According to the National Retail Federation, San Francisco, and Oakland are among the cities most affected by these crimes, followed closely by Los Angeles, Houston, and New York. Our Elizabeth Cook, explores this issue with State Senator Lola Smallwood-Cuevas, discussing a potential new state bill aimed at addressing the problem.

They should have T-shirts made for them. Not that we'd need a T-shirt to point out the "usual suspects."

The reason they are bolder is because there is no capital punishment.

self checkout restrictions - failing to target the problem. This is not a question of automation.

None of what these people are doing is more than a ticket. It’s not a misdemeanor or felony anymore to shoplift if no violence was used and the items stolen are less than $950. Even if the police were there they won’t take these people to jail. And the unlucky ones that actually managed to get arrested they’re not convicted or given harsh penalties. They’re released immediately because the prosecutors cut deals or the judges give too lenient sentences. There’s no accountability with drugs, homeless, property crime and the retail theft is all part of this defund the police, decriminalize non violent crimes and empty out our jails and prisons political narrative that doesn’t see any of this as problem. It’s not retail theft, it’s justice shopping. So far this policy has been a massive failure.

It’s sad but keep in mind that SF is a woke city so the citizens will continue to vote for failures policies that don’t make sense and keep that once great city into a cesspool. They obviously love their mayor and don’t care a bit about any tourist visiting the city. So blame the voters they love that hellish feeling

The people in this video are teenagers who have homes, live with their parent(s) and have no supervision or discipline and aren’t held accountable for f all. The youth are seriously damaged from bad parenting, crap teachers and enabling non profits/judges who see them as “good kids having a bad day”.

Noise in excess of 180db like the din at 2817 High Street in Oakland that started at 2020hrs. Sounds like Band Practice. Harmonizing with karaoke. Jolene, Cover of McCartney Blackbird 180db.
Germane to story. This sonic assault I am enduring has a tie in to retail theft by flash mobs. No adequate or timely response. I was 150 in the cue when I got OPD non emergency at 8pm. I only got the contact by calling 911 first.
Like the old wino in Kubrik's A Clockwork Orange "Thar's no Lawr' and Ordar' anymahr'".
BLAME THIS ON DEFUND!!!. (Now take A and E out of the first word ...then you'll know who else to blame.

    Civilization has entered late-stage capitalism.
Capitalism is an insatiable hunger, one which is inherently incapable of expressing the concept of "enough" - it's a system that must chronically engorge (without pause).
Poverty is the mother of necessity; the comfort of the rich, depends upon an abundant supply of the poor.

This literally has zero to do with capitalism. It has to do with criminality and lack of consequences. Education is not your friend.
