    This was a great video BW! The work is outstanding and the Gasser is truly a hand-built master piece. Enjoy seeing the dogs out there helping in the early videos. Spring right around the corner and time to enjoy all the hard work. Later Buddy 👍

    Great to see these classic "gassers" making a comeback. They are so old school and I especially love the headers coming out the front wheel wells.

    I hope you can get that Hilborn style fuel injection system working. That is so old school. I'd be really interested in seeing a video of that system. I grew up in the sixties and saw many cars with that system but never really understood how it worked. I was a Toyota master tech for 30 years and I know electronic fuel injection inside and out but I'm totally in the dark on how the Hilborn style fuel injection works.

    I know it’s the look, but do you actually even really save any weight nowadays with a straight front axle compared to tubular a arms I highly doubt it.

    • @bwsgarage
      @bwsgarage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I doubt it, honestly I wasn't even considering weight, heck my tilt nose is all steel

    Your subject is great !! I had a job at a Chevron Gas Station when I was 17. I had a 56 Nomad that I Drag Raced and performed quite well on the drag strip, andon the Street. This was a couple of years Before the movie, Two Lane Black Top. I sold my Nomad and bought a 55 Chevy 210, 2dr Sdn. I was 19 at that time. Like many people in the 60's, like you're doing now, I cut the frame off at the firewall, built a subframe out of 2x4 Chromoly boxed tubing. I built a 12.5 to 1, 60 over 57 283 and a 69 Z-28 solid lifter cam. I installed a Shafer 11" Aluminum Flywheel with a Safer Velvetouch Clutch Assembly. I bought a Rock Crusher M22 4 Speed and installed 513 Posi in the rear. I modified the Rear End Housing at the Sping Purches into a Triangle Pad so the housing couldn't spin. I added 1 leaf spring to each rear spring after cutting the eye off each end. The front Axle that I used was a Chrome Straight Axle I bought from Speedway Auto Parts back east. I ordered to be used with 1954 and earlier passenger car Spindles. I added early Camaro Disc Brakes with caliper mounting brackets that I made. I used cardboard for patterns. I also used 3 steering arms, at left and right on the right spindle and 1 left on the left spindle. The upper spindle on the right ran to the Pittman Arm. The lower Steering Arms is where the Drag Link ran left to right. I had Doug Finder Well Heards that ran to stock mufflers and out the back. It was difficult to keep the front wheels on the ground :>) By the way, the 5 holes you're welding are called Plug Welds, not Spot Welds. ;>) Enjoy your 55 Gasser!! I'm 74 and enjoying my Black & White 56 Bel Air 2dr Hard Top 350, Muncie 4 Spd, my 57 150 2dr Sdn Ram Jet 502 w/M22 4Spd & my 530 hp 468 w/Turbo 400 Factory A/C, Factory Red on Red (Clone SS with all SS Emblems inside and out) Wagon, New from Chevrolet 15x7 Rally Wheels and Red Strip Tires from Coker Tire. I love Retirement !!

      Great story, sounds like your build was rowdy! Small blocks, Rev them high and lettem fly! Mine got a rat in there 454 bored over to make a 468, 5 speed tkx500 trans with a yukon nodular center section 4:56 gears. 35 spline axles. It's pretty rowdy too 😆 I aint turning the kind of rpms your small block did. My valves start to float around 5800 rpms. I got a stump puller LOL.
      Thanks for the comment, great stuff
