I REALLY wanted to love this game...but the more I play of it, the more I find fault in it. From the torso lagging way too far behind the mouse even with arm lock on, to enemies literally spawning out of thin air right in front of you, to the sensors being basically worthless, to autocannons not hitting anywhere near the center crosshair at anything under 100m, to the massive framerate drops I get only when zoomed in in 1st person (even on minimum gfx settings) that makes long range gunnery impossible, to the random and arbitrary "oh you did a mission, 16 days are going to pass where your company sits on its ass doing nothing instead of repairing your mechs, traveling, or doing anything at all that might be considered useful while time ticks closer to the monthly cost payment", to the terrible range and accuracy of intel on the starmap, which only displays contract and market information for planets very close to you and sometimes shows contracts available that you spend 100k and 20 days in travel and arrive only to discover they arent there anymore, to not being able to see industry hubs at any kind of wide area zoom, to the salvage system often leaving you unable to salvage a mech you carefully headshot even though you maxed your potential salvage because it costs more shares than you could possibly have on the mission, and most of all the build system being VASTLY more limiting than even MWO....I mean it's kinda ludicrous that I can put 2 LRM10's on my hunchback-4H's right torso, but a single LRM 20 that weighs the same as 2 lrm10s, well, we can't do that. Or what about pulling out all 6 medium lasers from the gunbox of a hunchback-4p, can I replace them with a single large laser? NOPE. Nevermind that same gunbox can hold a 14 ton ac/20, replacing 6 tons of medium lasers with a single 5 ton large laser is just not possible for some arbitrary reason. It's pretty, but from a gameplay mechanics perspective I'm kinda disappointed.

@@hf4040 I'd wait a couple weeks or maybe 2-3 months to see what the game developes into. So far there seems to be some lacklustre skill mechanics, bugs and poor game play design.
I've noticed the "Auto save" after missions, seems to occur before you select the salvage.... and doesn't give you the option to get your salvage. You can also (god knows why) click past your salvage and take nothing, as well as skipping using your negotiation points. In some other Mechwarrior games, that would give you bonus "Reputation" but here, nothing. I've gotten in the habit of manual saving once I've finished a mission, which also helps with other bugs.
Cutting off the head of the snake, was talked about in Sun Tsu’s art of war. He called it something else I believe. He argued that your objective was the Center of your enemies power, not the people.
I was expecting better visual quality from this game, but I"m glad to see they included a good weapons bay for custom builds and have the option for using a joystick. Will be waiting until on steam and/or a price drop before I purchase this game, since so many mixed reviews about it.
Losing that Spider to the glitch was a bit of a heartbreak, but if nothing else, you're definitely teaching me to remember to click that "Repair" button!
For what it's worth- PSA: the mechs are affected by RNG for the market. I found some Shadow Hawks, noted their location, and travelled to it multiple times. Only the first trip had them. They are probably rare. If you see something you want, know it may not be there later. Also, after travelling DEEP into Steiner space, I found heavier mechs to already be available. May be worth the cost if you want to get something for soloing missions or later.
God, the AI is so terrible. Imagine being Tier 1 in MWO and seeing opponents running around in the open back and forth getting their armor whittled down to zero and then running straight at you with their center torso fully exposed for the kill shot.
tonebenderx As a veteran but rusty mechwarrior player (stopped after MW4), this game is not easy. It’s not hard, per say, but some missions can surprise the hell out of you. While I was underestimating the difficulty, I got CTed a few times, and crippled a few more. You have to play seriously, at least.
on the previous episode the last quest was vs. the nearby industrial zone owner, i think you should check who are you messing with before starting quests or the market could get to much expensive because of rep.
For most missions not requiring mech kills I can run a locust around, destroy the target and run to extraction. Fast mechs have been working out better than slower/heavier mechs. Sure that will change with harder missions taking out mech targets. Current Merc rank is 9.
Man, I played almost non-stop since launch. I just installed reshade and used one of the MWO presets. It looks so much better with bloom and lens flare.
