@ 7:58, that is called a "Crock Pot" its a device that allows you to prepare almost an entire meal in it. You would place a large piece of meat in it along with potato/carrot/onion/spices/ and water and you would turn it on in the morning and by the time you would get back home 8-12 hours later, it would be done cooking and your house would be filled with a delicious aroma. Its one of my favorite methods of meal preparation in the colder months.

That's no cabin! That is a gorgeous old farmhouse...with 4 fireplaces! It has the original cabinets in the kitchen too! That fold out cabinet wasn't meant as a trash can, it was to store potatoes or onions. It still has original light fixtures and the glass door handles. Gosh I'd love to move this house to a nice property and fix it up...it's not in bad shape at all.
That's what the younger generation see, tell it how they see it, heaven forbid if they studied up on it first to know what they were talking about, that would mean an extra effort. The pull out bin was also used for flour because it was constructed in such a manner if you happened to have a mouse it couldn't get in your flour. Did you notice the beautiful cabinet with the enamel top, I loved it, so sad that stuff is just going to go to ruins, sinful. I am with you would give anything to have the home the contents in the home, some valuable things in there, so sad. Home is no good now to far gone. It seems it is always those who receive who don't appreciate, don't value, are not grateful, if I had of inherited the home I would of shown my gratitude by keeping it well taking care of, everything would of been spotless, kept up.
It's definitely a deer camp. It's a big deal in many states. Guys get together, families get together. Freezers full of meat n good times! Bringing lots of good food.
Look closely at the panels on the lower part of the kitchen it gives clues to the age of the house. In the mid to late 1800's houses would have an "open" kitchen which was open to the elements to prevent food smells from entering the home. This structure would consist of three walls and be open to the great outdoors except it would have a roof above it. Later, the kitchen was given a fourth wall and enclosed probably in the 1920's or 1930's.

It definitely was a place that not only the family but friends of the family came to enjoy. I am sure that it has a lot of great history. Just so you know, at least in Pennsylvania there are cabins all over that seem abandoned but are hunting cabins. People from New Jersey, New York, and other states own hunting cabins and properties up here in the mountains they come visit just for specific hunting seasons. JC

By the refrigerator, that's known as a hot water heater. We do use boilers here in North America like the wall hung units in Europe, but mainly for hot water, but people do use them for heat as well.
You are absolutely 1000% correct. People don't appreciate our beautiful nature not to mention the wildlife that struggling to live because we're cutting into their habitat building homes and shopping malls. I see it every day going to and fro. Really sad. 😥
You're so right. We have apartments on the southeast side called Fox Run Apartments & a newer housing addition on the north west side of Wichita that's called Fox Run ( too ) You can see packs of little red foxes in the early morning hours as they're climbing in & out of the street drainage & waste bins. They're being ran out of their habitats thus the name FOX RUN. Others mention deer hunting to keep the deer population down so we don't hit them with our cars. We're encroaching on their homes & killing wildlife at a fast rate. I think almost everyone I know's hit a deer or knows someone that has. Had a 21 year old try to miss hitting a coyote out south of town recently & flipped his van, died at the scene. Sadly he lost his life saving an animal that would probably eat him if it was hungry enough. We're afraid of them out here as there's huge packs of them. Pulled up in the yard about 3am to a sea of eyeballs, about 15 of them in the front yard, was very intimidating. Have to learn to live with them around though it's their world too.
The whole thing is terribly sad, when it comes to the animals. That is just what they were using that old home for was hunters at hunting time, the very reason for all the small beds, toilet paper, hunting clothes, spelling bags, deco deer, it was all in that home for that sole reason. There is 100 acres for hunting, the care giver is more than likely making real good money off that. The house is open so we know he is checking regularly or the place would be destroyed as that home has been empty for a long time for people living in it. It is sad, sinful that all the valuable antiques are just being left there to go to ruins, beautiful things that will never be able to replace. It seems that nothing seems to have any value any more, sad so true, few people value anything anymore, especially if it involves work, taking care of, not their thing, takes energy !!!.

