I love how she makes each album counts and takes her time to do so. I keep coming back to her with each album, it's not constantly on repeat like other artists I listen to, but a full album experience? There is no one like Florence. Whatever she puts out, I'll be there.
I really think Florence is a special artist. Her lyrics, delivery, and voice are, in my opinion, top tier. She is a magnetic force. Nobody does it like her, and nobody ever could!
She's fantastic, I've been singing her songs since I was like 14, am 24 now still have her first 2 albums. She definitely doesn't get enough flowers, she's a masterful, ethereal, badass.
I just seen her in chicago a few days ago and she’s absolutely insane. Ethereal. Otherworldly. It was spiritual. Her voice sounds just like the recordings 😭 she’s everything
zane kinda being too loud in this interview 4me… sometimes florence was still building a thought in her head and getting ready to put it out into words (because she clearly expresses her feelings and emotions and thoughts best through art and not interviews or conversations) and then zane comes and tells what he THOUGHT she was TRYING to mean and then he resumes into a kind of a generic statement when like… if he had wait… something really really really meaningful might would have came out of florence, u know?... but well, it’s okay i guess.. florence made it worth anyway
Completely agree, Florence seems like a very gentle person who takes her time explaining her thoughts/process and this guy just gave me mansplaining vibes lmao
Exactly. Quite arrogant, and made it all about him. I thought he was a Kiwi (accent obv.) so checked it, and sure enough: trying too hard. (Am saying this as a kiwi.) She had no opportunity to speak on her terms. Him trying to psycho-analyse everything. duh? How she endured an hour I don't know. Disrespectful of him.
I wish Florence was my English teacher in an alternate universe because her analysis would actually transcend the texts and with her voice you would just be so captivated; she would put you in a trance. I love the way that her mind works and the way that she expresses things. Some artists have to really try to create imagery in their music but for Florence that is just the natural language of her mind and I love that and it really comes through in her music. I love when they talk about her being a vessel for this force of performance and music. I do genuinely think this is what she was born to do. She has grown so much as a person but she has never lost her Florence-ness. Will always be a fan.
This album is going to be another incredible piece of art. Personal, powerful, so genuine.... there's a reason her music resonates with so many people.
I had no idea she was both An Incredible Artist and THIS HARD ON HERSELF. Like it's incredibly relatable, but I guess I assumed after such a measure of obvious global success, and a billion comments on every platform of how moved thousands of people are, you would realize how awesome you are. And I suppose it's just so incredibly, heartbreakingly human, for her to still perhaps think "Naw. People will hate this." Or "Maybe they're just being kind or pretending." I learned a lot about her, in this interview. So thanks for providing it. Oh, and dark humor is a super handy way to cope with human existence-- which is often absurd and terrible. So we laugh or else we cry. Or we do both. Laughing in pain doesn't necessarily mean you aren't acknowledging the pain; it may just mean you do, but you're processing it differently.
I don't know how to deal.with this existence..it is FAR TOO OFTEN TOO ABSURD and FAR TOO TERRIBLE which is part of why I'm writing this this a complete stranger..but it just is that horrifying..how can I write songs and sing like her might help. .but not really..
Let Florence finish her words and thoughts as she is still forming them. She has something intimate to share, so please let her instead of cutting her off and interject with your own thought and what you think she'll say. It kept happening throughout the interview and it became really annoying.
Thank you for writing this comment. I haven’t been able to finish watching the whole video because the ego and personal agenda of the interviewer is that disruptive.
There's another track by track interview of this album on TH-cam that I love and the interview really let's her form her thoughts on her own. Don't think I'll watch this one now couse that one did such a great job.
She’s perfect. She’s just so relatable and so human and like everyone is saying “pure”. She’s just- words can’t explain. I started listening to her music when I was little little and every time I listen to her music I can only describe it as “ethereal”. Her musics literally make me feel like I’m leaving my body or my heart is swelling or my ears are just happy. She’s just perfect.
Thank you Florence for putting your more vulnerable songs out there. Free is a really important song for me right now and it has made me feel a lot less alone x
This interview is so vulnerable and authentic and just an incredible insight into song writing and it’s parallel with life!! Love Florence and the machine so so much, god tier music
I’m so ready for this album. Florence is truly one of the most genuine and vulnerable songwriters I can’t wait to listen to the songs that haven’t come out yet I can only imagine how good they are
I like the interviewer guy. And it honestly seems like they even have a good pre-existing relationship. But dude, I was so annoyed by him interjecting on sentences that she was in the middle of. I'm legit hanging on to her every word and he kept interrupting with his own thoughts or assumptions about what she said or was going to say. She would always kind of pick up from there but the sentiment would often get redirected into a direction that it (at least to me) seemed like she wasn't taking it. She honestly seemed fine with it but i heard way more of that dude than i was hoping for in an interview meant for her.
Having listened to the album, this interview is so interesting because you can really hear the harsh break in between the first half of the album and the second half, starting with Girls Against God. Two very different but wonderful vibes, so it makes sense that it represented before and "after" the pandemic!
The way she says “Things make sense to me” at 43:26 is almost the same way she sings it on “My Love”. Makes me appreciate her ability to translate everyday sentences into lyrics with rythm even more.
This album was incredible and I was in shock (in a good way!) the whole time listening to it. Every song is so good and emotional and aesthetic and amazing. The lyrics are so creative and inspiring and full of anger and sadness and joy and melancholy. I love it. ❤ Thank you so much Florence for all you do, you have no idea what you and your music have meant to me.
Hi Apple, your interviews are beautiful. As a non-English person, may I suggest you to incorporate some English subtitles? Just to enjoy the interviews even more. Here in Italy they aren't available, not even the automatically generated ones. Thank you. 🙂
