This brings tears to my eyes. I grew up in this glorious era of HK. This was the time when Hong Kong truly flexed its muscle, where people prospered not only financially but also socially with pride in their identity.

I'm a fan of Hong Kong films from the 80s and 90s, the vibes are extraordinary, the Hong Kong actors who really hit the fans are Stephen Chow and Andy Lau. Hong Kong in those years was Hong Kong, different from China, but now Hong Kong is part of China. This is precisely what made Hong Kong so iconic in the 80-90s✨

Also the era where Cantonese supremacists in HK culturally genocided Mandarin and other dialects in HK
People forget that HK in the 50s and 60s comprised of people from all over China, and other dialects like Teochew and Hokkien were spoken very commonly but have more or less disappeared today

I was so so so fortunate to be able to grow up and live through the entire 80s as I was born at the end of 79. My family is not rich but not poor, just ok. I got to experience everything there were culturally, and economically as everyone worked hard. I experienced the traditional side of HK while I also understand the Chinese tradition. And with the best music, movies and TV shows are all produced in the era, you are never bored. I so missed my time growing up despite the pressure from school. Thank you HK for everything that makes me of who I am.

Indeed! Everyone who lived through that era of Hong Kong would tell you how much they miss those days. Nobody was forced to do anything, and nothing could stop you from doing anything. We all willingly worked hard together to make Hong Kong a better place, without any regret. There was an opportunity for you regardless of your background, and we did not feel oppressed at all, even though it was a colonized city. We built up this strong sense of caring for the community, which is now slowly shifting to a hostile environment. It's unfortunate to see how times have changed, and we can do nothing about it but to stay silent and accept.

Hong Kong back then was like the Hollywood of Asia. Probably 80's and 90's were the peak of it. We used to watch Hong Kong movies from time to time in our VHS back then. Action movies, Kungfu, Love stories even the Adult vids 😂😂 😂 you name it. I miss watching some of Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Stephen Chow movies. Time flies and Indonesia action movies started to boom and KDrama and KMovies improved a lot too and now they are dominating the market. CDramas and CMovies aren't that popular as of now but they are starting to climb the ladder.
    Time flies so fast 😅.

Some of the best movies imo was from 80s Hong Kong. Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Stephen Chow, Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen, Jet Li and even Bloodsport. As a 90s kid I always remember how powerful the Hong Kong scene was. It doesnt seem to be the same or maybe i'm just out of touch.

This film makes me feel nostalgic for some reason even though I am not born in that era. Now I am jealous of my parents and grandparents who have experienced the golden era of Hong Kong. And I was also surprised by the progress the city has made since then, I cannot even imagine the change my parents went through. The city looks completely different from what it used to look like in only 40 years. You don't see that often. Truly the (used to be) Pearl of the East.

Aren't you sad that time is passing too quick and life is very short. These school children must be grand pas now. These actor and actresses who looks so thin and beautiful must be grand mas now or passed away. It's beautiful but this video makes me want to cry. There are so many things to enjoy on this planet and so little time to do it all. Every 100 years people all the people of the planet who were born 100 years ago die and is replaced by a brand new population. It's like there we are loving on a different planet from people who are born 100 later because we will never meet them and never know what they think, how they live. All we can do is living the fullest stop making wars and fighting for useless things. Just love each other because we will all end up the same way.

I went to Hongkong and Macao the first time way back in 2007. I fell in love with the place. After that, I made several trips from then to now. (The beauty of the people, their culture and the western culture that they adopted. as well). Watching this video made me realized yes I missed the Golden Age of Hongkong. (Probably that was in the 80s to the mid 90s) where in modernity, western influences and asian culture were in at its peak of equilibrium. When I arrived there some of the Cultural traditions no longer existed. I envy those who experienced living in there in that moment in time.

Hong Kong in the 80s was one of the jewels on the planet... only those lucky enough to have lived there understand!

There’s a big mall called the Windsor House now, isn’t there? It had a different name back in the 80s? What was it called, was it the Duke of Windsor House or Building or something like that? Does anybody know? I’m doing some research of back-in-the-day.
    Thanks much!
