    This was likely from Tuesday, March 27, 1979, since they gave a promo for the first airing of _The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe_ which was for Sunday, a promo for _M•A•S•H, WKRP in Cincinnati, and Lou Grant_ on Monday, and the promo for the series premiere of _Dear Detective_ on Wednesday (which was actually the same day the Three Mile Island accident occured), but skipped Tuesday.

    I can finally say I have the mystery solved. WHEC ran the CBS Saturday Movie on a delay (they ran it at 11:30 pm on April 1, 1979). What they ran at 9 pm the night before (on March 31, 1979) was a different movie - "The Liquidator" (1968).
    More info in this PDF: fultonhistory.com/Newspaper%2011/Geneva%20NY%20Finger%20Lake%20Times/Geneva%20NY%20Finger%20Lake%20Times%201979%20Mar%201979/Geneva%20NY%20Finger%20Lake%20Times%201979%20Mar%201979%20-%200967.pdf

      My guess is that WHEC showed the Saturday Night Movie on delay because they probably broadcast a Rochester Americans AHL hockey game that night.

    @geekgirltv2011 I think it was quite common to see the identical national anthem films (which were frequently produced elsewhere and acquired for use by the stations) on different television stations and networks

    I take it WHEC-TV aired the CBS Saturday Movie at 11:30 pm that night, (after their 11 pm newscast)being that they signed off after it.

      Just guessing here, but they probably preempted the movie to broadcast a Rochester Americans AHL hockey game...I seem to remember WHEC showing some of their games on Saturday nights during the '80s when I lived in Eastern Ontario..

  • @mannbradmusic
    @mannbradmusic 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice!
    Plus, for the courtesy of you and others who view this, the words of our national anthem were written by Francis Scott Key in the aftermath of the British attack on Fort McHenry during the War of 1812 upon seeing the American flag still waving over the fort that morning and below are Mr. Key's words if you want to read them while listening or sing along as you stand with your hand over your heart.
    The anthem begins at the 3:31 mark.
    O say, can you see,
    by the dawn's early light,
    what so proudly we hailed
    at the twilight's last gleaming,
    whose broad stripes and bright stars,
    through the perilous fight,
    o'er the ramparts we watched
    were so gallantly streaming?
    And the rockets' red glare,
    the bombs bursting in air,
    gave proof through the night
    that our flag was still there.
    O say, does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave
    o'er the land of the free
    and the home of the brave?

    • @looneytunes9000
      @looneytunes9000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wenbao Sun Tegna didn’t come into place until Gannett spun off the broadcast division from the newspaper print division in 2015. The broadcast division was renamed Tegna(Gannett spelled backwards). Tegna has been operating my CBS and my My Network TV affiliates (WWL-TV, CBS since 1957 sign on) and WUPL-TV(licensed to Slidell, Louisiana but also serves New Orleans) and Satellite station WBXN-CD 18 (Licensed to New Orleans as a satellite station of Ch.54, My Network TV/alternate CBS affiliate since Belo’s 2007 purchase) and 50% owner of News Watch 15 since Gannett/Tegna’s 2013 purchase of Belo. The latter is 50% owned by Cox Cable of New Orleans. Tegna just recently purchased KTBU of Houston from the Spanish Broadcasting System just two months ago on March 24th of 2020 for $15 million dollars. Making it a sister to KHOU and flipping from Spanish to English language programming three days later on March 27th with programming from the Quest Network (making it a quest O&O) while changing the legal license name to KHOU’s license name KHOU-TV, inc. and moving operations to KHOU’S facilities giving Tegna a more big presence in Texas after the 2019 KWES-TV purchase.

    Wow, what an idiotic thing to say 1518karen. Only a head-up-their-ass Conservative would make a TV sign-off video into a political issue. My Mom didn't stay at home, she worked so we wouldn't end up on the STREET after my father died. Typical Conservative, b&w, only only one right way type of thinking. I'm a "liberal" and I work damn hard every day and support myself, and I believe everyone is equal, but Conservatives don't get that. If you're different, you're "bad" is the Conservative mantra.
