All these years later, I still miss Tim Russert. No one before or since could hold the powerful accountable, with that stonecold stare, like Russert. My heart goes out to Luke, and I’m happy to see that he’s in a better place. Can’t wait to see what he does next.

Would. Journalism is dead. It's been paid off.

Dear Luke Russert. Just a few weeks ago I was having a lunch date here at my place with my sister-in-law. She and I are the same age - and we got to talking about 'all of it' including our own advancing years.... doing a bit of reflecting on the 30 years she and I have known each other and I said out of the blue, "I miss Tim Russert". Of course, I had never met your father, but he was a reassuring person in my life none the less. And this will sound strange, but I loved him:) Through Meet The Press, he shared with me and millions more, though none of them in my living room, every week, what he had just learned and surmised and conclusions he had drawn while also allowing me to 'sit in' with him and whatever guest he had on the show that week. At the time, this just seemed normal, comforting and just plain nice. When I learned of his passing, I was heartbroken. All this might sound dramatic coming from a stranger to you and your dad, but it's true that I cried and cried! I had not realized what a solid figure he was in my life. I was truly stunned at my own reaction. Last week, when I was chatting with my sister-in-law and told her this, she said that she, too, had felt the same way - and that she, too, cried and cried when he passed away. We had trusted him and we had loved him. Today, he represents a time to me - pre-social media - when we felt we could count on someone to tell us the truth and to share news and events "like family" - without pretense or celebrity - just being himself. It was so good to have him in our collective family. Now, I suppose, like my own mother and father, grandparents and other family, he's not here - but he's everywhere. I can assure you, he is in my heart for the rest of my days. Because it felt so good to know a GOOD MAN. Good luck on your journey, good luck with your book. Now, we love you, too:) I hope this note finds you, and I hope this finds you well.

So wonderful of Chuck to have Luke come on MTP to talk about his Dad, who was a hard act to follow, but Chuck is doing a great job.

"...Please God, just this once. Go Bills." Meet the press died with Rosser. For that matter so did journalism on the mainstream media. He let no one off the hook.

Tim at least tried to be a fair journalist, but these days it is all pro-Democrat rhetoric rather than any pretense of genuine journalism.

It's really just partisan politics, and it sucks. To dislike Democrats and/or Republicans and blame either for all the foolishness, I'd have to dislike everyone I know since most are stupidly clinging to one of those camps. How tragic for the country to be so divided. Makes me very sad and ashamed to be American.