There are a lot of good questions, Zane asks and I guess he really connects with the artitst. But it's the third interview now I'm watching, where I feel like he kind of gets over his head. I feel like he wants attention, while it's actually more about the artist. He asks the same good questions as in the past, but there's something different about him. Sorry to say, but I enjoyed him more in the past. Tho I don't want to sound unappreciative of his work!
OMG I totally agree with you, and Florence is so catartic in her mind or ways she express in life, like I feel he couldn't be on the same mind level as Florence and don't misunderstood me , not many people has that capacity of knowledge and Spiritual level as some persons like Florence and he was trying so hard I don't know I feel he couldn't connect to the intention of the artist or the album .
I agree, sometimes he gets too philosophical / about himself and how he enjoys the artist music rather then to let the artist speak for themselves. Still enjoy these interviews though as they are more lengthy than others.
Even watching this interview has a therapeutic effect on me. Florence, you give me such inspiration and joy with your music, dance, ideas and all the other ways. Thank you for being who you are. 💝💫🥳
She is incredible, one of the best artists of our time. I've been a fan of her since the first time I heard her singing. It was a video I saw of her performing at the David Letterman show. I hope I can see her on tour in the next few years!
What a beautiful conversation! Florence is my absolute favourite musician on the planet. No other artist ever makes me feel like her. Her music hits me deep in my bones and flows through my body like golden light. Florence is sooo incredibly talented and she seems like such a cute person, I would love to be friends with her
Such a beautiful soul. Her music touches my soul on a level no artist could dream of. I feel as if which each new release I'm living or have recently lived what she's singing. Dance Fever is fantastic . I bought the Dance Fever vinyl though I dont own a record player I just like collecting them. Can't wait until that gets here. ❤ you Florence and of course the machine too! I hope I get to see them live one day. I live in a place they normally don't come too. The closest show is a 7-9 hour drive. But if I end up getting tickets I will drive that far to see her and the band. Worth it for a true artist with beautiful songwriting and music. Oh and of course, congratulations on the dance fever release. (As if I'm talking to Florence lol.)
I love how comfortable she is on this interview. I've been a fan for over ten years and love her more after each new album, but this one... Wow. Just wow.
Ita beautiful to see her like this. Shes so in her power and seems at peace with her art and process. Very inspiring. I make a living with visual art and feel so seen the way she talks about process. Love it so much. This is an incredible interview. 👏👏
King is such a magnificent song. Every woman knows what she is referring to. Being a mother or being a king. Very frustrating and unfair. Men dont have to take the same hard decision and sacrifice a part of who they are.
Zane, I have never felt so in touch with a music interviewer before. Everything you ask and say with other artists I have felt. It feels so existential to watch someone who gets me to the core
I have watched other interviews with Zane/Apple Music and he’s alright not too bad. But as a huge fan and appreciative person of Florence/her music. It would’ve been more organic and a breath of fresh air. To actually hear and be able to listen to Florence speak along with finish her responses properly. Without constant interjections, which made this interview sort of all over the place. I thought I’d try to watch this a second time, but it’s not worth it due to Zane’s constant cutting her off, interjecting, there are other fortunate better interviews when Florence is able to express the poetic stories behind her lyrics, and writings etc I’ve discovered. This one is a no for me Zane, the artist is the subject not you.
I agree completely. He didn't show her much respect. I was surprised how often he took the ball and talked about himself when all we want to hear is what she has to say. Too bad. Not the best interview. But still refreshing to hear so much from her about her experiences. She's incredible.
Florence- You are an amazing legend. My favorite musical artist of all time. Thank you for putting in all of the work and love that you do to your music. It changes lives
Jesus, can he just let her speak. He's obnoxious. Continuously chimes in dissonantly, showing he's not truly on the same page in a lot of his interjections. She has so much to say here which is really rewarding for those who are deeply invested in her art and yet he just continuously yaps and barks, his mic is also way too loud in the mix making every single interruption even more frustrating.
Watching this again as I'm getting ready to see Florence tonight in Auckland, and just had to share how excited I am it's my first time EVER seeing Florence and this beautiful album truly saved me last year when I was stuck in the deepest depression. Thank you Florence and thank you Zane for this amazing interview 💜
Am I the only one incredibly infuriated by the amount of times he interrupts her flow to quip about something for which he's not even insightful or specific? Just plain platitudes. It seems King was the only song he knew enough about - lyrics-wise anyway.
what song are they discussing in the very beginning of this interview? they discuss it at length and I'm guessing it was just played before this video started, but I can't tell what song they are discussing and I would like to know thanks
They were talking about Free. She mentioned that the song has an "existential bridge". The lines "to exist in the face of suffering and death and somehow still keep singing".

Pure facts 💯
I really think Florence is a special artist. Her lyrics, delivery, and voice are, in my opinion, top tier. She is a magnetic force. Nobody does it like her, and nobody ever could!
Definitly an actual artist. Not just an entertainer like most ppl in music.
She's fantastic, I've been singing her songs since I was like 14, am 24 now still have her first 2 albums. She definitely doesn't get enough flowers, she's a masterful, ethereal, badass.
🥺 I’m the same, I’m 24 & I remember having dog days are over during year 8 & dressing all indie & hippie back then :,)
Ceremonials is my favorite album ever.. wait.. probably need to listen to it...Lord bless this majestic, ereathreal woman

I agree, what a clown
Her makeup and the lighting are so on point, she looks like a heavenly being

in the first setence Florence used the word pure the word sums her up so well, pure energy radiates from her, she is refreshing
She’s so articulate. I look up to her as a songwriter.