7:51 crock pot / slow cooker. They're great for cooking beef or chicken slowly. There are cookbooks just for slowcookers 9:17 a lot of slow cooker recipes call for cream of mushroom soup. Delicious gravy when beef is slowcooked in it. 23:28 i believe that home is around 100 years old or more. If you have the address, you can look it up on county property records by the address and find out when that house was built. 13:31 Also that huge building next to the house in the photo is a barn. Hay would be stored in the loft above (the doors open and you can toss the hay out onto wagons) and horses below.
I like your comment about trash. As for myself, I haven't seen someone throwing trash out their vehicle window in a long long time. I have however, see trash or items flying out of the back of pick up trucks and garbage trucks. There is a lot of trash along the side of the road where I live and the cause of it is the garbage trucks running to the dump. You would think of all people, waste management would set a better example!
Your absolutely right on this. I have to come out to the front of my house every Thursday to make sure that the garbage truck and the men do not let garbage fall out of the truck as it goes up the street . I have had to pick up trash that they dropped and didn't bother to Bend down and pick up. People also over fill their trash containers to the tops and then it falls out and down the street as the wind blows it around. Waste management is to blame for not addressing this problem with their employees and not notifying the customers about being more responsible in keeping their garbage inside the containers and not on the ground.. 8 yrs. Of this on my street. It's the people.

Such a beautiful older southern style home. I don't care for hunting myself, but had family members that hunted just to fill their freezers and to share with many others, so I can respect that part of it. The folks must have had a great time gathering together there. The home had some feminine touches too. Sure hope the family can bring this wonderful property back to life. Georgia is so beautiful. Hey guys! ❤️ This is my 3rd exploration with you all in Georgia. Very nice home used as a hunting lodge. The items in the closet near the kitchen were for members to use if they needed them. There was a crock pot for slow cooking on high for 4 hours on low for 8 hours and a toaster oven, not a microwave. The jugs held kerosene for the white heaters you saw that had thick wires around them if it got cold enough. Members paid 500.00 several years back to go down and have deer to bring back to N.C. a lot because they are plentiful but better for their not-so-gamey or wild tasting. My brother used to do this with 5 guys from our area in the mountains. I would guess reservations were made in advance and dues paid well before the season opened. Maybe the year or more ahead and plans to keep it for 5 years was what usually happened. Hunters are known to be good men and would never damage the lodge. Maybe down for COVID. I hope it gets started back soon because it is needed and plenty of deer there now! Thanks for this I interesting explore ❤
Hello, for many families here in the states we depend on the meat to get us through the year. Another reason for deer hunting is that the population quickly gets out of hand if not for the hunters. We are seeing a decline in the number of hunters with the older population dying and not many younger hunters filling the spots. This can result in overpopulation which is a big problem when it interferes with the crop from local farmers (deer herds eating the crops for the food supply or to feed the cows). We also see a raise in vehicle accidents involving deer (which can be deadly for both the deer and the people in the car). Before "the new world" was settled, the native populations also hunted and white tail deer were one of their main sources of food, hides for clothing, antler (used for multiple things), etc. I understand that it's not for everyone but it is something many families depend on. We do have trophy hunters but for most it's to feed the family. Not to mention its a lean meat (less fatty) and healthier.
I've just finished watching this while having a cup of tea there were so many rooms what a lovely place. I also thought about how many people that may have come through the home over the years. so sad to see it abandoned hopefully one day life will return to its walls. I love Georgia! This quaint hunting lodge is really well equipped for hunters. Sad to know their is a family feud going on as to who gets what. I also, commend you on your respect showing us this property. Also, we always could use the advice to “Keep America Beautiful” picking up the trash.

