    Thank you Baby Jesus. Needed to confirm the connection method to the Filter, and you showed it perfectly. *IMPORTANT* Do NOT let the Primer DRY. Apply glue, while the primer is still wet. :)

    🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
    00:00 *🚧 Filter Assembly and Preparation*
    - Assemble the filter starting with the pressure gauge and ensuring the drain cap is secure.
    - Fill the tank with water, install the pipe and lateral assembly, and pour sand while protecting the laterals.
    - Ensure the central pipe is centered, lubricate the valve O-ring, and connect the multi-port control valve.
    02:27 *🏗️ Connecting the Filter Components*
    - Rotate the laterals, add the sand shield, pour sand carefully, and level it without lifting the pipe.
    - Secure the valve with a clamp, connect the pump port, and create connections between the filter and pump ports.
    - Connect the return port, waste port, and tighten the multi-port valve flange clamp.
    06:00 *🌊 Operating the Sand Filter*
    - Start the filter initially in the filter setting, backwash after a couple of hours, and rinse the pump.
    - Monitor the pressure gauge reading for the clean sand filter pressure.
    - Follow the proper steps for backwashing the filter and maintaining its operation.

    Critical Mistake: “Let primer dry”. The primer has to be wet for the PVC glue to be effective. You’re welcome. Aloha!

    • @kailuafrog
      @kailuafrog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely right, primer doesn't only clean, it softens the PVC to assure a proper fit. Also using the proper glue is recommended (Christy's Red Hot Pool Pro) Aloha back to you braddah!

    I thought that using elbows instead of bending a flex hose would create more water resistance and pressure. Was it just me because I would prefer pipe, elbows and unions..

  • @charlieparker5678
    @charlieparker5678 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So the filter just sits on the ground? You don't have to anchor it down or anything?

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd want to check with your local building codes to see if it is required. Many municipalities require that the equipment be bolted down in order to pass the final inspection on new builds. Most people prefer to bolt them down so they are not easily stolen, damaged in a strong wind storm, and to keep them from rattling.

    I'm having trouble mounting the filter head to the sand barrel. the big clamp (with the two screw's) doesn't want to grab both the head and barrel . it seems like the channel on the clamp is too narrow.

  • @Mike-01234

    I always fill the filter with water half way before putting the sand it that way sand flows better and doesn't runt he risk of breaking anything. I also put 50 lbs of Pea gravel in the bottom first that helps with flow.

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      kell490 both very good ideas when filling your tank. The water does a great job of diffusing the force of sand to prevent broken laterals.

      Inyo Pools I sure like sand filters I never understood why anyone would want a cartridge filter that has to be cleaned where I can turn a lever and water my plants for 5 minutes once every couple of months. I remember growing up my dad went with a DE filter we always had to refill it when we backwashed.

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +kell490 Sand is so much easier over the lifetime of a pool; change the sand every 3-5 years, backwash whenever needed and you're done. Cartridge filters do have a better filtering capability15-20 microns to a sand filter's 40 microns. But most swimmers cannot tell the difference in water quality

      Inyo Pools Sand filter is so nice my neighbors trees blow bunch of junk in 1 day I filter then I backwash the junk on to my lawn just before I run the lawn mower suck it up into that. My buddy has a cartridge filter combing hair and junk out of that what a chore plus the housing may leak after you it back together. I don't know why anyone would want something different I think those other filters are just something someone came up with to make money off of. Since I put in my new larger sand filter my pool is super clean drop little clarifier in. Glad you are not one of those guys that try to push cartridge filters. I had 1 pool contractor tell me how they cleaned %50 better.

    I have a old 1 speed 3 hp 1996 challenger and the motor need replacement . Is it wise to buy a 2 speed motor to replace the one speed motor for energy saving when I just want to circulate my chemicals in the water???? BTW. I have an 8 jet spa and when valved off the spa has one separate jet that acts as a pool a overflow water fall while the pool is in valved for circulation and skimming. I also have a return separately valved for my polaris pressure side cleaner that i run as needed . In this 15000 gallon pool with a 10 person spa.

    • @stacyspooner3572
      @stacyspooner3572 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd highly recommend that you downsize to a 1hp variable speed motor/pump setup. 3hp is wasting money in electricity for that small of a pool. The challenger pump is also a dated design.

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      asr 01 This filter uses sand to sift your water, but you can use a salt chlorinate generator to chlorinate your water.

    in Step 18...why do you not install a union there too?

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sara Davis Waste ports normally do not require unions. In a standard installation, the blue vinyl waste hose would be fitted directly to the multiport valve. To be honest, the line set-up in the video with a hard pipe extension on the waste line is a not overly common.

    So when attaching the pipes to your valve on top of the filter no thread dope
    Or teflon tape is needed to prevent leaks? I have to replace my valve ( over tightened and cracked) and someone told me put blue block on the threads.

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suggest using a couple turns of teflon tape to keep threads securely in place.

    Can you use a sand filter for a pond or will bacterial growth plug it up?

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We're not pond professionals, but it is my understanding that a sand filter can be used. However, it is not the ideal choice. The problem is that a pool sand filter traps very small elements in order to keep a pool crystal clear. A pond is a lot more messy and the sand filter will fill up quick. This means it may need to be backwashed daily.

      @@Inyopools Do you sell a product that will bypass excess pressure around the filter?
      E.g. 2" pipe with an adjustment spring that collapses as pressure builds, eventually bypassing pressure over the threshold?

    Have you ever heard of people putting pebbles the size of pees for the first 6 inches then coarse sand about 4.75mm for the next 6 inches then medium sand 2.0 mm for the last 6 inches in your pool filter? Does this have any benefits?

    where is best place to buy sand filter and pump for a pool like this....we have a 22,000 gallon pool - inground
    what is best size sand filter for a pool this size?

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brad Ellender A pool that size should likely have a sand filter of 24" or wider. Remember it is best to oversize a filter to minimize need for cleaning and maintenance.
      We can ship you a sand filter of your choice. Review this link for our selection of sand filters: www.inyopools.com/search_sand_filters.aspx

    how much pressure does this sand filter requires for allowing the water to flow through it?

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Diwakar Dey manufacturers do not list a minimum flow rate but the further you dip under a filter's design flow rate the better the filtration.

    • @Inyopools
      @Inyopools  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The unions can be basic 1.5 or 2-inch unions that you find at a plumbing store, or the filter may well come with a set.
