This artist's career started on American Idol but now...

This artist went from reaching the top 20 on American Idol, to now being one of the most talented and popular R&B artists of his time. Despite auditioning for American Idol as early as 2005, his career as a solo musician didn't really kick off until 2019, where he released his first debut album, ‘Painted’, which stands as one of my favourite albums from that year.