Reminds me the house my grandparents lived in with the screened in porch. Cosy, homey little home. ❤️ You would also find out that those that hunt use the deer meat. They have the animal processed. A person that hunts are only allowed one deer by shooting and one by bow hunting. Only certain time of the year, they cannot hunt all the time. The mama’s and baby deer are not hunted. They have to have a hunting permit. Hunting keeps the deer population down otherwise they become to overpopulated for themselves to live and also become a danger to the highways. Many people are injured or killed by deer leaping on to the road ways. What most people don’t realize is deers are attracted to the vehicle head lights. Yes, there is fencing along the road but they do leap it. This house definitely was someone’s house for a group to come hunting. I, nor my husband are hunters but we know people that hunt.
I got that same sort of feeling as well. My grandparents loved hosting dinners at the inside porch area of their cottage on the lake. I miss those days.
In New York State you have to have your deer processed by an approved and registered facility and the facility will donate the meat to places approved by the state. Just in case someone wants to do it. I'm sure the DEC has a list on their website of approved facilities.
9:30 .... This compartment was for potatoes to keep them fresh and away from critters. The kitchen cabinets were built in the 1930's as evident by the hinges which are known as butterfly hinges commonly found on handmade solid hardwood cabinetry from the 1930's.
Hopefully they will come back. They probably couldn't get together for the last 2 years because of covid. That, or sell the home to someone who will love it again.

You are soooo right about the garbage on the sides of our highways and other areas. I see this all the time and I can't understand why anyone would do this. It's shameful when someone like yourself who is from another country, makes this observation and is a reproach to this state. You are absolutely correct in your statement and I agree with you. Garbage does not fall from the sky... people throw it wherever they please.they just don't care. You don't see this in other countries. I hate it.

These people don’t hunt for sport, they hunt for food. You can tell the difference. I’m a Colorado native and you can tell the difference between game hunters and those who hunt for food. I would hate to see this farmhouse go to waste. It has beautiful potential. Thank You for the PSA, (public service announcement). Maybe if people from other countries start noticing how bad the garbage is in forests and roadways it will change. We, as Americans, take a lot of things for granted.
Littering is a problem, especially where I live. Here, it's the city people who have camps up on the hill. Beer cans, fast food wrappers and dirty diapers. Disgusting. They don't care, they live that way in the cities and think it's ok to do out here. Before anyone tries to argue with me, we and all of our neighbors see firsthand what they do while they're here. We are so happy on Monday mornings when we get our peace and quiet back. This a nice little hunting camp. My husband and our sons all hunt for meat. It's nice to go into winter with a freezer full of venison. As far as the mounted deer go, we get the big bucks done as a memory of the successful hunt. I know there are people who don't understand it, but I think a good rule to follow is to not judge anyone unless you have walked in their shoes. I hope it can once again be a happy busy place. Most likely the house was used as a deer lease. Several people would buy into the lease then use it on the weekends. Sometimes even coming during the off season. Here in Texas lots of times a travel trailer that is pulled behind a truck is put onto a property if a house isn't there. I have several friends that have deer leases. They treat them like weekend getaways.
I stumbled upon this video and decided to watch it; it is not usually the kind of video I seek out. I did see some elements I considered to be really interesting. First, the item at the 6:33 mark is a barometer--not a thermometer. When I saw three coffee pots lined up on the kitchen counter, I thought it seemed strange until I saw all the beds in this dwelling. I can't say I'm convinced the place has been abandoned for "years." Although there was a chair that was covered by a large cobweb, and a corner of a dresser drawer that had a small cobweb on it, I found the dwelling to be remarkably devoid of cobwebs. And although there was a light layer of dust on some surfaces, I found it interesting that objects could still be reflected on the surface of a table in the hall/corridor. Another interesting thing I noticed was the lack of dead insects covering the flat surfaces. The range in the kitchen is likely 2018 or newer as the electric coils contain Sensi Temp Technology (those little silver buttons in the middle of the electric coils) which became required by new UL Regulations beginning in 2018. I got the impression the very dirty curtain located next to the lamp that had been knocked over onto the bed was probably the result of a window that was either left open or was broken as it was only the bottom half of the curtain that was very dirty; it made me think the wind/rain blew into the curtain causing the lamp to tip over. And, no, the item hanging on the kitchen wall that looks a bit like an owl is not a hot pad; it is a piece of macrame wall art which I think was most popular in the 1960s or 1970s. And whomever it was that utilized this dwelling struck me as very neat and tidy! The numerous beds are well-made (there was one bed that was made so well I thought it looked as though a quarter could have been bounced off the surface military-style!), and the bathroom did not appear to be disgusting. I laughed thinking about all the snoring that must have been going on if all those beds were in use! Then I wondered how they divvied up the rooms--adult women get one of the rooms, adult men get another room, boys get a room and girls get a room? And I did think the place looked as though it had a feminine touch to it: wreathes and artificial flowers on walls and furniture, figurines in various places, etc. I do hope the owners of the property can come to some kind of agreement soon, as I do think the place deserves to be restored. Pity that it has to be so close to a roadway, though.

