It's a beautiful rig, almost as nice as the FT2000 which to my mind is a stunning looking rig. Those dancing meters would drive me mad though, flicking between RX/TX endlessly with full break-in. That alone would annoy me enough to stay on semi-bk-in.
2 questions I don't see the alc meter because you have the mic button in 2 o'clock, the menu4-4 in 1 position the5-8 in 6 or 2.4?the comp button is in right position 11 o'clock I think, and plz tell me if you push the power button how many time the lcd display won't to open and look the lights in to display.BEST 73s
Man you sure do have a crazy high noise floor , all those signals you are missing ! what's your antenna ? Great presentation, I recently sat the exam and if I pass I might get this radio, I love those older rigs with all the buttons there in front of you , I'm not a fan of menus, menus and more menus, I think manufacturers need to go back to larger radios with buttons. I don't care too much for SDR and waterfall either, I don't like some of that poor audio you get from DSP. You can't beat pure analogue sound. What's your antenna ?
Actually it's a MP Mk5, 200 watt version, I have one. One of the best DXers rigs out there. Nice presentation...
Ron, what is the band width for transmit 2.8 and higher? Thanks Mark

..and yes, I know how bad the FT2000's were, particularly the early ones, I still love it's look.
Nice cb radio breaker!
Actually the rig does have a menu, but thankfully it's all set once and forget type stuff. It's a bit cryptic.
There IS a menu on these. Press and hold the "fast" button and press "enter" on the keypad. 73, N2CX

Great video! Nicely done. Would anyone recommend one of these rigs to someone that has a lot of DX experience but is new to the “Ham” part of radio.
How much do ther go for

Bad band day that week, lots of noise that week. OCF dipole.
Can you run so2v (Single Operstor 2 VFO) on this radio?
Yes, two VFOs there with volume adjust on each VFO. Good if you're experienced at it.
No IF stage DSP filtering.
Lots of static for 20 meters.
your camera was out of focus made it hard to see the buttons clearly.
Bar meter instead of an analog S-meter?? No thanks. Ft-990 or 1000D!!
