My personal take on the thing with Frieren and Fern here is that it isn't so much about being good exactly as much as it is about being heroic. Fern was raised by a man who idolized and looked up to Himel, The Hero. So she has a strong inclination to help people who are in trouble, like how Heiter helped her. We saw that all the way back in episode two, where Fern's stated objection to the flower quest (I suspect it wasn't her only reason) was that Frieren could be doing more. By contrast, while Frieren can be quite kind when she thinks to be, she can also be very casually indifferent, especially with strangers. This episode focused directly on that dynamic, but we will see it come up again here and there.
Great reaction! Fear is a great motivator, but you have to keep your wits and resolve to harness that power. For example, fear of losing your job can motivate you to learn new harder skills to impress your boss and make you more valuable to the company. Panic could cause you to lash out to your boss and get fired. That's how I think Stark learned from Eisen. BTW, Eisen is a dwarf and they live much longer than humans, but not nearly as long as elves.
When considering what is said about Eisen and Stark running from their village, remember that Japan had guerrilla warfare combatants from ww2 active until the 70's.
The main theory I have is that the reason Frieren goes so overboard to kill the phantom with such a hugely powerful attack, is that even though she doesn't show it, deep down she is absolutely RAGING that it tried to use Himmel against her... Hence the overkill!
When Frieren says she was used to "flamme was begging for her life" that's because when both fight against demons Flamme indicates to be weak to fool them. Actual it would be rly cool when fern can reach her parents and Heiter at aureole. How fern looks like she would fly with the staff like a broom xDD The one punch man-face stark does gets me every time, wholesome funny xD

Stark creating the fissure in the cliff for 3 years was him telling the dragon, "I'm here still. This is my territory." without realizing it.

That makes sense

Just remember, the real treasure is all the friends Stark made along the way.

Episode 7? Reminder that 8-9-10 are best watched in a single sitting!
