    Thank you so much, that seems to have fixed my problem.
    I did a little digging to try to understand what those numbers mean.
    1: "System-Specifies a driver that loads and starts during kernel initialization after drivers with a Start value of 0 have been
    started."
    3: "On Demand-Specifies a driver or service that the Service Control Manager (SCM) will start only on demand."
    So choosing 1 means the driver is loaded automatically when Windows starts, with 3 the driver will start when Windows sees a need for it, which is why it would (usually) start if I kept hitting a key when Windows was booting.

      @@aksharpatel1097 Why not? As long as you don't do anything too far off you shouldn't break Windows. I'm STILL Having the problem, it's just not as bad. Windows never sees my keyboard at a cold boot, but when it's rebooted it always sees it.... so for me the "fix" is to start the computer, then reboot it.

    Great help. It's amazing how this short videos can solve a three hour problem, regardless of saving you from buying a new keyboard, PS/2 adapter, etc.
    I've spent the whole weekend cleaning and oiling the levers of my logitech keyboard and there's no worse way of starting a week than connecting the keyboard and not being recognized at all. Couldn't find a solution until now. Awesome!
    I'm buying a HTG Tee right now.

    I notice that you r not responding to ?s, so this may just be a shot in the dark but... is this fix a viable option for whatever my issue is... asdf ... keys randomly work or don't past few days? If I hold down key for a while it will eventually type. Or is this for a keyboard that isn't working at all? Thanks

    • @busyb0695
      @busyb0695 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Changing this value to 1 means the driver for your keyboard is loaded automatically when Windows starts. I doubt it would fix random keys not working. Have you tried reinstalling the driver?

    • @lseeber01
      @lseeber01 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@busyb0695 I have updated, uninstalled driver, powered off, removed battery and all that. I'm guessing the keyboard is going but it's odd to me that it's only the asdf. They eventually work if I hold down for a abit. sometimes they work fine but no Caps on those keys either.

    • @busyb0695
      @busyb0695 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lseeber01 If it only affects certain keys it would normally think it to be a physical issue. I.e. loose, corroded or broken connection somewhere. The thing that throws me is that it works if you press it for a long time. Do you press it harder when you do or just longer?

    My man, I feel like hugging you!
    Spent the better part of the last 10 hours trying various fixes, after a driver updater software disabled my laptop keyboard and mousepad, with Windows somehow failing to revert to backup points, and each convoluted fix offered online would just keep breaking more stuff.
    Eventually found the name of the port on my own (by fiddling through Windows sub-menus intuitively and safely), googled it, found your video, such a simple, straightforward fix, puts the dozens of labirynthian tutorials I read to shame!

      Press (Windows key + X) and click on “Device Manager”.
      Expand “Mouse” or “Mice and other pointing devices”.

    Can confirm, this does work. My cheap keyboard bit the dust when I spilt a soda on it but I remembered I had a Ps/2 keyboard from emachines. My mobo is a b450 a pro max, this video saved my life.. well.. helped me get back to my games quicker

    Thanks man that fixed it, my only criticism is that for really short video you can trim down the intro to be like 0.5 to one second or just take it out entirely

    This worked perfectly for me, thank you! I have a pretty recent motherboard I bought around 2020 and I noticed it still had one PS/2 port on it, so I wanted to use it for something.

    In my config there is no such i8042prt. I've succesfully found my version of service (kbdhid), but no use. :( Ofc, it was worth trying.

    It works on windows 7 as well but you have to shut it down and start it by hand, the restart choice wont work

    btw can you share the theme you're using for the windows, it looks pretty nice, by the theme I mean the weather app clock and the taskbar only appeared when you hovered your mouse over it.. please let me know if there is a special app to get all these features or if you did them manually I hope you have a video of it too xd
