  • Boston Omaha Corporation (BOC) has been compared with an early-stage Berkshire Hathaway, but its performance hasn't been anything close to what Warren Buffett and his team were achieving after 10 years in business. In this video, longtime Fool.com contributor - and Boston Omaha shareholder - Matt Frankel discusses the company's recent developments with colleague Tyler Crowe. Is the stock a good value right now, or are there too many red flags?

Why own a business that generates no shareholder returns since inception? Stop rationalizing a losing investment. Note low returns on capital. Growing dilution. Management isn't aligned with shareholders. How much abuse will you take?

The only thing that I've seen to provide some hope is insiders are starting to increase their positions.

Matt that's a very good but also honest breakdown of BOC. Thank you.

An utter shambles to be honest. This was always a bet on the Managment teams ability to buy assets at a good price; one has left, and the other has given up buying assets (other than billboards and fiber). If I had wanted to invest in solely a billboard and fiber business, there were much less risky ways of doing it.
The only bright spot is that the business is unlikely to ever be worth zero, it has little debt. But that’s about it.

These clowns keep shilling for BOC. Shareholder value being destroyed everyday.

Thanks, Matt and Tyler, for an interesting discussion on BOC, a company I have stayed away because of, among other things, the lack of management and operational transparency.
