  • This time, we revisit one of the coolest and most well-made Cold War battle rifles. Designed and built in Switzerland by the original SiG firm, the STGW.57 or PE57 or SG-510 was standard issue within the Swiss military for over three decades. Chambered for the 7.5 GP11 cartridge, it was both accurate and powerful.
In this video, we talk about its developement, military service, and variants. Also we do a bit of disassembling to show you fine folks how this weapon functions, and we even take mine out for a few rounds at the range.
Featured is the AM57-1 by Honey Creek Industries; an ATF approved semi-auto only PE57 assembled from a matching parts kit with original Swiss barrel.
This video is a patreons' choice, and we apologize that it is a couple days late in getting published. There was an issue with beeds that required a bit of re-editing at the last minute.

I purchased my STG 57 semi automatic from Navy Arms in 1979. It was the most interesting rifle of its type I had seen. Magazines were available as was a really nice cleaning kit and bayonet. It cost as much as a nice used car ,back then. It is a favorite of mine simply because of its “coolness “ factor. Mine is no more accurate that an M1 Garand. Your presentation is as always ,excellent.

Great video. I have always thought that the STGW57 is the coolest battle rifle ever made. Easy to see the FG42 influence in it, which is another very cool battle rifle, and the MG42. Don't know if I would want to hump it all day in the mountains but still very nice.

You were lucky to have enough “pull” to have one built for you for a price. Us regular “Joes” have been left out in the cold for years waiting for a reliable build path for the PE57. Sorry for being envious.

Great video. Suggest the cameraman gets closer to capture the small parts in frame so we can see it better rather than from a few feet away where we can't tell from far away.

Do you have any contact info to the guys or the company of Honey Creek and are they still open to working on part kits for these?

I can get a deactivated 57 in the UK. I'm thinking of getting it to be honest. It's just under £500 which is pretty damn cheap for the quality you get.

    I think it's SIG - Schweizer Industrie-Gesellschaft. Not SiG :)
