Thank you for posting the video. I used to watch Ch 29 in Macomb County, southwest of Sarnia, across the lake. My little Hitachi B+W could pull in many of the channels in southwest ONT. I was a teenager at the time, and enjoyed the British programs that aired. I remember a number of Rock music related shows. One stood out for me, it looked as though it was produced locally and covered the topic of New Wave music. Ah, the memories. Thanks again.
Does anybody remember a late-night programme on Global called "Night Ride"? It was simply a show where a camera was inside a car driving around town late at night with jazz music playing in the background. I didn't quite get the point of that show. Was it simply to lull insomniacs to sleep or something?
IIRC, here in Buffalo in 1989 or 1990, WKBW(Channel 7) had a similar concept... during the wee-morning hours in between late night / early morning fare, a car would be driving around Downtown Buffalo with jazzy music.

Used to go to sleep with this in the eighties.Awesome.The Canadian National Anthem has never been done better,in musical arrangement or visuals.
I saw that when I was a kid, but it was already fairly old by then. Do you know what year that was made (maybe you recognise some of the athletes, for instance)?

@@paullambert8701 No,but judging by hairstyles and clothing I'm going to guess about 1976.
When my folks and I first relocated to the Buffalo area back in 1980, we were able to get Global via Channel 22... even though the Channel 6 region was closer to us.
Is this the full song from him? I know the Toronto song but don't know if this is just a short bit for the sign off or a longer song? Thanks for posting ;)
@@Retrontario Yep and I think I remember it was a colored "globe"/pic of the world and Mom and Dad played it...Would be cool to hear the full version...Merry Christmas
I love this old stuff, Thanks for up loading!

the show you remember might have been The New Music.
That melancholic feeling during TV sign offs. The Germans must've had a word for it.
🤣🤣👍

This has to be from the early-mid 80s, as the channel 22 transmitter in Cottam (later Stevenson) is missing.
And the call signs where now CIII-TV....C3 "We've got to start...."
@EveryDayPolice 1984
Did your eyes well up?

Is that the tail end of Kung Fu's closing credits at the beginning of this clip?
Looking for the full song again.

Tommy did record a full version of this song which was released on 45rpm when Global TV went on the air. This is a much shorter condensed version.
