One thing I would like to see is you playing in the style of the team. For instance, the A’s are a low budget, home grown team. The cardinals are known for trading and extending players that are about to hit free agency
You should probably keep Arenado just so that you don't have to replace arguably your best every day player with a rush job or another expensive temporary placeholder.
If he doesn't think the roster will be competitive, trading Arenado and getting a cheap one year deal/maybe a prove it deal would be way smarter. Either getting a better pick in the draft or even more value for future trades
@@niks2392 the thing is, he can trade Arenado later in the year after a potential player has had time to develop and take his spot (assuming one is on the roster), he can keep him if they are winning and making a push, or sell him to a contender for another team's promising prospect. I think moving him in the offseason is a premature move when the guy didn't regress and can help younger guys develop.
There is a hidden “release” timing on classic pitching. Not sure if it’s been said before but to get good timing you have to push your pitch button again after you start your windup but when the pitcher is about to release the ball
Gray and Arenado are keepers for the moment. They are cornerstones you can’t really get rid of at the moment. My take is to focus on two to four projects instead of having an entire team filled with hit or miss young guns.
I'm inclined to agree with others to keep Arenado for now. Maybe look to trade a different vet for his eventual replacement. Let them develop while Arenado play out his contract.
Something to remember about the Cardinals, they will spend some money to stay competitive. One of the few teams who don’t usually outright tank or give away seasons
This offseason should bring a bunch of guys in on one year deals. Its never a bad idea to sign some to one year deals and flip them for some prospects at the deadline. This farm system desperately needs it.
SDS has stated they havent touched gameplay and honestly i dont feel theyve touched gameplay in about 2 years specifically hitting. Im okay with it as the hitting seems to be in a good place unlike the online crowd who may see otherwise. I'd like to see you adhere to Arenados' no trade clause but finding his band-aid and moving him to DH (defense permitting) so someone else can hold down 3B. With the right moves this team can be competitive in '25 and Postseason bound by '26. Nolan can be productive through age 35 as his potential presents a buffer to him completely falling off a cliff attribute wise.
The most realistic move for Arenado would probably be letting him play another season and a half before cutting him. A trade wouldn't be too impossible (remember the Longoria to the Giants trade?) but if it happens it would have to be a pure salary dump where you get a C or D potential guy that is basically just there to have an actual trade to make
Re: Adding Prospects to 40-Man If you know a prospect is Rule 5 Eligible in the coming offseason and you know you’re going to add him to the 40-man anyway, you might as well add him and call him up when rosters expand if you think he’s ready and want to get an extended look at him. Won’t burn an option year as long as he stays up for the last couple weeks. Guys like Saggese, Graceffo, Hence, and Roby all need to be protected *this winter* anyway, so you wouldn’t have lost anything by adding them during the season like you were afraid of. Their clocks would’ve started next season regardless.
@@MrHurriicaneLP As a ‘20 HS draftee, Hence will need to be added this off-season. Game says “No” for R5 during the season but will switch once you advance. Fangraphs Depth Charts are a great resource to let you know what year prospects need to be added!
Future reference for Fernandez work the fastball outside to get ahead in the count then pump cutters inside all day on lefty’s and every once in a while a back door slider on the outside corner after consecutive cutters on the hands. He actually has a nice pitch repertoire to face lefties. Think of what Mariano Rivera did with one pitch being the cutter he lived in in lefty hitters hands for years
The whole “Masyn Winn Topic” - instances like this, I wish there was an “offseason training program” to give say 2-3 players throughout your entire organization that you choose to have “extra work” done with these players. Not saying each time they just blossom into a superstar, but to see additional growth the player may be able to accomplish. Sometimes this training will help them grow 1, 2, 3 overall, and on the flip side sometimes the player will lose some potential or overall. Help you be able to see what you could expect out of the player for the next year. And if they would do something like this, say you pick these “2-3” players at the start of the offseason, and you get the results in the last year of the offseason.
Really hoping we get another Cody Bellinger and Teoscar Hernandez-like reclamation project FA sign then trade! The Belly resurgence then trade for Miguel Vargas and Teoscar trade for Trey Sweeney were key parts of the A's rebuild. Looking forward to the offseason!
with just signing gray, i think you let him around, he’s a fantastic starter that you can throw out there, and with a couple young guys in the farm looking to come up, their potential punch with gray could be nice. if it doesn’t work out that way, you can always look to move him at the end of his deal or extend him depending on regression and results.
Look into guys like Jake Junis and Tony Gonsolin in the offseason. They play way above their C potentials in my experience Also agree Winn should go to AAA and Edman can be moved to SS to open up an outfield slot
Hence, Roby and Graceffo are all gonna be rule 5 eligible after the season so you are gonna have to add them to the 40 man anyway so you should have at least seen what they can do!
I didn't quite realize it when Victor Scott was up, but especially with Matt Carpenter and Kolton Wong in the lineup, this was a pathetically slow team by the end of the year. One of the consequences of being old is being slow, and this team has no gas. Certainly something to consider among the veterans to be signed in the off-season.
I love your videos and glad I found the series. Try pressing X again when you think the pitcher should release the ball. I did not think it was a thing on classic but I've gotten good and perfect pitch releases when doing that.
I would take a good look at Lane Thomas he's a free agent and could start vs lefties and be a valuable bat off the bench vs lefties plus he's a good fielder with speed for like a late game defensive replacement guy.
Are you doing any individual training on these guys? I put 90% of the pitchers on per 9 training, and the hitters are either working on contact, or vision/discipline/clutch. Also, Donovan needs to be hitting 1 or 2, the guy is a hit machine.

I would definitely fill out rotation with some older guys on a one year deal and let young pitchers develop in minors and maybe try signing youngish infield in FA especially with a weak farm system for infield
Trading Arenado before regressing isn't a bad idea. I think the Guardians would make a lot of sense for him. A package of 2 or 3 could go a long way.. A bat like that in the AL central would make a big difference, it is probably the Guardians biggest weakness which is why it makes some sense for them with Bieber hitting FA iirc and having that $ to reallocate.
It might be best to trade Gray for some infield prospects in order to free up some money and get maybe a guy or two that could be a part of future plans at pitcher in free agency that’s a little bit proven or just some stopgaps, but keeping Gray wouldn’t be a bad idea either he just eats up a good amount of money for a few years
