  • It's been a bit since my last video on the Hilux.
    But I'm back with an update! In this video,
    I go over the progress made on the truck. This is also the first time that it has run!
    Also. The charger is a Gen 2. ( I said Gen 1 in the video but its actually a Gen 2)
    Thanks for tuning in!

    I love how raw and sketchy this truck is. It's always fun to see professionals doing stuff to their personal projects that they wouldn't dare do to a client's.

      Some of it is certainly "raw" (which I like, too), but by the standards of EV conversions I don't see anything "sketchy". It looks like a generally rational and solid build.

    Did you have any problems with the accord rotors playing nicely with the hub? I'm going to follow your example and use Accord brakes with my Leaf hubs and axles, and weld on tabs onto a de-dion tube to hold the calipers. Should be pretty simple.

    My goal is to do my 89 ,did you need a vacuum pump for the brakes? How does it feel with the weight in the back? Jave you figured out range? Cool job, thanks for the videos.

    • @J5Jonny5
      @J5Jonny5  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a good year. And Thank you! No vacuum yet. Since I have regen its been pretty easy to stop it. it drives like a Porsche. Range so far is fairly low at 80 miles. mainly the tires and awesome aero dynamics make it bad lol.

    Hi I see a lot of folks in the US modifying cars. I am curious about what is the process (if any in the US) to make those cars legal to drive on the roads. Thanks.

    Better shield that wiring and put in a skid plate in the front. Those storage boxes aren’t that strong BTW. They will crack very easily specially in cold weather with an asymmetrical load.

    • @J5Jonny5
      @J5Jonny5  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm adding those things soon. And good point. mine is already cracking. but its ok there cheap lol.