I think that must have been a very close family at one time, because not everybody wants to sleep in a room with other people as evidenced by all those beds. It's a shame that they seem to not be using this great place. Maybe the adults became older and the kids grew up and didn't care about hanging out there with their older family anymore. Sometimes there's one or two people that really glue a family together and it's quite possible they died. I think if they were really super worried about someone being in that house they would have locked it up tight and signs would have been posted very prominently. It's a great video for making the mind run through scenarios as to what happened to the Happy times that must have been going on here at one time. 🌼

The cottage is defiantly seasonal, nothing personal just the things you need for a short visit. what kills me is why fight over the place, they have the house sitting on 100 acres of land, instead of fighting sell the place so it doesn't become one with mother nature, take the money and run. We have apartments on the southeast side called Fox Run Apartments & a newer housing addition on the north west side of Wichita that's called Fox Run ( too ) You can see packs of little red foxes in the early morning hours as they're climbing in & out of the street drainage & waste bins. They're being ran out of their habitats thus the name FOX RUN. Others mention deer hunting to keep the deer population down so we don't hit them with our cars. We're encroaching on their homes & killing wildlife at a fast rate. I think almost everyone I know's hit a deer or knows someone that has. Had a 21 year old try to miss hitting a coyote out south of town recently & flipped his van, died at the scene. Sadly he lost his life saving an animal that would probably eat him if it was hungry enough. We're afraid of them out here as there's huge packs of them. Pulled up in the yard about 3am to a sea of eyeballs, about 15 of them in the front yard, was very intimidating. Have to learn to live with them around though it's their world too.
The whole thing is terribly sad, when it comes to the animals. That is just what they were using that old home for was hunters at hunting time, the very reason for all the small beds, toilet paper, hunting clothes, spelling bags, deco deer, it was all in that home for that sole reason. There is 100 acres for hunting, the care giver is more than likely making real good money off that. The house is open so we know he is checking regularly or the place would be destroyed as that home has been empty for a long time for people living in it. It is sad, sinful that all the valuable antiques are just being left there to go to ruins, beautiful things that will never be able to replace. It seems that nothing seems to have any value any more, sad so true, few people value anything anymore, especially if it involves work, taking care of, not their thing, takes energy !!!.

7:51 crock pot / slow cooker. They're great for cooking beef or chicken slowly. There are cookbooks just for slowcookers
9:17 a lot of slow cooker recipes call for cream of mushroom soup. Delicious gravy when beef is slowcooked in it.
23:28 i believe that home is around 100 years old or more. If you have the address, you can look it up on county property records by the address and find out when that house was built.

When I was driving a deer, would run on the hood of my car. I was driving about 50 miles per hour. Crazy, never forget it.
I like your comment about trash. As for myself, I haven't seen someone throwing trash out their vehicle window in a long long time. I have however, see trash or items flying out of the back of pick up trucks and garbage trucks. There is a lot of trash along the side of the road where I live and the cause of it is the garbage trucks running to the dump. You would think of all people, waste management would set a better example!
Your absolutely right on this. I have to come out to the front of my house every Thursday to make sure that the garbage truck and the men do not let garbage fall out of the truck as it goes up the street . I have had to pick up trash that they dropped and didn't bother to Bend down and pick up. People also over fill their trash containers to the tops and then it falls out and down the street as the wind blows it around. Waste management is to blame for not addressing this problem with their employees and not notifying the customers about being more responsible in keeping their garbage inside the containers and not on the ground.. 8 yrs. Of this on my street. It's the people.

