    Yours is the only fishing show I watch and I wait anxiously for new episodes. I know you're a great host by the way you can draw me in, I experience the emotions as if I were doing the fishing, I laugh when you get a monster and I cry when they break off lol. Anyway, just had to tell you man, from one fisherman to another, you got it going on. See ya later buddy

    Brother Nick,
    Great movie!!
    I'm allergic to poison ivy also. Solution: Dawn dishwashing detergent and a wash rag. The wash rag is as important as the Dawn. Poison ivy oil is the problem. Dawn cuts grease/oil, and the wash rag gets into all the wrinkles of your skin. You have 1.5 to 5 hours before the oil starts to cause problems. Try it. You'll be very happy.

    I'm allergic to poison oak/ivy as well. There's a scrub called Tecnu that works really well at removing the plant oils from your skin. You could take a shower with dawn dish soap as well for a cheaper option. I think Tecnu works better. Also, handle your clothes as if they are covered in oil because they are. Back when I was little, my mother would get a rash just from handling my clothes a day or 2 later.

      Dish soap works for me. Your right.

    • @outdoorsforachange
      @outdoorsforachange 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any soap works, you just have to be thorough. Most people are not and leave the oil in places.

    • @BearLeeBadenaugh
      @BearLeeBadenaugh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just had this discussion on a forum I'm part of. Tecnu works so well because of a combination of three ingredients. First off, mineral spirits which helps remove any loose, non-absorbed urushiol(the main bad component of the oils on the ivy). Next on the list are a fatty soap and propylene glycol. The soap is to break down the oils that are already stuck to your skin and the PPG has a higher affinity for the ivy oils than skin, which results in the PPG "encapsulating" the oils and assisting in removing them from the body.

      @fishingharry5285 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just got some last week. After hours of researching the biggest thing is you need to get ALL of the oil off as soon as possible. Dawn dish soap and a washcloth for 30+ mins in affected areas. Also wash the clothes you wore separately than your other clothes. That oil will get on other clothes. The oil is like a clear grease. It’s hard to get off but one thorough wash after coming in contact will make you get little to no rash. Worked for me after taking a fall into some poison oak.

    • @matthewmccarthy2406
      @matthewmccarthy2406 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Instant oatmeal half cooked,let it sit on the skin. Will also help remove the oil if you start to break out too.

    Great fish (spotted gar is a top 3 bucket list fish for me, so I'm "studying" these videos as much I'm watching them for fun), absolutely BONKERS production value (main footage, b-reel, synthesis of angles, music, narration, etc.), and the perfect length. Its just not Thursday without a new 618Fishing episode! Excellent video as always, Nick! A tip for dealing with poison ivy: keep a small bottle of dish soap with you. When you get into it as soon as you can wash off with the dish soap, it cuts through the oils and really reduces catching it. Trust me, I get it every year. I also keep a gallon of water in the car with my dish soap after I fish I always wash down. Hope you didn't get it too bad!

    Hi! A tip for fishing:
    You need meat a can of dog food and a close-meshed fence (bunnies/chicken wire). Now you roll the meat into the fence. Hang it on a branch that protrudes over the water. As soon as flies have laid their eggs, the maggots fall into the water and constantly attract fish to the place.Greetings from Germany

Mostly caught bluegill, some crawdads (bait thieves!) and a new species for me... A 7-8 inch long bullhead catfish with a piece of night crawler! I was blown away when I saw that catfish on the end of my line, I thought I had another crawdad stealing my bait so when I saw that bullhead I was ecstatic! 😎

    Your videos are amazing! A fresh breath of air. U concentrate on the underdog fish. The so called “trash fish”. The real fish that don’t need help from the State. I got a tattoo of a longnose gar and have gotten so much crap about it from so many sportsman. America has definitely stereotyped native fish as trash and u are helping to turn that around. The best part about fishing is not knowing what’s at the end of your pole! Long live the gars, bowfins, suckers, drums, catfish, and carp. Use a perch or trout for bait just to stick it to those old sportsmen 😂

    Always nice to see fish treated with respect - some nice catches, especially the Gar - I fish mostly UK rivers and canals for fighting fish, like pike and barbel, reservoirs for big carp, and catfish, they can be crafty and tough to get, even if you can literally *see* the darn thing, and in my opinion, amongst the toughest fights to land bar none, so far - sturgeon. They don’t jump so no resting, although some lovely trout have fought long and hard too - definitely a decent workout for any man in his 50’s. 👍😉🇬🇧
