If it was just for me, I would really enjoy living in this flat. The kitchen would need some workarounds but it's doable. I'm absolutely in love with the living room. I already have visions of all the planters covering the ledge beneath the windows. I could have my own mini herb and veg garden while still getting a lot of light!

@@nickyG1212 , kitchens in even the most expensive of NYC apartments are sorry ass. Wall of appliances is all some of them are. I've come to the conclusion that no one there cooks. I'm no chef by any means, but even my kitchen in Florida, with about 10 feet of counter space, in an L shape, broken up by sink and stove, is sometimes too tight.

Karl Ravilus Disrespectful? I have never seen a room show disrespect. How does this disrespect manifest itself? Does the fridge make piggy noises when you open it? Does the stove have a recording that screams out “Crap cook” when you try to bake something?
In any case, it’s a one bedroom apartment. Why would you want a bigger fridge or oven? Maybe a trolley/island, at a pinch.

This would be SUCH a great place for a couple. It's honestly pretty perfect. Besides the kitchen being a lil stingy, but you could bring in a lil Ikea roll-away island to up the counter space. Really cool apartment though. It's very 80s rom-com NYC living.

  • @femmebrulee5053

I think it's great. It's like a big greenhouse and I'd have room for all my plants. I'd make the kitchen work. If you're single and not cooking for a bunch of people it's workable. I'd definitely put a tall shelving unit on that side kitchen wall for more storage space with a rolling butcher block or drop leaf table below it. 223-2

If I owned that apartment, I would move the entry to the bathroom to inside the bedroom. Then you would be able to fit out the kitchen on three walls, thereby gaining a lot more work space and cabinets, and you'd be able to install more appropriately-sized and better appliances, like a dishwasher. I''d also investigate the feasibility of putting a washer/dryer in that huge cupboard off the entrance. Do all that, and it would be perfect!

I found myself musing over the great potential for decorating the living room space in this one!! And the location is a-mazing! I agree that I can envision a small cart or shelving unit by the window or as you pointed out, or along the wall by the door for meal prep. It would not be a deal breaker for me. And I am the cook! No dining area but the living room is large enough to put a dining table & chairs in it near the kitchen entrance. Wondering if they allow pets (cat). Had to laugh when you spotted the medicine cabinet! If there are drawers etc nearby, they are not necessary. Not ready for a move from our Atlanta townhouse just yet, but is great seeing all these videos from you. Another great video, Cash!

I really like this one! But I suspect that your heating and cooling bills will be really high here because of the windows! They look like single pane glass, and metal. So they will be cold in the winter and hot in the summer! I’d put a long narrow table right in front of the windows in the kitchen. More workspace and you could eat there too!

How you could improve the kitchen: shallow shelving (looking at the door to living room - however much space between the door frame and wall) right under the window, level with it - add countertop on the window ledge and shelving together, and you'll have SOME more storage (shallow), and a LOT more countertop/prep space.

Did you ever discover why the rent was so low? Just because of current large inventory of available residential units? Whatever the reason, it is a stunningly beautiful, unique apartment. The kitchen, although compact, can be made to work. Your idea of a roll-away island is a definite item to have. Gosh, it even has a marble countertop for the bathroom lavatory. Everything is posh and roomy. Someone is going to get a wonderful apartment. Again, thanks for the tour.

The kitchen works because the apt is almost equidistance between two Trader Joes, near a Target, tons of restaurants, you dont need to be fully stocked all the time. The 4 hotwater radiators in the living room is weird. Is it because of the windows? I live in a high floor apartment, 2 blocks away and I never have my radiators on because of the heat from the radiator pipes in the wall, infact I have the windows open in the winter a lot.

I find it a mystery why they would put heating and cooling elements right by the windows-- the biggest source of energy leakage in the apartment. The heating/cooling bills will be astronomical, not to mention how they break up the flow of the room.
I guess some plants might do to partially hide those eyesores, but it is a conundrum.
The kitchen, though is an offense against cooking.

this wonderful place gives me ideas, in the kitchen instead of a dining table I will put a work table to put the toaster and the coffee maker. there would still be room to cut the vegetables. I saw that it had a power outlet on the window side and I will put a kitchen table in the living room (I can listen to your videos and eat at the same time) 19 x 11 enough room for a sofa and a small coffee table kitchen and even a work desk

You could put two side boards in the kitchen, one were you pointed to and one along where the windows are so there should be adequate space to prepare meals.
That walk in closet by the front door is going to have to hold vacuum cleaner, coats, ironing board, mops, luggage and linens. A busy closet.
To share you'd have to put 2 twin beds in the bedroom. Good for 2 college kids not so good for 2 working adults.
Other than that, I liked the apt.

I DO Cook, also have a small-ish Prep space ( 14 x14 Inches, @) you'd be surprised how much you can adapt to and, thus, achieve!

Replace that tiny medicine cabnet with a larger one. get a stand for above the toilet for towels.

I can make the kitchen work by adding an island. The problem w the apartment is the living room because of the windows. Light passes thru the windows, heating up the walls and floors. The heat generates convection currents which results to dust particles being lifted up from the floor and moved to every single spot, corner, or any surface.
Meaning, a lot of cleaning cause of the dust particles. Plus allergies and asthma.

    • @lindagarrido4353

The 3 heaters and 2 AC tell me that all those windows cause a lot of heat loss in the winter and in the summer it would be like living in a greenhouse. The kitchen is unfortunate. I think I'd like it better in the Fall and Winter because I'd have a nice Christmas tree and because of the virus I'd put it up early like in November and take it down late, like just before Easter. 🤣 We left our tree up until March this year, it's not like anyone came over and it made me happy. I'm sure the neighbors were talking about us though because you could see the tree from the street. We'd j laugh every night when we turned the lights on.

Definitely an apartment for someone moving into new York that wants to be in the heart of new York and union square. It's a bit odd layout but manageable. The landlords or building management should definitely consider refreshing the building and apartments. Looks dated. Again your paying for convenience. What firm do work for. I actually like the style of the old apartments that are shown on this channel. The white bathroom was really appealing and the place is clean and bright. The fact that New Yorkers accept these paltry kitchens in decent apartments absolutely floors me. Even a substandard hole, where I live, will include a full kitchen. I have to ask, are you at all concerned that your lack of punctuation or proofreading will impact a colleague's first impression of you? Or is that the reason you chose not to reveal your real name and company when introducing yourself?