Such a beautiful older southern style home. I don't care for hunting myself, but had family members that hunted just to fill their freezers and to share with many others, so I can respect that part of it. The folks must have had a great time gathering together there. The home had some feminine touches too. Sure hope the family can bring this wonderful property back to life. Georgia is so beautiful. Hey guys! ❤️ This is my 3rd exploration with you all in Georgia. Very nice home used as a hunting lodge. The items in the closet near the kitchen were for members to use if they needed them. There was a crock pot for slow cooking on high for 4 hours on low for 8 hours and a toaster oven, not a microwave. The jugs held kerosene for the white heaters you saw that had thick wires around them if it got cold enough. Members paid 500.00 several years back to go down and have deer to bring back to N.C. a lot because they are plentiful but better for their not-so-gamey or wild tasting. My brother used to do this with 5 guys from our area in the mountains. I would guess reservations were made in advance and dues paid well before the season opened. Maybe the year or more ahead and plans to keep it for 5 years was what usually happened. Hunters are known to be good men and would never damage the lodge. Maybe down for COVID. I hope it gets started back soon because it is needed and plenty of deer there now!

Hello, for many families here in the states we depend on the meat to get us through the year. Another reason for deer hunting is that the population quickly gets out of hand if not for the hunters. We are seeing a decline in the number of hunters with the older population dying and not many younger hunters filling the spots. This can result in overpopulation which is a big problem when it interferes with the crop from local farmers (deer herds eating the crops for the food supply or to feed the cows). We also see a raise in vehicle accidents involving deer (which can be deadly for both the deer and the people in the car). Before "the new world" was settled, the native populations also hunted and white tail deer were one of their main sources of food, hides for clothing, antler (used for multiple things), etc.
I understand that it's not for everyone but it is something many families depend on. We do have trophy hunters but for most it's to feed the family. Not to mention its a lean meat (less fatty) and healthier.

I love Georgia! This quaint hunting lodge is really well equipped for hunters. Sad to know their is a family feud going on as to who gets what. I also, commend you on your respect showing us this property. Also, we always could use the advice to “Keep America Beautiful” picking up the trash.

I love that home and land, reminds me of farm's here in west virginia, farm houses are the best.

Reminds me the house my grandparents lived in with the screened in porch. Cosy, homey little home. ❤️ You would also find out that those that hunt use the deer meat. They have the animal processed. A person that hunts are only allowed one deer by shooting and one by bow hunting. Only certain time of the year, they cannot hunt all the time. The mama’s and baby deer are not hunted. They have to have a hunting permit. Hunting keeps the deer population down otherwise they become to overpopulated for themselves to live and also become a danger to the highways. Many people are injured or killed by deer leaping on to the road ways. What most people don’t realize is deers are attracted to the vehicle head lights. Yes, there is fencing along the road but they do leap it. This house definitely was someone’s house for a group to come hunting. I, nor my husband are hunters but we know people that hunt.
I got that same sort of feeling as well. My grandparents loved hosting dinners at the inside porch area of their cottage on the lake. I miss those days.
Also, some hunters donate the meat to food banks for the needy. Vinson, is very healthy, low cholesterol , low fat meat.
In New York State you have to have your deer processed by an approved and registered facility and the facility will donate the meat to places approved by the state. Just in case someone wants to do it. I'm sure the DEC has a list on their website of approved facilities.
Might still be used for that.
It reminds me of my Uncles farm house close to Joplin Missouri.

9:30 .... This compartment was for potatoes to keep them fresh and away from critters. The kitchen cabinets were built in the 1930's as evident by the hinges which are known as butterfly hinges commonly found on handmade solid hardwood cabinetry from the 1930's.

You are soooo right about the garbage on the sides of our highways and other areas. I see this all the time and I can't understand why anyone would do this. It's shameful when someone like yourself who is from another country, makes this observation and is a reproach to this state. You are absolutely correct in your statement and I agree with you. Garbage does not fall from the sky... people throw it wherever they please.they just don't care. You don't see this in other countries. I hate it.
Interesting look into an old farmhouse. I was sad to see it lost its farmhouse charm to become what it is now. Hopefully the family will sort out their differences and the house van be restored to a home. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
These people don’t hunt for sport, they hunt for food. You can tell the difference. I’m a Colorado native and you can tell the difference between game hunters and those who hunt for food. I would hate to see this farmhouse go to waste. It has beautiful potential. Thank You for the PSA, (public service announcement). Maybe if people from other countries start noticing how bad the garbage is in forests and roadways it will change. We, as Americans, take a lot of things for granted.

