      I think they were saying that in the context of the two-way polling for Trump vs Biden.
      They referenced a poll with a larger sample size that shows the Gen Z Democratic support evaporating.
      Not sure what timeframe the poll was from, but different things could be affecting that, ie. Gaza, economic issues, Biden's age, etc.
      Idk if they polled for Democrat vs Republican in general to see the difference if any either, but that would be another place to look.

      Well he's the first president in 50 years not to start a war so thats nice. He took office with on the brink of war with N. He deterred Russia from doing squat, while under Biden, Obama, Bush, and Clinton Russia was extremely aggressive and even took territory.

We are more educated and aware as individuals and its starting younger and younger. If we can just get this last old set out of the way for good. So much of Congress and politics/business at the top is filled with people that were literally grown men when MLK and JFK were assassinated. They are just holding on. Biden finally did a good thing, but the rest of the system still needs to be pushed out and let the younger adults take over. We're still letting ppl that don't even know how to properly operate the internet make decisions for a population/culture that has far surpassed them.

I found one chart showing how public funding for K-12 schools changed since 2000 which varies widely by state, with a few states increasing funding and some decreasing. Another chart showed how state funding for higher education has generally decreased across the nation from 1990-2014 … as a share of general fund spending, not inflation-adjusted dollars.

    I am 69 years old. I honestly don’t understand where the younger generation got the idea that not being able to buy a home in your 20-40s was supposed to be easy! In my generation we all thought homes were super expensive and out of reach for most of us. Interest rates for homes were ALWAYS above 10% (mostly in the 12-14% range). They are now below 6%. My parents bought their first home in 1959 at 6%. I didn’t see those rates until I was 60 years old. In my life it has always been very difficult to buy a home even though I was married, university educated, good paying jobs. I just don’t think these young folks get that they are not ‘suffering’ more than their parents.

      Okay but people don’t realize that this generation (my generation) has been burdened with the unequal increase that has happened with both median wages and home prices. In 2000, the median household income was $42K and the median home value was $120K which is 3x income. What has happened now is the median salary is $60K but the median home value is $400K. So it’s almost a 7x multiple versus what it was before.

    • @neila4440
      @neila4440 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      Sigh -_-
      Do some research man. No one said they were cheap. Tons of research on generational change on this. Maybe look into average total number of hours worked to secure a home then versus today. With more dual income households, it still doesn’t begin to account for the gap among generations.

    • @doorsfan173
      @doorsfan173 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Please know, I am just replying as a 29 year old that is doing mediocre-at-best financially, and just want to share my perspective. Not an attack on you!
      The problem is that average home prices as a multiple of wages has gone way, way up. Around 1980, was something around 2-3x income. Now it is over 6x median income. This data is easy to find if you search.
      Yes, there were higher interest rates historically but the cost for homes, and much else, is higher. From the late 1970s, wage stagnation has also plagued the working and much of the middle (and formerly middle) class. Those who are doing well, the highest earners, are doing much better. Not true for everyone else. An apartment in my city, a small southern New Hampshire city, is more than 50% of my monthly income on average. I'm college educated, and make over $50,000/year (and am in-line for another promotion, which will help immensely and bump my salary considerably). Sure, free trade policies of the late 20th century maybe made computers, tvs, and smartphones cheap, but the essentials aren't. Bank of America estimates we're currently in a deficit of 4 million homes. Again, my state of New Hampshire accounts for about 40,000 of those units, driving up prices in my state (hedge funds and foreign actors buying them up hasn't helped). Home ownership and wealth accumulation for millennials & gen z observably lag behind Boomer and Gen X cohorts at comparable ages.
      Costs of a college education have also skyrocketed, burdening young people with a great deal of debt. I am heartened to see more of Gen Z being told there are other options instead of a college degree, that it isn't do-or-die. My post-recession cohort was told that if we weren't getting degrees, we could plan to mop floors. I went to the school that gave me the most financial aid, and I still put over 15% of my post-tax pay towards student loans, despite a great credit score and having refinanced the private loans I needed.
      Not everything is worse, no. But I think for folks about my age, we are observably behind generations immediately preceding us. I don't resent the folks older than me, but I resent that we're the ones stuck reaping the consequences of bad policies from before we could even have a say. But, that's life I suppose.

      The alternatives haven't been great. It's not like if Bush Sr. had won a 2nd term things would be sunshine and daisies right?
      Dubya was terrible, and Trump's first term wasn't exactly a shining beacon on the hill.
      House prices are going up because of NIMBY baboons who block new home building at every step, but safety regulations in the building codes isn't the problem.
      Strict zoning rules, suburban sprawl, not allowing multi-family units, etc affect home prices much more because those are actual blockades to building more housing units.

Basically Trump should advocate we build a lot more nuclear energy plants and THEN encourage everyone to switch to electric from fossil fuels, not the other way around or try to push “renewables” that aren’t capable of providing a stable electrical base grid.