Bara in last vid: "I'm not getting any meaningful decisions" Bara in this vid, after running head-first into fisting range w. _everything_: "Goodbye AC10"
Ide say leave feedback on the store page in the review section... but whoops looks like your game client is to *Epic* for usefull features, ah well by the time I do get the game on steam hopefully these little bugs can be ironed out. Nice game though
11:25 So apparently you can go under 10 HS? Also i find it odd that a Flamer is considered a small energy weapon, even though it's the same size and weight as a ML. "Min maxing" you do know you can lose the game if you go broke right? So get the C-bills however you can, it's called strategy. Learn when and when not to sell or repair. Also there's a saying in the Army. "Slow is smooth, smooth is fast." If you rush you make mistakes which takes longer to fix, let this be a lesson to you. So the only clear and evident bug is the reload function eating salvage, so might be worthwhile saving manually after missions and across multiple slots.
Man this looks like an upgraded Mech Warrior one, I played the crap out of that game back in the early 90's and haven't played a mech game i like since probably Mech Warrior 2.
Agreed! Even in the later stages, I am still using my Spider hero Mech! That way it frees up tonnage to give my lancemates extra heavy mechs! #Easymode
That panic was real... You thought the store was your inventory and loaded an old save. Also, try ac5 and srm6 for the centurion. Almost same ponpoint DPS at long range, and a massive spread damage at short range.
Hi all, anyone around with tips for some jeager action? found my first... and hell is it "weak" due to the massiv aircrafts it loses an arm nearly every mission... I could lower from AC5/AC2 per arm to 2x AC2 but... the loss of damage would be massiv and is it worth the armor?
@Shurryy Namegenerator Sure but does the Jeager still be viable with just AC/2 (or BF versions) as 4 of them seems to be not that "much" specially as a AI Mech, as I Pilot my AC/10+4 Hunchback and wreck everything... as alternative I have 3 Shadowhawks for the AI,, weights 10Tons less but brings far more Armor, an AC/5 (BF depends on my selection), SRM4 or 6 and the same amount of ML... so I think to myself that the Jeager might be "weaker" than the SH on AI Characters, but even with some testings I dont be sure...
hehe dude, the game demands fast twitch play, there is not time to plan and standoff when things spawn within your formation etc.... A pity but that is what this game is. Still enjoyable chaos in coop. But it is all shooting ALL the time.
I know this video was several months ago and I'm sure you have figured it out by now, but you can actually change mechs between missions on a multi-mission contract. Pilots as well. At least on the Xbox with the DLC.
I know this is an old video, but if you're still responding, how do you expand your mini map, please? I've seen you do it and other people do it in their videos, but I can't figure out how to expand it so it zooms to a bigger map. I know there is the B key, but that's not what I'm talking about. Your actual mini-map in the upper left zooms out larger, then zooms back in to the standard mini-map. How do you do that?
And defense missions you need to keep the team mates under strict conands like non stop otherwise they run thru the base that needs defending and wipe it all from running into buildings
Dude, first you took contracts against Davions and than you took contract from Davions, this way you will not increase your friendly status and also negotiation points. Try to level up friendly status for 1 contractor, because you are in House Davion territory it makes sense to take contracts from them and do not take contracts which are against them.
Hey can you test if the AI can manage a mission themselfs by only giving orders to them? Would be interesting how well they are at focusing targets or choosing the right weapon for an enemy.
Think I finally realized what's been bugging me a bit about this game. When mechs take damage they don't seem to react in any way. When you take a big AC20 hit I'd expect the mechs' torso to get knocked about, and it to break stride or at least brace against the hit. But they're just really detached from what's happening to them.
Not seen all of the video yet. But Baradul the game gets buggy after a load of the game. It didn't do it with salvage and damage for me but when I re loaded the game after my own screw up. It loaded all the camo patterns. With random colours. It is an issue with the game that needs to be fixed soon. And it only seems to happen if you reload a recent save.
