot of in the storm footage but I won't self promote it since I know how much people hate self promotion. This video however, is one of the better roles I've seen. Severe weather, as long as it's not too dangerous, is always amazing to me.

      @@arandominternetuser9099 I don't think there is anything wrong with promoting your own stuff. If you wanted to share a link here I have no issue with that.

      @@storm12weather I just know people in comment sections of a lot of videos I watch hate self promoting, so I've just grown to not like doing it unless it's a part of the current discussion or it's encouraged to share your own stuff. If you did want to check it out, the channel is New York State Storm Chasers. I have a few favorite videos in mind if you wanted to know which are the best to watch (some videos blow up when I don't even think they're among the better videos I upload 😂).

      Yes, this was quite an experience! This complex of storms actually evolved from the supercell I had chased earlier in the day. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    Gas stations at night time are a hotspot for recording severe thunderstorms

    My left ear really appreciated the storm's intensity

      Ha!, I actually know what you're referring to because I watched this video with headphones recently. I'm not sure why the sound intensity is greater on the left speaker. This is the first video I've taken where I had that problem.

    Is it a supercell thunderstorm beacause the winds are as strong as a tornado but not all supercells produce tornado It was HP supercell beacause it was wet.I even here a little hail and then heavier hail.

      @@storm12weather I have a feeling it's the lake breeze, at least where I live in Western NY. There have been 2 enhanced risks of severe weather so far and none have really been that severe. They haven't been bad, at least one of the days, but regardless, it definitely has been quiet with most storms being severe to our north, south, and east, besides some storms which were amazing, one being the light show just after midnight on the 16 which was srill off to the east but was amazing for lightning footage and time-lapses.

    how heavy was this rain did this rain cause flooding and ponding and this would drop a inch in 20 mins

    • @storm12weather
      @storm12weather  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of ponding on the sides of some roads but I didn't see any major flooding. But yes, 3 inch/hour rainfall rates are certainly possible in severe storms like this. It lasted 30 to 40 minutes.