Littering is a problem, especially where I live. Here, it's the city people who have camps up on the hill. Beer cans, fast food wrappers and dirty diapers. Disgusting. They don't care, they live that way in the cities and think it's ok to do out here. Before anyone tries to argue with me, we and all of our neighbors see firsthand what they do while they're here. We are so happy on Monday mornings when we get our peace and quiet back. This a nice little hunting camp. My husband and our sons all hunt for meat. It's nice to go into winter with a freezer full of venison. As far as the mounted deer go, we get the big bucks done as a memory of the successful hunt. I know there are people who don't understand it, but I think a good rule to follow is to not judge anyone unless you have walked in their shoes. I hope it can once again be a happy busy place. Everyone seems to be angry about everything all the time now. 😞 Take care, Mo. 😘

Most likely the house was used as a deer lease. Several people would buy into the lease then use it on the weekends. Sometimes even coming during the off season. Here in Texas lots of times a travel trailer that is pulled behind a truck is put onto a property if a house isn't there. I have several friends that have deer leases. They treat them like weekend getaways.

I stumbled upon this video and decided to watch it; it is not usually the kind of video I seek out. I did see some elements I considered to be really interesting. First, the item at the 6:33 mark is a barometer--not a thermometer. When I saw three coffee pots lined up on the kitchen counter, I thought it seemed strange until I saw all the beds in this dwelling. I can't say I'm convinced the place has been abandoned for "years." Although there was a chair that was covered by a large cobweb, and a corner of a dresser drawer that had a small cobweb on it, I found the dwelling to be remarkably devoid of cobwebs. And although there was a light layer of dust on some surfaces, I found it interesting that objects could still be reflected on the surface of a table in the hall/corridor. Another interesting thing I noticed was the lack of dead insects covering the flat surfaces. The range in the kitchen is likely 2018 or newer as the electric coils contain Sensi Temp Technology (those little silver buttons in the middle of the electric coils) which became required by new UL Regulations beginning in 2018. I got the impression the very dirty curtain located next to the lamp that had been knocked over onto the bed was probably the result of a window that was either left open or was broken as it was only the bottom half of the curtain that was very dirty; it made me think the wind/rain blew into the curtain causing the lamp to tip over.
And, no, the item hanging on the kitchen wall that looks a bit like an owl is not a hot pad; it is a piece of macrame wall art which I think was most popular in the 1960s or 1970s.
And whomever it was that utilized this dwelling struck me as very neat and tidy! The numerous beds are well-made (there was one bed that was made so well I thought it looked as though a quarter could have been bounced off the surface military-style!), and the bathroom did not appear to be disgusting. I laughed thinking about all the snoring that must have been going on if all those beds were in use! Then I wondered how they divvied up the rooms--adult women get one of the rooms, adult men get another room, boys get a room and girls get a room? And I did think the place looked as though it had a feminine touch to it: wreathes and artificial flowers on walls and furniture, figurines in various places, etc.
I do hope the owners of the property can come to some kind of agreement soon, as I do think the place deserves to be restored. Pity that it has to be so close to a roadway, though.

I think that must have been a very close family at one time, because not everybody wants to sleep in a room with other people as evidenced by all those beds. It's a shame that they seem to not be using this great place. Maybe the adults became older and the kids grew up and didn't care about hanging out there with their older family anymore. Sometimes there's one or two people that really glue a family together and it's quite possible they died. I think if they were really super worried about someone being in that house they would have locked it up tight and signs would have been posted very prominently. It's a great video for making the mind run through scenarios as to what happened to the Happy times that must have been going on here at one time. 🌼

The cottage is defiantly seasonal, nothing personal just the things you need for a short visit. what kills me is why fight over the place, they have the house sitting on 100 acres of land, instead of fighting sell the place so it doesn't become one with mother nature, take the money and run. Hi Maureno & Lesley. In America in the South many homes were built with what is called a Dogtrot 22:07 "That is the wide long hallway from the front to the back of the house" also know sometimes as a Breezeway.