I am WAY to trigger happy and impatient to wait for lance mates to do something lol. I usually walk away beat up BUT with weapons intact. Per mission, not a good idea for me to use the mech in another mission until repaired lol.
One time, I was like more than halfway through the BattleTech campaign, and my campaign save just disappeared, and then a few days later, it reappeared.
I got hooked on this one after signing up for gamepass, although this mission in particular has been a thorn in my side, should I wait to recruit some other pilots to try this mission? I must've attempted it almost a dozen times without success! otherwise loving this one a heck of a lot!
Ahh, I'd buy the game if it was a little less pricy for what it is right now. 40 is a bit steep for what I'm seeing here. One dealbreaker is the lack of a proper deep skill tree.
To be fair, none of the classic mechwarrior games had skill trees. I wouldn’t be opposed to one, but it doesn’t fit the classic formula (which seems Piranha was aiming for).
Going to second the guy saying don't rush so much. No one's going to mind if you take a second to think and avoid miss-clicks. We're Mechwarrior fans, we're using to a slower paced game.
I went back and double checked, both times the 'Mechs didn't repair, you didn't actually hit the Repair All button. You pulled out or swapped busted equipment, but didn't actually tell your MechTechs to repair the 'Mech. Honestly, that's a UI failure, it really should have you confirm work orders on damaged 'Mechs that don't include Repair orders.
I was re-watching what was happening there. I derped with the market/inventory tab. But the random loss of the Spider still hurts.
You should armor up your jenner

very close to you and sometimes shows contracts available that you
spend 100k and 20 days in travel and arrive only to discover they arent
there anymore, to not being able to see industry hubs at any kind of
wide area zoom, to the salvage system often leaving you unable to
salvage a mech you carefully headshot even though you maxed your
potential salvage because it costs more shares than you could possibly
have on the mission, and most of all the build system being VASTLY more
limiting than even MWO....I mean it's kinda ludicrous that I can put 2

Winter wheat! *and no, that's not how winter wheat works*…. But it does get planted from Sept to mid-December....
Loving this series! Please carry on.
Also awesome lets play so far, graphics are tight!
You didn't miss the high reward mission. They are on the home screen as pending transmission.
And you really should play them. They are chains, but you can only choose one, good or evil ;)
you can right click items in the mech lab in and out of the mech. Also you can press TAB to open the menu instead of going to a console.
Thank you for your gameplay!!!!
From italy!!!
I love mechwarrior from 1980
For what it's worth- PSA: the mechs are affected by RNG for the market.
20:32 hmmm... thanks for the shout out I guess >_>
God, the AI is so terrible. Imagine being Tier 1 in MWO and seeing opponents running around in the open back and forth getting their armor whittled down to zero and then running straight at you with their center torso fully exposed for the kill shot.
enjoy the campaign videos, but it doesn't seem all that challenging ... so far.
tonebenderx As a veteran but rusty mechwarrior player (stopped after MW4), this game is not easy. It’s not hard, per say, but some missions can surprise the hell out of you. While I was underestimating the difficulty, I got CTed a few times, and crippled a few more. You have to play seriously, at least.
Bara, you should know by now that bugs are part of PGI's modus operandi
That still doesnt excuse it
Great Vid! I would like to see some missions with more primarily missile content please, for longer range engagements.
Helpful tip: You can right-click items in the mechlab to either unequip or equip. You don't need to drag them over.
It looked like the spider was gone after the re-load. Bummer. Keep your chin up, thanks for the vids.
on the previous episode the last quest was vs. the nearby industrial zone owner, i think you should check who are you messing with before starting quests or the market could get to much expensive because of rep.
For most missions not requiring mech kills I can run a locust around, destroy the target and run to extraction. Fast mechs have been working out better than slower/heavier mechs. Sure that will change with harder missions taking out mech targets. Current Merc rank is 9.
I'm starting to reflexively double tap F1 in single player when a light mech shows up.
Man, I played almost non-stop since launch. I just installed reshade and used one of the MWO presets. It looks so much better with bloom and lens flare.
Bara in last vid: "I'm not getting any meaningful decisions"
Bara in this vid, after running head-first into fisting range w. _everything_: "Goodbye AC10"
Only up to this part and dang is he good at this
Ide say leave feedback on the store page in the review section... but whoops looks like your game client is to *Epic* for usefull features, ah well by the time I do get the game on steam hopefully these little bugs can be ironed out. Nice game though
just watch your starmap, there will be a system marked as "hero mech appeared", I have brought a HBK-GI which sell 8M C-bills with a gauss rifle!
Regarding the unmoving Jenner: appearently, it has to be triggered by damage, otherwise it does not move. Well, damage can have multiple sources...
Do weapon groups affect the AI teammates? Aka do they fire weapons according to the grouping?
Yes
(just watched until 17:14) What about stripping the jenner of its Jumpjets and reinforcing the armor?
Well it has fuel tank combined with it.
Man this looks like an upgraded Mech Warrior one, I played the crap out of that game back in the early 90's and haven't played a mech game i like since probably Mech Warrior 2.
Love this game. Got now alot of hours in it cant stop playing game
Losing the SDR Spider was a bummer. It's one of my favorite light Mechs.
SLOW DOWN. Remember, we’re trying to learn as we watch you. It’s cool. Slow & show .......
hehe dude, the game demands fast twitch play, there is not time to plan and standoff when things spawn within your formation etc....
Those "satellite dishes" are HPG Hyper Pulse Generators. The interstellar communications system.
I've been home with the flu for 3 days, and eagerly waiting for this ep to drop today. Thanks again for sharing this with us Baradul!
I see I wasn't alone haha.
At least you have a video of the incident.
I can't unsee the debris falling into the mech's cockpit..
Hey Bara, try shooting from a distance once you get a crab or blackjack, really helps
This game has an absolutely brutal autosave bug. If you load an autosave after completing a mission, any mech you salvaged will disappear forever!
At least it sounds and looks like you are actually in a real Mech. Trouble is that it doesn't feel like a Mechwarrior game.
Love the vids! Went ot buy the game but forgot it was epic so....not a chance:(
Wish they hadn't made a deal with Epic, I want to play this game.
Then hit the high seas until it comes to steam, or hopefully, gog
your tripping baradul, your salvage is in 'inventory' while you were in 'market' tab.
Hmm, does the helicopter which Baradul shoots down at 3:35 destroys turrent few seconds later?? Some skill Baradul! :)
What do the tiers do on weapons?
It means their slightly better.Better range and damage usually
Always check for pilots every now and then you can find pilots in the 40s for max skill
Do you always play with arm lock off?
I got hooked on this one after signing up for gamepass, although this mission in particular has been a thorn in my side, should I wait to recruit some other pilots to try this mission? I must've attempted it almost a dozen times without success! otherwise loving this one a heck of a lot!
The Jenner did not have an arm, because you did not repair it, only replaced the lasers, but did not click the "repair all" before starting the work.
@@JoshuaVTrinity But MW4 did have Pilot training, like in the AI started with a certain level of skill and improved, righto?
Yet people play mwo.
Going to second the guy saying don't rush so much. No one's going to mind if you take a second to think and avoid miss-clicks. We're Mechwarrior fans, we're using to a slower paced game.
The game works so well aye? I am not disappointed that I have not gotten the game.
I have found that Jenner is fine in the hands of a player but in NPC hands mine is consistently the only one coming back wrecked.
The difference between tier 0 weapons and tier 1 appears to be far greater than between tier 1 and tier 2.
that derpiness attack tho
I went back and double checked, both times the 'Mechs didn't repair, you didn't actually hit the Repair All button. You pulled out or swapped busted equipment, but didn't actually tell your MechTechs to repair the 'Mech. Honestly, that's a UI failure, it really should have you confirm work orders on damaged 'Mechs that don't include Repair orders.
